Animal Kingdom Lodge OR Contemp. Resort ?!?

We enjoyed the pool...liked seeing the Flamingos there (in a little area):p
AHAH! I knew those Flamingos went somewhere!! Remember all the little pink guys lazying around under the bridge in Epcot? The one just before you headed over to the Mexico pavillion? Well...they must have relocated them over to AKL! My DD will be thrilled. I won't tell her until we arrive. She adores birds (Ornithology-crazy), and especially enjoyed watching the antics of these shrimp-lovers! :p In fact, she used to stand on the bridge for SO long viewing the feathered creatures...you would have thought it was an attraction in itself!! LOL....;)

WOW..Cali! Thanks for all the details on the rooms available at the AKL. What great prices for the SUITES! I also was clueless about the name of the view (Arusha), and appreciate all the efforts by you to enlighten me. I had no idea the CL rooms were on the 6th floor. I'll have to watch the Travel channel piece again! All I ever read about is folks staying on the second floor..etc., for the best savannah view. Is the 6th floor TOO HIGH to truly enjoy the sights/animals? I'm SO excited about the prospect of seeing these beasts off the balcony...DD & DH will be overjoyed. We're an EASY group...laughter and excitement flow freely with minimal effort! Thanks again. ;)

I'll be an "AKL & CR" EXPERT by the time I arrive in July 2003...thanks to all of you!! :p :)

dreamflight, the concierge rooms at AKL are on both the 5th and 6th floor, but the 6th floor is the only floor that has to be accessed by using a keycard in the elevator.

I went and got you some July/August 2003 room rates. Here they are:

Animal Kingdom Lodge (note: add 12% tax)
Concierge Room: $425
One Bedroom Suite: $635

Contemporary (note: add 11% tax)
Tower Concierge Room: $480
Tower One Bedroom Lake View Suite: $1025
Tower One Bedroom MK View Suite: $1090
Wing One Bedroom Suites: $780/820 (Garden/Hospitality)

I LOVE the privacy of the keycard access floor! We have used this in Vegas (MGM Grand), Peabody and numerous resorts. I prefer the quiet, security and wonderful seclusion this type of accomodation offers. Thank you, for informing me of this availability at the AKL.

Also, thanks for the 2003 rates. I'll call and book the rooms/suites asap. Have you stayed in the Tower C. Suite? Is it worth double the rate for the TC room? At AKL, the diff is only $200! Not bad, for a suite. :) Since we are in suites at every other property, I may as well GO FOR IT at these two as well!

Enjoy the weekend. TTFN....;)

Nope, we've never parted with the money to stay in a tower concierge suite! LOL, but I have seen pictures - and they look wonderful! Nice and large, 1300+ square feet (1BR Suite!). They are 3 times the size of a tower concierge room, if that makes any difference. :)

(LOL)...since there are only "three" of us, is seems silly! The tower concierge room would be more than sufficient. This summer, the Suites we had were wonderful. W/exception to the Portofino, none were too large to suit our needs. The Portofino was "Grand", and we are going to reserve the same suite for our next visit. We always stay in a 1BR villa at Vero, as we usually stay for more than a week. Also, at the Dolphin...we stay in the exec. suite...as we are there SO long, we'd feel too cramped in a room (even just the three of us) after a couple of weeks! ROTFL!:p I recall the Regular rooms at the CRT as being quite large and accomodating. The decor was very "contemporary"...but HEY, that's the NAME of the game! I hope the A/C isn't one of those units like the GF!!;)
