Animal kingdom lodge DVC

were going to be staying at AKL villa's for the first time in a few months. I was wondering what people can tell me about it. How does it compare to other DVC resorts??? What if any special "features" do you get that other non DVC resort guest wouldnt??? Any other tips or secrets would be greatly apprecaited. Thanks!

We didnt stay there but we visited for the afternoon when my dd & ds did the childrens bush camp there.

The pool is nice and the theming of the entire resort is top notch! Very themed !!

We wil be staying Concierge level through AKV in a couple weeks, so that will be one perk! Depending on which style, size and catagory of villa, you COULD have an in room laundry, a Jacuzzi, a kitchen, a savanna view, a small value room, etc, etc,. There are MANY catagories at AKV.

The savannahs, the animals! No where else will you have such a different view or theme. Even if you stay in a standard view room the resort is loaded with viewing areas, outside and inside. The restaurants - Boma, yummy. The pool area is gorgeous and the hot tubs feel very "tropical" in that they are tucked away from the populated pool area, but just right there, surrounded by foliage. It is my favorite on property resort theme - even the store has stuff you won't find anywhere else. While BW is my favorite place to stay, which is where I own, and added on to twice, AKV is one place I must visit every time I'm there. We will be staying in a one bedroom for one night of our stay this coming trip. I'm very much looking forward to it.

The theme of the resort is very good and it is isolated from anything else Disney or Florida, creating the sense, with the savannas and animals that you are not even in Florida. And you do see animals (excluding any predators) on the savanna and they are not "fenced" in on the savanna (the "fence" that actually keeps them from coming right up to the building is a low to the ground electrical fence around the perimeter of the building). You can view animals from your room or several viewing areas.

Boma for my money is the best buffet restaurant at WDW. The busses are very good because it is a direct flight to the park. The pool area is large and because of trees and bushes, there are many areas you can go to where you are isolated from others.

You can take a sunset safari ride through the Animal Kingdom (for a cost, avaialble to all at AKL/AKV).

Other than a sunrise safari ride, available to concierge guests (DVC or regular), there is nothing in particular that is available to DVC guests that is not available to regular hotel guests. (Note, heard rumors they would be opening that sunrise safari to any guests at AKL/AKV but don't know if that has occurred).

1BR (other than "values") has large chair that pulls out into bed so 1BR sleeps 5 (all other DVC resorts sleep 4 in a 1BR).
