Animal Kingdom Appreciation Thread

First, you have to do right by the animals on something like that which can be difficult. Second, the insurance would go through the roof.

Yeah that's why it's only a dream of mine :guilty:

We love  AK! I think it is tied with MK as our family's favorite park. We love the atmosphere, attention to detail, and so many of the attractions. We can't wait to see the new finding Nemo musical and to ride EE on our trip next May! :simba:

my DBF and I spent probably 2 hours at RPW talking to one of the CM's about their veterinary program. We learned a lot that day, it was awesome!

And everyone look for the HM in the eye of the ostrich in the mural when you get to RPW!

RFW can be a fascinating place. I just wish it wasn't so difficult to get to. But maybe thats part of the charm.

I love animals and am even a volunteer at the Philly Zoo. So seeing how Disney really takes care of those animals and promotes conservation is wonderful! Ak is my fav park and AKL my fav hotel, and I can't get enough of the atmoshpere, especially Africa. (I'm not a big fan of the Dinoland though, it should be a little more Jurassic Park and way less corny kids carnival). But everything else is a dream to be in  , it would be the ultimate place to work. I can't say enough good things or this post would be ridiculously long :goodvibes !

I LOVE Animal Kingdom. That being said, DH dislikes it immensely. If I had the time, I would love to be able to explore it solo for a couple days, just to take in all the scenery. You can just tell that alot of thought was put into the littlest of details and that's what I can appreciate it. Then, add in the great rides, it is a fantastic park.

I admit that BEFORE I went to the park. I just thought it was a big Disney version Zoo and even told people that. :confused3 I hate the zoo and have never taken my kids. One trip I decided to give it a chance - oh my gosh - how wrong was I!!!

My family loves thrill rides and I have to admit I do not "take it all in" while touring the other three parks but AK is a different story. MY DD3 LOVES animals and this is a perfect place for him. There are rides and shows and things to look at one the walkways - people just really don't understand how great this park is. We still have not had a chance to go and see all the shows but we can spend a good 6hours there of doing other things and this is when we are rushing. Next time I am promising myself to take it easy and try to see everything - except that bird show :teeth:

I remember one time while standing in line for "Tough to be a bug" I was looking at all the carvings in the "Tree of Life" it's magnificent (sp?)

Yes, it hot. You are outside in Florida - DUH!!! :rolleyes1 (I live in FT. Laud and will sweat going from my house to the car :)

Give it a chance. You will love it. :cheer2:

I like AK, but I'm always on high alert which makes me extremely tired throughout the day -- see I have a HUGE aversion to snakes -- I am totally petrified of them (even pictures of them make me nervous and anxious) and the first time we went to AK (about six years ago or so) we walked around a corner and there was a handler with a huge boa and I was freaked out for the rest of the day -- I was paranoid and looking over my shoulder. So, whenever I go (and I do love the shows and rides so I DO go back) I'm always paranoid of seeing another snake -- this is why I stay far, far away from the Pochahantos (sp?) show.....ugh!

I guess my big thing is -- I am NOT an animal person, not at all -- the safari ride is fun, but I can't be right by the window as I'm so nervous something will get me -- I've lived in the city my whole life and love looking at animals from afar, the safari sometimes feels way too close to me.

The best thing about AK is The Lion King Show and It's Tough to be a Bug! Love those two shows -- makes the whole anxious trip worth it for me!

I am not sure if I could put AK as my #1 park. That changes daily anyway :) BUt I am definatley a convert. The first couple times I went I was underwhelmed. We always went in aug and it was extremely hot. I went again and Jan and it was a whole new experience. EE was a great addition but Dinosaur might steal the show. I have no clue why it wasn't a highlight on prior trips, but it is now one of my fave attractions!

AK is definitely my favorite park! One of my favorite spots, that I posted about elsewhere also, is if you go behind the FP machines by ITTBAB, there's a nice trail with close up views of the carvings of the Tree of Life. You go under a waterfall, hear the music of AK. But it's so peaceful back there. Another fun thing is the animal training show of Pocohauntas. You get to see them training(although it's more "reinforcement" than "training") the animals that are used in the show. Very interesting! I've done the Backstage Safari tour and hopefully some day, I'll get to do Wild By Design.

Mark and I love love love AK. Walking over the bridge and seeing the Tree of Life...Visiting Asia and Africa. Going back a millions of years and being chased by dinosaurs. Getting soaked on the Kali river rapids. Seeing a Kimodo Dragon(personal fav of mine) and Bengal tigers.....And the lodge. How beautiful. The gigantic fireplace in the lobby. The beautiful artwork throughout and where else can you sit and have coffee while you watch the giraffes, ostriches, gazelles, zebra, and ankole cattle graze and play.....Did I mention we love the Animal Kingdom :woohoo: :thumbsup2 :yay: :yay: :yay:

True enough but it can be so difficult that I will say "to heck with it" and go see the Tigers and bats again. Or another sandwich at the Flame Tree.
