Animal Crossing Issues...

Ok - so....how do you time travel?

When you start to play and the animal says are you ready to play you click on "other things". He says that's kinda vague then you select set date/time and a calendar then a clock comes up. You set these. Do not time travel back if you have turnips and if you go ahead the turnips will rot based on 7 days from the day you bought them. So if you bought the turnips Sat and time travel to next Sat they will be rotten. Hmmm, don't ask how I know this...

Lois - It's a deal - we are definitely playing Friday night.

Lisa - we have bought anywhere between 89 and 106. It just depends what she's selling them for. We sell by looking on that forum thread - usually for nothing less than 550 each.

Vicky (Bunny) - Charms come from katrina the fortune teller - you get one a month. Each player in your town might have a different one. You have a whole month to get the charm done and multiple people can do it, I believe. The people who come to your town and do the action reap the benefit - which is undefined.

Vicky (Gabby) - This is all random luck to get a specific piece of clothing that is available at Ables. Basically, I lucked out on a request like this one day - I had it in my own catalog. i went to Nook and bought the shirt out of my catalog and saved. I then had it in my mailbox when I signed back onto the game. Another time, Ables happened to have it the next day. I bought it and gave it to my sheep.

We will be checking out tonight and hopefully it is good. Pretty much if its over 100 I will be selling!!

How much do you normally buy when you buy them? My son and I take turns buying the red turnip.

I buy about 100,000 bells worth. I haven't been able to work out the forum selling deal yet. I usually sell them to Nook and make a profit (not as much as Nancy!), except for the week (duh) when I traveled back a few hours and they all rotted.:confused3

I should have known better!

No, we don't time travel any more.

We have lots of hybrids! Pink tulip, purple tulip, orange pansy, pink cosmos, blue pansy - but, I accidentally dug up my black rose (another duh).

I just read Nancy's post. Did you mean at what price? If so, it's usually around 100 bells (96, 94 thereabouts)

I will buy turnips for whatever price they are selling for. I usually buy between 1-2 million bells worth. I spend time on the boards looking for good prices to sell for. I usually come away with a 6mil profit at the end of the week.

By the way if anyone is worried about visiting other towns to sell turnips without WiiSpeak, don't worry. Most times when selling turnips it is very buisness like, just in and out people very rarely talk, so you will be fine without Speak.

If you don't want to visit other peoples town there is always The Stalk Market wizard:
http://www.kurtboyer.com/guides/AnimalCrossingCityFolk/StalkMarket/#turnips
you just enter your turnip prices for each day and it works out the best day to sell turnips or it will tell you to hold off for the moment. It is not always right and sometimes the game will not let you make a profit in the week, but I have found it to be pretty reliable and much better than guessing when to sell.

millions!!! I'm barely scraping bottom. I gotta make one of those forum deals one of these days.....:scared1:

Okay I am a little confused about the turnips...you only can sell them at Nook's correct? But if there is a town that they are higher, I can go there??
How do I find out where they are high and then how do I get there without the friend code.

Sorry...Im an airhead!

Lisa - you aren't an airhead. It's a good queztion if you've never done it. Once you do follow through with it, you'll wonder why you didn't do it before.

1) You join the turnip thread forum - Ian will post the link again - and then you look for the prices. (Ian does this for us).

2) The person selling will put their friend code up (you actually don't need town or name - that will fill in for you when you actually go to the town - something none of us really ever realized) and you enter it in. You post your code to that person and get in their "line", They will tell you when you are entered - although sometimes they do it right away and you just keep trying to enter the town until it lets you in. (If the town fills up to the 4 player quota, you have to wait until someone leaves.)

3) As someone else (Alice, I think) said, there is minimal talking. Just hello and thanks and such, so a keyboard works fine. You don't turn your Wii Speak mic on when going out to do "professional" turnip trading.

4) Payment is usually rendered on the way out of the town. Stop at the town owner and drop your payment bag. Some towns will ask for certain items as an entry fee and not bells, but it varies. When you are making over 500 bells per turnip, the entry cost of 99,999 bells won't break you.

Especially Wed Thurs and Fri. People will post threads with a subject that says something like "Turnips selling for 550. 99k entry fee". If you have turnips to sell, keep the page up and keep refreshing so you can spot any new threads that appear and get in early. Sometimes long lines can form quickly. This is easier if you have a laptop and can keep it next to you while you play.

In the first post they will give their friend code and any rules, like no running, stay on the paths, etc. Then you reply to the thread with your friend code, and maybe the number of trips you need to make (you can carry up to 1500 turnips at a time in your pocket).

The person who posted the thread will add friend codes in the order they were posted, sometimes only 4 or 5 at a time to avoid a traffic jam. Sometimes they will post to let you know you were added, sometimes you just need to keep watching for their gate to show up.

When you go over, head straight for Nooks, don't run, stay on paths if they have them. If you sell a full pocket of turnips, Nook might give you as much as 800,000 depending on the price. Your wallet goes up to 99,000, and the rest goes into bags of 99,000 bells each. If they are charging a 99k entry fee, just drop one of those bags at the entrance before you go out.

Most people prefer to keep WiiSpeak off when doing business. Basic etiquette is to ask before buying anything, picking anything up, taking fruit, etc. People who open their towns to strangers take some risk because there are people who will steal hybrids, cut down trees, or misbehave in other ways. They want to be able to keep an eye on everyone, so don't wander around on your way to Nooks and back.

When have made your last trip and are all finished, let the town owner know so they can add the next person if they are only doing a few at a time.

This is a good way to make a lot of bells, but it takes a little work to stay on top things and get into a turnip thread before the poster closes up shop. We haven't bought turnips in the last couple weeks because 10 million bells is enough right now. However when we do have turnips we manage to sell for 500+ every week no matter what our own Nooks is offering.

Thanks so much for all this info!!! I actually have my work laptop home with me tonight and have to do some work while my son plays so I will check it out. That is if our router is on board with my plan!:headache:

Okay so people just ask that you basically tip them for letting you go sell your turnips in their town? How do their prices get so high?? Thats incredible. Makes us feel like losertown when we can't seem to crack 100 anymore. :guilty:

You're not losertown. We've had them up to 604 in our town before. The game has a randomizer that generates a few different kinds of pricing week scenarios. Just so happens that we haven't had that high of a price in quite a while oruselves, or we've missed the peak. If you do the online program Alice suggested, you can get a feel of the scenarios.

Basically the entry fee to buy turnips (which is usually charged per trip, so if you have more than 1 pocketfull, you pay for each one) is the person's way to profit from their good fortune - entrepeneurship, if you will. We've done it and made some good bells from it!

We figured out how to catch fleas. Swing the Wiimote to swing the net. Swinging the remote doesn't start conversations like hitting the A button. We still got pretty sick of talking to Curt before we figured that out.

BTW, has anyone had a robot frog show up? He moved out a few days ago.

Our tunips were at 145 last night so we decided to just sell. My son only had 50 and I had 100 so we said we would be so embarassed to go to someone elses town to sell them with that little of an amount.:guilty: We had no idea that we were suppose to buy so many, not that we ever had the bells to do so. With our little amount we would not have been able to pay the turnip shark and we could have been stuck in some strange town with bell debt and we would be in the center of a Animal Crossing scandal.

Caught a flea last night. I just kept swinging the net behind Teddy and eventually landed it. I didn't have to have too many conversations.

Our guy Mac moved out and took his house with him. Maybe your frog will be moving in Conolan!

Good tip about the fleas, that was just too annoying to even try.:thumbsup2

I went and got my charm last night and it said that someone had to come in and chop down a tree. I guess that's not a bad thing since I want to try making an orchard.

Speaking of which... is there any trick to planting trees? When I played the original Animal Crossing on GameCube, I remember the game was a little more fussy about where trees were planted. I ended up with a lot of dead trees. But in this game, I noticed a lot of players have multiple trees in one area that are in a single row, kind of neat looking :) Just thought I'd ask before I went and destroyed and area and wasted a lot of fruit. I'm still trying to accumulate enough fruit first...

Our turnip prices are still pretty terrible. It was 64 bells all day. Oh well, I still have two days left. I only buy about 200 a week too. Once I get more fruit trees, I can afford to get more :)

I'll come over and chop down your tree if you want. Our charm is to have someone come over and plant 3 (or is it 4?) flowers.

Coconuts have to be planted on the lower tier, cedars seem to grow well for me near the back of the lower tier and on the upper tier.

If you chop down one tree and plant another tree there (like replace your home fruit with another fruit) it will grow.

I'm starting to replace some fruit trees with saplings in some of my corner areas to keep ourselves from running into those corners for the fruit, allowing the grass to grow better. I plant flowers under the saplings to encourage grass.

Have I sent you my codes yet?

We're in NJ so probably in the same time zone.

Oh oh!!! Nancy I forgot to tell you...my little penguin Roald was telling me all about how he heard Gusitown was so fancy and had so many shops. He sure was like to go there sometime.:thumbsup2
