I have not actually stayed at AKL but my family is planning a stay next summer.

We only went for dinner one night last summer and when we walked into the lobby my mouth literally dropped! Both my DH and I thought it was so different, the lobby alone is just amazing! I just loved the ambiance with it's fire pit both inside AND outside, television in the lobby for the kids while they are waiting, and the art objects. Then watching the animals out back was such a treat, let alone how great the restaurants are! The review are mostly great for this resort so we can hardly wait!

CSR for me!! It has everything I could need/want.

My trip to POR was a nightmare and I'll never go back.

I like AKL best of those three, but I would happily stay at POR if I could only afford a standard view room at AKL. I don't like the standard view rooms at AKL and will only stay there if I can afford a savannah view room. If I can't I'd choose to stay at POR

We like all three so I can't vote for one. :cool1:

AKL is a deluxe and a very nice resort by all accounts. But like anything, up to you if you feel that it is worth the increased in price, for what that resort brings to the table.

Honestly each family has to make that decision.

Between CSR and POR, no doubt, go POR. That resort is heads and shoulders above CSR and of course, priced right around the same.

POR has a wonderful food court (without a surcharge like CSR), a better pool and a much nicer, more "disney" feel to it then CSR.

You won't have tons of convention folks taking up your space and you can actually feel like you are on vacation when you are at POR

The piano bar and the entertainment at POR is also super. Think he plays on Sunday and Tuesday. I know he was there on Sunday night for us.

Now, busses at POR can be hit or miss depending on the season you go. CSR does have better bus service during peak times.

Also we found that staff much nicer at POR then CSR along with better cleaniness. Not that CSR was horrible in that catagory mind you.

But if money is not an issue for your family, go with the deluxe and take the time to stay at AKL

Absolutely 100% in agreement here. We did not care for CSR. It just didn't have a Disney feel to us. It FEELS like a convention center resort. Which it is.

Ah, great minds think alike! And that surcharge thing at CSR really bugs me!

If you mean Bob Jackson, he is marvelous! Worth a trip to POR to the River Roost even if you are not staying there. Currently it looks like he is there Wed, Thursday, and Saturday right now, but that changes, and you can see his schedule here: http://www.yehaabob.com/. If the filter turns that into asterisks it is www yehaabob com.

This past trip (September 19-25) they had vastly improved the bus service to POR since our last trip in April. At one point they filled two at a time, and 5 minutes later two more showed up for the rest of us. This was at closing at MGM or Epcot, forgot which, and it was a CRAZY lot of people. Several times they sent two buses when there were a lot in the queue. How they dispatch buses has changed and it works about a million times better than before.

Another point for POR is the boat to DTD. Nice trip and 100% better than the buses to DTD (and I think one of the DTD bus stops is down for rehab right now which really makes the boat attractive).

While CSR was not awful by any means, it just wasn't our favorite and we won't choose it again (unless we have to to get a code applied). I also would go for POR if you have kids over CSR. You can pool hop to PORFQ and they have the cutest dragon waterslide for the kids!

If the money wasn't an issue I would do AKL though :) I just have never been able to justify the extra $$$ since we spend so little time at the resort.

I voted for the CSR.

1) Although it has been referred to as "undisney", we like the quietness of it after a long day at the park with thousands and thousands of people.

2) We had dinner at POR and would NEVER go back. We ate dinner at Boatwright's and the piano player in the lounge was so loud (as were the people and kids listening to him) that we couldn't even hear our server or ourselves to talk during our meal. When we walked up to the resort, my husband said this might be a nice place to try one of our next visits...until we dealt with the noise while having dinner.

3) More choices at the food court at CSR (if you are on dining plan that 10% thing doesn't affect you)

4) In all the trips we have been there, we have seen one or two conventions going on and the people attending were extremely pleasant and courteous. And the pool was never crowded.

5) We like the quiet pools.

6) We like the advantage of the health club/spa.

I've only stayed at CSR, but I voted for AKL. There were things about CSR that I didn't like, mainly the rude CM's we encountered. The rooms are very busy, meaning too many colors and patterns clashing and not tastefully decorated. I had seen pictures before my trip but that didn't change my mind about staying there, but when we saw the room in person, it was like it screams MEXICO!! POR I haven't been to but I like the looks of the Mansion side over the AB side. I've seen pictures of AKL and I would love to stay there, but sadly, it's not in the budget as of now! I'm hoping to stay at POFQ next trip, it seems like a lovely resort that everyone has positive things to say about.

I love the theme. It's like a vacation in a vacation. When I'm done with a park, I can go back to the resort and feel like I'm in another country...a place like Cancun without having to leave the US. It's so romantic and peaceful. I love that it SCREAMS MEXICO much more than the old south or New Orleans. I never understood the gators there either? What Disney movie are they from?

Gators are a fact of life in the south. I don't think they are meant to be from any movie. They are part of what makes the south, the south ;)

I think CSR is supposed to scream Mexico. That's the theming they were going for.

And POR FQ is lovely! It is our favorite!

I know it's a Mexican theme, I get that part, but it's overkill. I've been to Cancun and stayed in a hotel that was tastefully decorated, not like a paint store blew up in the room! Maybe have the bedspreads, or the beds, or the armoire, or the carpet, or the wallpaper border, or the vanity be colorful, but ALL OF THEM? It was sensory overload, not peaceful and romantic.

That is why I said the looks of the POFQ room appeal to me more, they're more subdued and deluxe looking. Looking forward to it, Northie! :thumbsup2

I guess that's why we are all lucky WDW has so many choices. Something for everyone.

If i have the money for AKL that's where I'll stay but if I don't I stay at CSR. If CSR is booked then I'll try POFQ THEN POR. After that it's POP or nothing.
