Animal Kingdom from 5-7 pm

I am going to AK on our last day from park opening until about 2:30 pm. I really enjoy it there, so I was thinking that maybe I would hop over another day as well from 5-7 pm. Do you think I could get enough done there to be worth it? I've seen many posts on the DIS talking about how the park gets pretty empty in the last hours. Can anyone confirm?

Right now, my only plan is to see Festival of the Lion King at 5 pm. DH fell asleep last time we saw it (yeah, I know... ). I could do anything else beyond that - and even that show is negotiable. What do you all think is a good plan?

Depends on crowd levels when you are going to be there. We like AK, and would certainly consider hopping in for a few hours. Would figure we could always do Everest single rider if necessary, Safari line (and all lines) will get shorter the hour before park close. Not sure if Pangani/Maharajah Trails will still be open. Don't know if we would have much of a plan, except to check wait times and FP availability when we got there.

We were there in early May this year, and school was still in session so crowds were probably lower than August, but... we got there around 3pm for a 6pm closing time on our arrival day. We had FP+ reserved for EE and the Safari. I think standby was only 20 minutes for EE, and was walk-on in the FP line. Safari was walk on without the FP at 5pm. Everything else we tried, like Primeval Whirl, was walk on. Hopefully will be similar for you. We did not try to do any shows.
