Animal Kingdom, EPCOT, or Hollywood Studios?

What do you think of AK and EPCOT?

  • Animal Kingdom is a must, not EPCOT.

  • EPCOT is a must, not AK.

  • Try doing EPCOT and AK in one day, it's feasible and worth it.

  • Do neither.

Hello,
My family and I are planning a VERY short trip (2 days) in WDW for the first time and want to make the most of our park hours.
We are not huge animal people and feel like EPCOT is not as 'Disneyish' as Hollywood Studios and the Magic Kingdom, so right now we are looking at skipping them and just spending our time at HS and MK (it's not that I don't like world history, it's just that I would not go to WDW to learn about it...). Does this sound like a terrible idea to you WDW veterns?

Is it impossible (or highly unadvisable) to try and tackle EPCOT and AK in one day? If I am correct I think park-hopping is more expensive than going to one park per day, so we are taking that into consideration.

(Please vote in my poll as well, thanks!)

Thanks!

Epcot is my favorite park but given your situation it sounds like you have a good plan.

Disney is the best place in the world. Magic kingdom. Epcot. Hollywood Studios. Animal Kingdom. PERFECT VACATION! +The more days you buy on a Disney ticket the cheaper each day is! Enjoy your vacation girls! :bride:

We did Animal Kingdom & Epcot in one day.

I'd suggest looking at all the attractions you want to do at AK & Epcot & make a list. Get there early.

We skipped a few things @ AK, and we were out of there by 12:30. And same w/ Epcot, we did the things on our list, went through World Showcase and left by 4:30. My kids are 4 & 6, so we could eliminate a good amount of stuff without them knowing. But if you have older kids, I see no reason why you can't say at AK until like 3 and then head to Epcot until closing. It was the last day of our trip too, we'd already been to MK, DHS, Sea World, & Islands of Adventure.

We are not huge fans of AK, but love both EPCOT AND HS. I love to immerse myself in a park a day, so we take the whole day and do each park.
That being said, 2 days would make me jones for more! We usually do 10-11, but since that isn't an option, I would take it for sure!

Your plan is fine, but I LOVE Epcot...LOVE it..you could easily hit highlights of AK in the AM and Epcot at night and end with Illuminations and a great dinner!:thumbsup2

My general thought is I would start out the first day at HS, then late afternoon or early evening, head over to Epcot.

Day two I would do MK. You could stay all day there if you are enjoying it, or bounce over to your favorite attractions at another park.

I think HS and AK are both one full day parks. Epcot and MK are two full days each. Actually if you want to catch all the special shows in World showcase and look in the shops in each country at a relaxing pace, I would say 3 days for Epcot.

Definitely get a map and use youtube to help you decide your top picks in each park, since you will not be able to do it all.

Just my two cents. My kids' favorite park since their first visit, when they were 2 and 4, is Epcot. We end up there almost every evening!

AK we like. We've have a lot of fun days there! But, if it were me, I'd spend a whole day at Epcot.

I'm sorry - two days is so short! But at least you get to go!

Our kids favorite park after MK is Epcot as well.

We always plan to spend 2 full days at Epcot.

The rides/attractions we try not to miss:
Space Ship Earth
Soarin'
Test Track
Mission Space
Nemo
Turtle Talk with Crush
Living with the Land
Mealstrom (Norway)
Gran Fiesta (Mexico)
Sum of All Thrills
Drum Show in Japan
Show in France
Figment
Illuminations
Boat Ride across the Lagoon at some point when we need a rest
Fountain Show
Winnie The Pooh and Friends in the toy store at United Kingdom
Morroco Store
Kim Possible in a country we haven't already done.

The monorail ride from MK to Epcot is great as well!

Enjoy your days in the World!!

No, actually they always liked Epcot a lot more than the MK!

So if it were me, for a short visit, and having the monorail connecting the two, I'd do MK and Epcot.

Never mind that the first time I went to WDW MK was the only park, the next few times MK and Epcot were the only parks!

The monorail ride is a nice one, and it beats a bus!

My suggestion would be to visit Epcot in the morning hours, then visit Animal Kingdom a few hours before closing. I visited AK about 2 hours before closing and there was no wait for the safari because it closed 1 hour before the actual park closed. I also got on Dinosaur and Everest instantly because it was near closing. By the way, this was all during Spring Break crowds this past week. Just make sure not to miss the safari, or if you like thrills, Everest and Dinosaur at AK. :)

I don't see your family size and kids ages, which might make a difference. If your kids are really young, you may just want to spend both days at MK and not do the other parks this trip. We have taken DD when she was 2, 3, 4, and 5, and we spend 2 days MK, 2 days Epcot, 1 day DHS, and 1 day AK. AK is usually half a day, and DD also can get tired of DHS by late afternoon as well. When DD was 2, we only spent 1 day at Epcot, and it wasn't enough for her- so since then it has been 2 days.

Epcot has been DD's favorite park after MK since she was 2. It still is and she is 6 now. DH and I feel the same way. In fact, when we took DD to DL, the only thing she complained about missing from WDW was Epcot.

If you don't plan to visit WDW again, I1/2 at Animal Kingdom and 1/2 at Epcot. Then I woud plan a full day at MK (with perhaps a quick bounce over to DHS). Yes, it is more expensive to get hoppers but if you aren't coming back anytime soon (and haven't been before) I would try to at least visit all four parks.

With two days, I'd be tempted to just do the Magic Kingdom. Other than that, your plan sounds fine.
