Our stay at AKL was standard view also and although I was a bit worried it turned out great. Our rooms were in Ostrich Trail which is the opposite side from the bus stop so they were very quiet. The standard view rooms face the front of the lodge but we were on the lobby level which is floor 3 and the bushes and trees really sheltered the view of the cars. The pool and food places are on the other side as well but it really isn't that far of a walk. Just strolling through the magnificent lobby is an attraction you won't want to miss. Your 3 year old will love AKL. There are many places to see the animals and the pool and the restaurants are super too. So many choices. We loved the bus service at the lodge and had no problems at all even when we left the parks at closing. We are planning on going back next trip and cannot wait. Have a wonderful time.
