Animal Kingdom Lodge Dining

I'm thinking about taking a drive over to eat at Animal Kingdom Lodge on our trip (was hoping to stay for a night or two until I saw the 'Peak' prices )

Can anyone advise on where is the best place to eat (myself, DH and DD (7)and do we need to call to make reservations?
I was thinking about maybe the Boma breakfast buffet but not certain whether I'll be able to get us all over there before it ends at 11am

Definately BOMA breakfast buffet is great as well as the dinner buffet. I would suggest making a ADR however as it can get busy and you might have to wait awhile. But both meals are excellent. We make sure to make it over even if were not staying at AKL!!!

Boma is a really good place to eat for either meal. ADR's are almost a must though since there are a lot of people who want to eat there.

This is an odd suggestion, but I'm reading into your post that you are most interested in checking out the lodge, and you'll be going on a budget....

How about Mara - AKL's "Fast Food Court" for lunch? Mara is probably the best fast food court on property - its extensive and really pretty good. You can eat there, check out out the lodge, and then head back to AK or a different park for the afternoon.

The other options are Boma - which is an extensive buffet (that I wasn't fond of) and Jiko, which is pretty expensive (you might discover in more expensive than a standard view room at AKL by the time you are done!)

That sounds like a fantastic idea Crisi

We're not early starters so that would probably be a good start to the day, before moving on elsewhere.
Do you know what time lunch starts?
