I love the AKL and other boards (will remain nameless) seem to think it is not nearly as good as the Poly, CR, or Grand Floridian. So if you are an AKL fan please give a shout out about the best resort in WDW!

~Amanda

I loved the AKL when we stayed there last year in October. We went to try out the Poly this time. We figure it will be easier to go back our room with two little ones to rest. I was considering spliting our stay between AKL and Poly but with the Winter Dream Maker Package it would not work out.

We fell in love with the AKL when we went in May. It is the best resort on Disney property in my opinion.

The AKL is luxurious and UNIQUE. That 's what makes it so special!!! The uncomplicated transportation is the BEST!

We stayed there in November 2001 (our first trip). We are currently going to try and go back next november... it wasn't even a question as to where we will stay! We love AKL!

ME, ME, ME!!!!! I don't think I will ever stay anywhere else again!!!!

Me!:bounce: It is our favorite resort on property!

It is the best resort at Disney, it is the most unique resort you can find anywhere... giraffes off your balcony!! Can you think of anywhere else this could happen? I mean unless you are staying at Michael Jackson's Neverland ~ :p :p :p

We have been lucky enough to try the Poly and AKL. I hate to compare because we stayed concierge while at AKL. I am hoping that my DW and I can stay concierge at the Poly or GF next Feb. I have liked all resorts we have stayed. That includes ASMu.

That's the great thing about WDW, you have such a great selection when it comes to resorts.

CKJ and I honeymooned this past September down in WDW and split our stay between the WL and the AKL.

I fell in love with the AKL. The place is just stunning...and I do not feel as if I'm even on Disney Property. The grounds are beautiful, the CM are wonderful, and the view is just out of this world.

I would stay there again in a heartbeat if we could afford it again! (we really splurged on our honeymoon!)

Loved it when we stayed there for 3 all too short days in May 2001. Felt like you were really away from the world (except for the 2 signs that you could see on the way to the bus stop). I'm not sure if it's my FAVORITE resort (it's way too hard to chose), but it's close. I'd love to go back again for a longer stay.

I will jump on the bandwagon gladly!:bounce: I absolutely love staying at the AKL. I've had the Savannah view, and a two bedroom suite. (it was an upgrade from concierge level, quite unexpected and delightful) I love the ambiance of the resort, I love the smells of rare spices wafting up from Boma, I love the firepit, I love sitting on my balcony in the early dawn watching the giraffes stroll by while drinking my coffee, I love the zero-depth pool, I love the pool bar--which makes the best pina coladas on the Disney property, I love the Sunrise Safari. Did I miss anything? Oh, yeah, .....I love saving money so I can go again:p

We stayed at AKL at the end of Sept. and my whole family (DH, Me, DS 6, &, DD 4) fell in love with it! We had a standard room and still loved it. Even with two kids I thought it was romantic! The lighting and just the over all feel of the resort helped us relax after spending hours at the parks. If they sold the scent they use in the lobby I would buy it! I loved that smell! Next time we will make ourselves spend at least one day at the resort just exploring it and doing some of the activities offered there.

AKL Fan,
Christal:wave2:

Me me me!!! I'm having a hard time trying to convince myself I should try another resort on one of the next THREE trips we are planning for next year. (Now obviously, on the DVC trip we will not be staying there - except over the weekend, maybe)

As for the Poly and the CR being "all that"...

The Poly is just too orange and brown. TOO 70s. (we love Kona Cafe though!)

And one poster said it best - when you walk into the CR you hear a little voice in your head that says "1984 called and they want their hotel back". The contemporary resort just isn't [contemporary].

hahahahah...that's too funny - and too true!

and castlebound - what IS that smell in the lobby? it can't just be boma/jiko...it always smelled so spicey, warm, and inviting! I too loved it!

oh - and hands down - AKL has the BEST pool side bathrooms. They are BEAUTIFUL and smell wonderful. (yeah - a bathroom, smelling wonderful!) I even commented to DH on how pretty the pool side bathrooms were - he looked shocked for a minute - and then totally agreed with me!

:jumping1:

I can't wait to go back in 2 weeks! :hyper: We'll be there for my birthday, we love this hotel because it is so different from any others we've stayed at.

There is no way that I can adequately express how much my family and I love AKL. (But let's not tell anyone so that no one else will know how great it is!)

Count us Mainers in! We had a fabulous week stay in March with extended family and every person, from age 1 to 71 LOVED it. This includes both the Disneyphiles and those in the family who are usually embarrased to set foot on Disney property. Hoping to return in March 04, but have ressies on teacher's rate at Swan until room only codes come out (keeping fingers and toes crossed)!!!

I love to hear all these great responses! We are going to try AKL next september for the first time :hyper:

Hands down our fave resort of all time!!!!! We are DVC owners and like all the DVC offerings. But we love.........AKL. Its not a Disney vacation for us anymore without our stay at AKL.::yes:: Now that I have posted I get to see my countdown today!!!! # nights at Boardwalk villas and 4 nights AKL Killamanjaro club!!!!!
An old friend is doing Disney with his kids for the first time and meeting us there. I booked them at AKL as well. And the pressure is on for them to love it after I have talked it up so much. I can not think of a better property to make someone a Disney convert!
