Ani ideas on embelishment how tos?

I am ready to try exploring the new embelishment techniques but would love some hints from you experts out there. I love the look of vellum and brads (or eyelets), chalking (hoe do you set it?) and that twisty paper thread.

I am looking for either first hand accounts or links to layouts, instructions etc...

I'm either not brave enough or too lazy - or a combo of both - cause I've never done this.

I would recommend buying a copy of Creating Keepsakes magazine - there's lots of pages each month using these techniques. A good website to visit that shows thousands of page layouts is www.twopeasinabucket.com . Just go there and then click on the layouts link.

www.d-marie.com is another great site with thousands of page layouts as well.

I have used chalking quite a bit, I don't set it with anything, as long as you blend it in really well you will be fine, mine has not rubbed off on anything!! Not even the page protector. With chalk you have to remember that a little goes a long way!! I use q-tips for my applicators and sometimes blend with my finger. I love www.gracefulbee.com it has tons of how too's, take some time to explore all the links on the left hand side of the home page-you will learn alot! Brads are very easy to use, just cut a teeny slit and poke it thru and then spread back the two tines. I have used them for decoration on titile squares and to attach tags to my page. I have just started with eyelets, they look great as well. I have some twistel but have not used it yet. Would also like to try some things with wire!

Take a look at all the links on www.scraplinks.com . They have links with a little of everything. You could get lost in there for weeks!

I've used all of the things you mentioned except the twistel. Conventions or classes are great because they give you the chance to try new materials like these. Feel free to PM me and I'll try to answer any of your questions, if I can.
