Animal Kingdom Lodge vs Polynesian resort

Just starting to think of our next wdw trip, planning on staying in a resort hotel. Torn between akl an poly, just wandered if anyone has any advice on the two???

i like AKL but have never stayed at poly.would like too for the monarail

Both are deluxe resorts, so in terms of rooms not much differance. Ive stayed in AKL and loved it, although Ive not stayed in the Poly Ive visited on numerous occasions, the beach area is lovely depends on what theming you want really, both are excellent. The poly is obviously closer to MK and on the MOnorail system, and im guessing if booked direct, the price would reflect this.
Personally Whatever you choose will be a great choice.

We have done AKL but not the Poly. Depends what you what, Animals on your doorstep or the convienience of the Monorail.

We've visited the Poly and I think you probably can't go wrong with either

I've not stayed at AKL but I have stayed at the Poly a few times and loved it! Great location, wonderful theming and fab views of the MK! I definitely recommend it.

Thanks for the comments, we are definately struggling to decide on the animals or convenience of monorail. Those who have stayed at akl what was the transport like?

When are you thinking of going???

We are now staying at the Poly next May for our Wedding Anniversary - We originally wanted to stay at AKL but have been put off with all the construction work - we figure we will save our stay there until all the building work is complete so that it will be perfect when we do finally get there!!!

I've never stayed at the Poly either - but have heard some excellent reports. I've stayed at GF a couple of times which was amazing and alot of people say the Poly is even better so I'm hoping for great things!!

Not sure, thinking way in advance. We went in jan and can't wait to go back. Life feels empty not planning so today is the dawn of new plans, (keeps the spirits high)

We stayed at AKL in December and did not like it at all. We found the staff rude, the resort dark and out of the way! We have stayed at other Disney resorts including POFQ. Even though it's a moderate we rated it better than AKL. I would not class AKL as a deluxe. I have never stayed at the Poly but you can't beat it for location.
