I'm staying at Ramada Maingate. It is it an easy drive to a BB game from there...about how long will it take? Tell me about the parking situation - are there surface lots near the stadium or will I need to find a parking ramp? Any advice appreciated. TIA :goodvibes

It is about a 5 minute drive, if that. The stadium has a huge parking lot.

Thanks - we like to go to a game whenever we are near a city with a MLB team. Some cities can be tough to get around. :cool1:

The Stadium is really close. Chances are fair that you will see it when driving to DL for the freeway.

In addition to driving, ART and OCTA(munipal bus) go there.

The hardest part about driving is you will have to make a Uturn as you can only exit the Ramada going North on Harbor. So up to the intersection of Harbor and Manchester you can make a U turn or go right on Manchester. Then take either back to Katella, go left onto Katella. Down about a mile on the right is the entrance into the parking which is in a large lot around the stadium.

Doesn't get much easier than that.

If you're heading north on Harbor, just make a right turn onto Manchester. It curves around and takes you to Katella, where you'll make a left to go to the stadium. When you get to State College Blvd, you can make a right and the main entrances to the stadium parking will be on your left (at Gene Autry Way), about a block up. The drive from your hotel to the stadium will be about 10 minutes, if there's some game day traffic around the stadium.

Enjoy the game! The stadium is terrific and, believe it or not, it's the 4th oldest still standing in the U.S..

FWIW, we went to an Angels game on July 28, 2010.

Here are some photos.

My son James (8) and my daughter Jean Marie (7) in front of Angel Stadium:

Buying tickets at the gate took more than a half hour.

Game time was 12:35pm. In the photo below you can see the line for tickets. We got in the line at 11:52am. The ticket booth was located just
below where it says "All-Star Game" -- and the line must have been 100 yards long. The Angels were playing the Boston Red Sox. Waiting in line
for tickets wasn't a good start, but we did manage to buy the tickets and see the first pitch of the game.

We wanted seats between home plate and first base, and we wanted to pay between $30 and $40 per ticket.

We got tickets that were about half-way between home and first, for $35 per ticket.

Here's our view as the Angels took the field!

Later in the game they announced that the game was sold out, with attendance of 44,052, but it didn't look too crowded when the game started.

Here's a close-up of the upper deck. We sat in the seats in the lower section of the upper deck ("Lower View MVP"), about seven rows up.

The 2nd Inning:

It was a beautiful day, but it does get hot in the direct sunlight. Luckily, every park in Anaheim has to have a Splash Mountain: :earsboy:

Third inning:

Later in the game, in the 8th inning, the shortstop Marco Scutaro hit a Grand Slam to give the Red Sox a 7-3 victory. (Josh Beckett got the Win.)

Here's the last pitch of the game:

As we were leaving the park, I took this photo of the field from the lower level. It really is a beautiful park.
(It's the fourth oldest active MLB stadium, behind Fenway Park, Wrigley Field, and Dodger Stadium.)

Palm trees! Gotta love southern California!

Hope this helps. :earsboy:

If you don't have tix yet, I'm a huge fan of Stub Hub. Other than the ridiculous 10% "fee" (which I guess you get everywhere, but still when you are buying 4 seats at $100 each....), they are awesome. Can see the exact price for each section and row. Good stuff!

Thanks for all the info. Thanks also for the pictures, they are great - your kids are too cute!!! I'm really starting to get excited about our vacation as all the plans come together. I'm sure this is a dumb question - how far would it be to walk to the stadium? - not that I am planning to do that!!! :rotfl2:

Thank you for sharing your pics I almost forgot what the stadium was like. You have beautiful children.
