Can someone answer this for me? I am leaving for AKL and Boardwalk Villas in about 3 hours:cool: My Aunt called to say have fun. And in the conversation we were disscussing add ons. she is currently looking for herself. She asked me wasn't I going to add on? And I replied we had decided to hold steady as the kids loved AKL so much. She then said well than I am sure you will add on, when they build DVC there......Are they building one there? And did I see an artists rendering awhile back and just spaced this out? Sorry if this is a odd question but, she seemed pretty sure of it. Thanks in advance.

Don't hold your breath. I think it would have been done right away if they were going to do it. This was a big rumor when AKL was being built, and it seems to keep circulating. The next DVC after SSR should be Eagle Pines, since that was announced before SSR.

Eagle Pines is correct, it is the next DVC resort. Personally I doubt that there will be an AK DVC resort. Disney is sensative to the animals living there and that is why pool hopping is not allowed. A DVC may add to the stress on the animals.

Where will Eagle Pines be located?

Eagle Pines DVC resort is planned to be built in and around the Eagle Pines golf course, which is a quarter mile north of Port Orleans and half a mile east of Fort Wilderness.

My personal opinion, is that if the sales are slower than BCV for SSR, than they will look to add the next DVC in a more "prime" location so as to resume quick sales rather than go right into another large development like Eagle Pines.

Just to the north of the Fort Wilderness Canpground. It will sit between the campground and the Eagle Pines Golf Course on the golf course itself.

Thanks Vernon and DVC Dave.

I agree that and AKL Villas would be a long-shot.

But is Eagle Pines really the next one? I could be wrong, but it seems that SSR was announced AFTER eagle pines.... so why are they now selling SSR ownerships, meanwhile have they even broken ground on EP?

Who knows... They may very well build EP next... DVC may call it quits after SSR...or they may imagineer a completely new plan!

That's why I stay tuned to DIS, daily, for all the late breaking DVC news. :p

Yes, it WAS announced before SSR, but I think the closing of DI and the available buildings of the spa area of DI made this a cheaper and easier project than EP. I too think EP might be an abandoned idea. It would be interesting to see what guides have to say about that.

Yes, Eagle Pines was announced BEFORE SSR. But, as we all know 9/11 happened, and the economy hit the skids. Sooooo...... a decision was made to put EP on hold. However Disney was already faced with a issue with the then defunked, and aging Disney Institute. Low and behold a study showed that the DI could be converted to a DVC resort with far lower expense than EP. So a green light was given to convert, before any SSR plans were even drawn

here is hoping one day - they will have a DVC resort close to AK - but who knows what the future will be.

I would still like to see one at the Cont - where the wings are now.

at present either of these resorts are going to happen - in the next 20 years - maybe!

I might be able to add something here. My two boys and I did some off road biking the last time we were staying at VWL (March 2002). after we went through the Fort Wilderness Camground, we continued on some dirt paths near the water of Bay Lake. We came across a bunch of Survey Markers, and bright orange Survey Ribbons marking out certain locations and spots. I took photos of them, and would be happy to post them, but I don't know how to do this. I concluded, that what we saw and photographed, was the surveying of EP's infrastructure work.

Of course nothing is set in stone, but if there were ever a AKV, it would be many years into the future. The proposed size of SSR will take years to sell, then EP will take a while to sell. Again, plans could change, and DVC could opt to keep SSR small and scrap EP.

Personally, I would rather see a Poly DVC.

IMO, if AKV is built it would'nt be until about 40 use years left on the new 50 year end date that started with SSR. The closer you get to the end date, the bigger the hook needed to draw interest in spite of the lower use years.
I would argue that is exactly what they did with BCV, the combination of SAB and it's proximity to EPCOT (and the Boardwalk) were able to overcome any real or imagined short comings due to the end date.

I figured it was a long shot, My Aunt (OKW) sounded so sure, I just had to ask.... Well we are Off to the airport!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!NOW!!!!!!

Michael, if you're reading, I vote for POLYNESIAN DVC too! Give me a luau over golf anyday!;)

the symbol for DVC is an island with a mountain - volcanic - Key West (OKW) is not that - so I think the Polyn was in the orginial design - but I think someone said "no way" - so they went with the BWV, VWL, BCV, and now SSR (old DI).

I think the Contemporary might have a change - because the popularity of the Contemporary has gone down (like the DI) - but the last I heard is that WDW is going to spend a fortune to fix the Contemporary up. So as I say maybe in 20 years - certain not anytime soon.

the Polyn was my first WDW resort back in the 70's - and it is still beautiful today!
