I have a selfish question. Is there any new gossip about opening up a restaurant at Jambo House (besides breakfast at Mara)? We have a trip scheduled for May and after surviving the lack of restaurant availability in November at AKL. We are hoping that at least the Mara will open for all meals. The idea that you can get a take out at Kidani and make it back to your room warm is absurd. We would be happy if even the pool bar at Jambo was opened for more than the weekend. It really doesn't make sense that everything is closed as there are a number of DVC member staying there. It really just comes down to opening a place where a person can get a sandwich or a burger or something quick.

Considering capacity hasn’t changed at the hotel I don’t see why they’d open more dining. (Not that what they have is ok, it sounds miserable. I’d book elsewhere but I know you DVC folks don’t have the same flexibility us cash bookers have.)

Maybe ask on resorts board?

But yeah, the food options at AKL seem lousy. I think they might be the worst out there right now as far as options go.

We just went this week. No news on opening.

and it sucked. We ended up at AOA and DS because the availability and lines. There’s just so little to eat and I’m not about that life when I’m trying to relax!

Yeah, we were there last week and it sucked. "Breakfast" at mara is one sandwich, a couple pastries, some cereal and yogurt. They do have zebra domes, which made me happy. We ordered groceries and take out and went over to sanaa once.

That said, an empty, quiet jambo lobby was magical, and the pool was never crowded. We loved it.

Was hoping Jiko would be open by the time we arrived next month, but that doesn't look like its happening.

there is a Publix grocery not far away. call a uber and go get a few groceries and put that kitchen to good use. also, Publix fried chicken, freezer vegetables ( you make in microwave) and a mac and cheese make a great meal. Publix friend chicken is something everyone should try, it's SO Darn Good! make a big pot of spaghetti , leftovers are great. The ideas are endless. I try to make easy, healthy things so we all have a great time, and don't gain 25 lbs. LOL.

We stayed at Kidani in Oct and we'd never stay at a resort that's basically closed again. I'd just look at staying somewhere else...I think it's nuts they ever thought having ppl. stay at a basically closed resort was ever a decent idea.

Blah...different strokes for different folks...my favorite part of being on vacation at Disney is NO cooking/preparing meals. Certainly works for those who don't mind, but that wouldn't feel like vacation to me.

I understand, believe me. I'm not a cooking love person either. But even less than that is my disdain for the food prices at Disney! WE maybe have one character meal somewhere, and that's it if we can help it. They get enough of our money just walking through the main gate. LOL.

We are staying at Jambo this summer. I'm bummed Boma won't be open, but I am looking forward to a quiet/less crowded resort experience. We have a GV and will get groceries for breakfast and snacks.

Same, we briefly considered switching resorts when it looked like the rest of the resort would remain closed through the summer. If this was someone's one and only trip to AKL I might suggest switching but we come back every summer. We're looking forward to a quiet resort to combat what we will deal with at the parks.
