Animal kingdom lodge pools

Pretty much the same as all the others. They open around 8AM and close around 10PM.

ok thanks thats what i thought was hoping maybe later then that i wish they would stay open longer because by the time we get back from the parks they are closed

Yeah, I can't vouch for AKL but I'm a little skeptical about an 8AM opening during the winter season. That may in fact be true but it "feels" early this time of year.

FWIW, was at Wilderness Lodge last week and the hours were 9:30AM to 9PM (might have been 9:30PM, can't quite remember).

Hours will be longer during the warmer months.

The main pool at AKL is not locked, at least the last time we were there last year. You could use whenever you want.

They fenced it and gated it this fall.

oh okay, are there certain hours to enter now? I hope they don't do this to the dvc pools, I love the after hours in the BCV pool and hot tub after the parks!

Yep, prepare to be disappointed. All the pools are being gated and fenced.

I actually like the idea of gated pools. I just hope they allow DVC'rs to use our MB's to access villa pools, 24 hrs a day. Has anyone heard anything yet regarding this?

When the pool is closed, it's closed for everyone.

Well, wouldn't that be a good reason for all of us to send correspondence to DVC requesting MB access to just the villa pools? How can it hurt to make that request, if hundreds of DVC'rs sent them email, they'll listen.

I think the fencing is to close the pools at night. No more 24 hour pools. Actually, they weren't 24 hours before if you actually read the posted pool hours on the sign at the pool. But with drownings at WDW, they want to keep people out of the pool late at night.

You can try but I have a feeling WDW's liability lawyers would win out.

I understand that, I do. But reality says that these villa pools are heavily used late into the evenings, past midnight, and thoroughly enjoyed. They don't have lifeguards anyway during the day, so whats the difference at night? Nobody is there to rescue drownings at any hour of the day or night. I have sent off my request to allow 24 hr access, I hope others do as well.

The problem is if they allow 24/7 access at ANY Pool, other Guests will "expect" 24/7 access at "their" Pools and so on and so on.

In my opinion, the unguarded pools ("quiet pools, dvc pools") should have 24 hr access.
