Animal Kingdom Lodge SHUTDOWN!

I have not hear anything yet. So maybe I will not be moved I really hope I dont get the bad news when I get there.

Sarah

From other threads, it sounds like if they make you move after you actually arrive at the AKL, they may give you cash in addition to letting you move somewhere more expensive for the AKL price... it would be a real downer, though, to have a different vacation than you are expecting. :sad1:

I rang WDW reservations last night to check that we would not be asked to move when we arrive at AKL next week...I spoke to a supervisor in guest relations and she assured me that we DO NOT have to move. Hope that helps. IF we can get internet access at AKL I will update thread.:wizard:

Thanks jmom for the reassurance. I have a hard time believing the entire resort will ever be shut down, unless of a major catastrophe!! It just doesn't make good business sense! I, for one, would appreciate a live update from the AKL, have a great time!!

What is your room type?

Sounds great that you're set for the AKL!

Hi Everyone, here is the latest. Again I was told that everyone was being moved, that I could refuse, however when we went to check in, we might not be given a choice of where they move us. Anyway, in my opinion, they are not being very helpful. I have made it clear that I don't care what increased $ value they offer, it's about the experience for my children. They keep telling me that they only need to "protect my reservation", in other words, they just need to move me, they don't seem to care about the rest (ADR's, park plans, etc). DH is going to call the manager when he gets a chance from work. As of right now, we have not officially changed anything but it looks like it will be Poly for 4 nights, WL for 6.

We haven't heard anything yet, and are supposed to check in on 8/26 and stay until 9/2. We have a pool view bunk bed room reserved. I have read that that section is fine. I don't want to move, and if they do move me, they need to provide me a room with 3 beds, since that is what I have now.

We've booked a savannah view room with bunkbeds. The supervisor I talked to was VERY DEFINITE about our room NOT being affected by the construction...I asked her in several different ways throughout the conversation just to check she kept saying the same thing!!!! lol! She only gave one answer...
DS 6 pirate: and DD4 princess: VERY EXCITED...soon to burst I think!! 2.5 working days left...must get packing!!!

jmom: Not to burst your bubble, but I too was told when I asked prior to making my final payment that I would not be required to move. Hopefully you get to stay!

I'm now looking at this forced relocation as an excuse to go back to WDW to stay at AKL after it re-opens!

I'm happy to hear that you can refuse, and then they deal with you upon arrival.

You guys know how about 5 days out they assign rooms at the resorts? I wonder if say 4 days before arrival you could call the hotel directly and see if you were assigned a room?

I'm not sure it would be a good idea to wait until arrival, I was told by then I wouldn't be given a choice. I'm hoping to deal with it all tonight, DH now has a plan, so he is getting involved. Yikes!! I think I will be happy with Poly for 4, WL for 6. We've never stayed at either one so it will be good.

They'll still give you a choice of whats available, and there is already nothing available my week, so it doesn't really matter.

Furthermore, when you're there and they are ruining your vacation on the day you arrive you have more power.

Not saying getting it straightened out now is bad, it's good, but it's not terrible waiting in my opinion.

Our stay is 8/26 to 8/29 they just called us to switch resorts. We chose the Beach Club and are really happy to get it. We had a standard view at AKL so the CM said we will get a standard view at BC for no addition cost.:cool1:

PS: They called us and then put me on hold for 20 mins:confused3

Congrats on the Beach Club! We looked at that also, but I settled on the Poly based on our park schedules. We arrive on 8/20 and have a Chef Mickey's that night, then MK the next day. So Poly will work for us but I loved the looks of the BC pool!!

I also spent a lot of time on hold, after I had to call them back. Very annoying since it is not a free call, I was on the phone for more than 30 minutes total!

See my stay is before you guys, and I haven't been called.

I wonder what it means?

Well that is my start date too, I guess I will see if I get a call from my TA. I hope I don't, I have been promising the kids AKL.

YES you can. I did this first and then got put through to reservations as my trip was more than 5 days away. The front desk phone number is on the AKL website page.

Thank you for your concern:goodvibes

:hyper: IF they change us upon arrival, when they have assured me 1 week prior that we will not be moved, DH & myself will be
However bubble is in tact :yay: and we are only ever going to have this lead-in week once and our trip of a lifetime to FLORIDA once...so whatever AKL throw at us we'll take it on the chin.:dance3: Happy holidays!

We're staying (as far as I know) at AKL from Aug. 17-24. I haven't gotten a call. We are staying concierge, though. I even called the dedicated number on 7/7 and was told by that CM that I would be able to stay, but I could move if I wanted to. I said I would stay.

I hope that hasn't changed in the last week. Now apparently they're telling people that everyone is moving. I know that some of the DVC rooms are open and have people staying in them already. I'll be very upset if I get there and then they move me. I'm planning on calling the resort directly 3 or 4 days before we leave.

Good luck to everyone else. This has been extremely stressful for me and I know it's been the same for y'all as well.

I have heard from more standard view people having to be moved, maybe not so much the other room type designations. Good luck to everyone.
