Hate to tell you this, but you really should do a search. THere is MUCH here on the AKL if you do search.

We stayed at the AKL last summer, and although alot will suggest having a savannah view, I will be the one to suggest otherwise. Unless you really will be spending alot of time in your room, the view will be in my opinion an added unnecessary expense. We found (dh, ds8, dd7) that we enjoyed all the views throughout the resort much more. The resort is so beautiful, it would be ashame to be in your room. My suggestion is to ask for a room close to the elevators near the ceromonial house, this will allow your walk to everything much closer(pool, dining, even the walk to the busses) enjoy your views, on the rocking chairs, and walks throughout the resort.

Make sure you get a list of the different tours and activities available during your stay. Don't miss out on the story time by the firepit, the tour of Boma and Jiko and viewing the animals at night with the night-vision binoculars! Also ask a CM at the front desk for the hidden Mickey scavenger hunt :p

My dh and I stayed at the AKL last september in a savannah view room and absolutely loved it. I think it was definitly worth the extra money. I was awesome to wake up in the morning and look out your window to see giraffes going by. When we first got there they had given us a room that was considered savannah view but was overlooking a waterwhole so make sure you request a room facing the inside so you could see the back of the hotel from your room as well. We were very close to the lobby and the elevators to take you to boma and to the pool. The pool was open 24 hours which was great. And the resort is not that huge that the buses are really far away. either way i am sure you and your kids will love it.
