Well I had been reading all of the posts about these mysterious codes that I just had to give Disney a call. Believe it or not, it worked. :cool1: I had a code/discount attached to my name for a room only discount. Of course as luck would have it, most resorts are already booked for my dates (June 17-26). I did get $166 rate for AKL savannah view or $59 rate for All Star Music.

Advice or comments on AKL are greatly appreciated!!!!

We spent two nights at AKL in Jan., and it really is an extraordiary place. I'll never forget that moment when we first walked out on the balcony of our room to see giraffes 10 feet away! The pool is great, as are all the restaurants - we loved Boma for breakfast.
On the downside, the rooms are small for families, we thought, and down at the end of the Kudu trail wing, we had a hike to everything (but that's a hit or miss thing, and every resort has that issue, right?)
It depends on you needs and wants -- we, as a family of 4, couldn't have made it a week in the smaller rooms, but everyone's different! You got good prices on both AKL and All-stars for that time of year, I think. Good luck deciding and have fun!

We stayed at AKL in Feb 05. We loved it and wished we could
have stayed longer. The CMs were wonderful. My DS5 really
like looking our window every morning to see the animals.

I would stay there again (and longer this time). We only got to stay
for 4 days this past trip.

That is a great rate for savannah at AKL. This is a wonderful resort. I couldn't recommend it more highly. The lobby is breathtaking and there are excellent restaurants. Bus service is terrific too.

Yes - I had to juggle my reservations for June after SWA came out with airfares and tried to get a moderate on June 25. Only kings were available with the PIN. So, we will be staying at POP for $59.00 per night.

AK is just wonderful. There is no comparison to All-Stars. The hotel is beautiful and very peaceful. The square footage of the rooms is actually larger than the All-Stars, so I am not sure why someone thought the rooms were small. They are themed to look African and many think they are dark, maybe that's what made it look small. They also offer bunk beds in certain rooms, so if you are interested in that, AK is a good choice.

Of course, the animals outside your room is huge plus. It gives the kids something to watch, besides Toon Disney (LOL), while everyone gets ready.

As someone mentioned, the restaurants in the hotel are very good. Your kids will love the chocolate decorations made by the pastry chefs. They are not edible, but they are amazing.

The rate you got a really good. If it were me, I would not pass up on such a great rate and chance to stay at this beautiful resort.

I also have wondered why some folks complain about the size of the WL and AKL rooms. They are definitely larger than your standard roadside motel. Also, since most of the deluxe hotel rooms at WDW come with similar furnishing, you're only gaining floor space. We have more than enough room at AKL for dh, my 2 ds', my dd in a crib (!), and myself without feeling like we had to climb over one another.

That is a great rate for AKL! Take it! By the way, you can see the AKL featured on Travel Channel on 3/31 at 11am. :cool1:
