Animal Kingdom Extra Magic Hours

For EMH they say the parks can be open "up to" 3 hours later, but for Animal Kingdom, is it really 3 hours. For instance we have friends who arrive in Disney on 8/13 and wanted to go to Animal Kingdom their first day since it has night time EMH, but their flight does not get in until 2pm, and if the EMH is only an hour or so, I would rather see them go to MK which is open until 11pm or Studios which also has EMH late that night. They really want to do AK first though. So can any DISers who have been to an AK EMH evening session tell me how long it actually is? Thanks!

AM EMH is ALWAYS 1 hour.

PM EMH is ALWAYS 3 hours.

Extra Magic Hours

Each day one of the Disney Theme Parks opens an hour early or stays open up to three hours after regular Park closing, so Disney Resort Guests* can enjoy easy access to select attractions — even the most popular ones! Remember, you can only visit one Theme Park per day with the Magic Your Way Base Ticket. To get the most out of the Extra Magic Hours benefit, just add the Park Hopper® Option to your ticket. Then you can go from Theme Park to Theme Park on the same day, including whichever Park has Extra Magic Hours.
To take advantage of Extra Magic Hours at the Water Parks, you must have a Resort I.D. and the Water Park Fun & More Option on your Magic Your Way Ticket or a One Day Water Park Ticket for the Park offering the Extra Magic Hours benefit that day.

Yep, evening EMHs are always 3 hours. And IMO, evening EMHs are AK are the BEST!

Actually on 8/13, AK has morning EMH which means it opens 1 hour early but closes at normal time, which is 8pm. Disney HS has the evening EMH that day and would be open until 1am. AK's evening EMH is not until 8/20 & 27.
