Animal Kingdom After Dark?

Has anyone been to Animal Kingdom after dark?

What was it like?

Is the safari open?

Please tell me about your experience!

At the latest, the Animal Kingdom closes by dusk. Sorry.

Pandy Paws said that the safari closes at dusk, even when the park stays open later. We are thinking about doing AKL the day after Thanksgiving. It is open until 8:00. I would also like to know what it is like.

When they did the Park at Dark test back in May, Animal Kingdom was open at night.

This will bump it up, and maybe someone who experienced it can help you out.

It's very cool. We were at AK on Dec 31, 2002. It stayed open an hour later than normal on that day. We caught the last showing of FOTLK that started right at the time the park closed. When it was over (around 7:30) the Lion King audience was the only group of people left in the park. It was dark out (aided by the darkening clouds overhead that would later open up on the party goers in the other parks) and the place was beautiful. We had a nice slow walk out of the park and took lots of nighttime photos.

I was wondering the same thing when I saw the hours at 8:00 pm.

On Friday 11/26/04 Animal Kingdom is open till 8PM - Sunset is 5:30PM - AND it is also the night of The Full Moon!!

So, who has been to AK after dark and please share your experiences!!

I was there at dark a long time ago. They had a special AK at night safari. Lot's of animals were out, they spotlighted them. The lions were very active. I'm glad we did it.

Although AK park hours may extend during holidays...the Safari closes at Sunset. We currently send out the last Safari at 4:30pm.
I have been in the park many times after dark....I must say, the view of the Tree of Life bathed in a glow of floodlights is absolutely beautiful

In April Animal Kingdom will be having extra magic hours in the evening. Thus for Disney hotel guests they can stay until 8PM instead of 5PM. What is open, what time does it get dark in April, what will the park be like?

I too am anxious to experience AK during the evening EMH. I will make my itinerary around that one night during our upcoming December vacation. I love AK! Maggie

AK has extra magic hours in the evening (until 8:00 pm) during President's week, and I, too, have built my schedule around being in AK at night. What a treat!!!! I can hardly wait!

We were at WDW in early Jan and I remember seeing a sign stating that the last saferi tour left at 4:30 in the afternoon (which was close to dusk then). I imagine that the saferi ride would still close at dusk.

My wife and I were at Ak for a pin event a couple of years ago at night. AK can be a blast at night. The pin event was centered at Dinoland and Dinosaur was open all night. The AK is very pretty at night. Also, there was a very nice fireworks display for the pin event.
