Just a quick hi....haven't had a chance to read posts from earlier today but I noticed this one. LK - It's no longer a Marriott, it's a Holiday Inn!!! I noticed last month when we were at DTD and then once we were home I checked the like we had for the Courtyard and I was directed to a Holiday Inn website.

THey may have similar deals but I wanted to give you a heads up.

Bethany - i also agree that it is not rambling talking about your son. you never know when someone else is going through the same thing and can offer advice - like MP.

Sandi - hoping little doggie feels better and can soon get around w/ no problem.

FM - sorry I can't do the lunch tomorrow since I have to work - hopefully we can reschedule and Sue can join us.

Getting the kids ready for bed. Will be able to be on more tomorrow at work.

Wow, leave for a couple of hours and looky what happens.

Bethany, again, I am amazed at all that you have said. I have an autistic cousin, his behaviors were noticable from the start, he never was able to progress far, but then again 20 years ago, "main streaming" was for the few, and special ed was more like babysitting. God bless you and yours.

Gail, a Holiday Inn???? Good thing I got the Marriott points from my sisters trip there last year!

DQ means ice cream to me, too! I have no Disney QUest answers, as the only thing that interested me in that building was the gift shop where they sold Mickey beanies and the Cheesecake Factory snack shop, but I am NOT spending 30 bucks to eat lousy cheesecake. But our Angel Gaspode seems to love the Quest, so maybe when she gets back she can give you the true scoop, Lars.

Sorry if I am missing any catch up, I had drinks with Pete when he got home, and I am feeling a tad happy!

SB: that's OK about lunch. Sue was mad she was missing it anyway. Kevin is bummed about not meeting Shannon though! He asked me everyday this week. What is that girl's name again? lol

LK: when in August? Care to join our caravan, ha ha. We are leaving the 8th. We are hoping for AP rates at POR. I have never made it to DQ on any of my trips. On my list of things to do.

Sandi: sorry about your dog. My sister is having the same problem with her dog right now too. She has had to carry him all around.

Bethany: My DS, Kevin, age 6, has a slight sensory integration problem also. At least, that is what we think it is. He has speech issues and was borderline for OT. I was able to push for speech through school but not able to get the OT. He has been receiving speech for years. He does the holding ears thing, but it is not as bad as it used to be. He hates loud noises of any kind. Our first trip to Disney was a nightmare for him. As he got older, it has become much better, but he is still afraid that things will be too loud for him.

Speaking of trips to Disney, do you think it is a sign of going too much if your daughter makes small world costumes for her stuffed animals and then puts on a show with music and dancing for you to come watch while she plays the small world song??? She gave us tickets to her show tonight that we had to go watch. My DH thinks I am creating a monster, lol! :D

Also, I couldn't take the guilt about the cleaning lady secret, so I told him tonight. He actually said we could try it for awhile. I am glad I told him. It was making me feel terrible!

have a good night.
OOOh, just realized I am missing AI then 24. Gotta go.

Im not picking on you Marsha, but using your post as a jumping point.
When most people hear the word 'autism' they automatically get a vision of Rainman or of a kid banging his head off the wall and babbling or screaming. There is a HUGE variation in degrees of autism. Sam is about as high functioning as they get, and then is goes downhill from there. I have a nephew less functioning than Sam, but he is still verbal. And I have seen kids that scream and flap their hands all day. Sam will probably be tested for Asperger's as soon as he is old enough to take an IQ test. Asperger's usually doenst get diagnosed until the kids ae about 7 or 8.
I would never have though autism for Sam because he talked and was able to carry on conversations. He didnt 'act' autistic.
I thank you all again for your kind words. I dont feel like I was handed a tough hand or anything. I see moms that have more severely disabled kids and know they are the ones with a tougher deal than me. I am just trying to get what Sam deserves and help him become a wonderful person.

Here is what I discovered Sam doing in his room one day last week. He lined up all his McDonalds 100 year toys and a good portion of his Matchbox cars in front of his Disney bank......its the Stars and Motor Cars Parade, LOL

Hi all, I think I am calling it quits early tongiht... the benadryl is really getting to me.

I had no clue about that Courtyard though!!!

Okay my brain died... Bethany cute pic!!!!

And with that I will apologize and just go to sleep :)

Elaine - Hey we are neighbors:) I actually live somewhat close to the shootings. One of the school buses was shot just down the street at an intersection I go through alot. I wont drive past 71 on 270 now. I figure it isn't worth it.

Bethany - I think it is really neat that you are sharing so much about your son. I know alot of people don't really understand autism. My neighbors daughter was Dx'd with Asperger's last year, but I'm not sure how since she was only 5. She does have sensory issues though. Her hearing is very sensitive. I've been told she could hear an ant walk across the floor in her kitchen. She is a very social little girl though and plays with others and not just next to them.

Sandi- I'm sorry to hear about your dog. Several years ago we had a dog stop at our house that was looking for an owner. (He was lost,no tags, so we found him a new home) He was a BIG dog, possibly part Rott, and he had a hip problem. Thankfully we didn't have to help him up stairs or anything. His new owner told us it was hip dysplasia. He had another dog with the same problem so he was experianced with it thankfully.

WHen I saw DQ all I could think of was ice cream. ;) We didn't get to DQ when we were there in June. I'm hoping to go in November though. I think Nick would have fun from what I have read about it. The heat just zapped our energy so we never went.

I am starting to really feel last night's workout. My arms and chest are getting sore:( I am really tired tonight for some reason. (Hmm...could be partly due to rude awaking at midnight by the washer making a really loud noise becuase the load became off balance!) Well I guess I better go attend to Nick. He is moaning and groaning that his tummy hurts. (Very dramatic like, not really sick like. Probably a gas bubble) Hmm he doesn't think I'm watching and he is moving around just fine with out groaning. I'm going to go give him the most dramtic acting award:rolleyes:

Sarah just called. Seems like she is having a good time. She is meeting the Delgates and hanging out with the other Pages. They went to the mall and to the movies this afternoon.

Have to go watch Judging Amy. See you on the riddle.

Carol~I'm glad that Sarah is doing well!

Bethany~In our school system the Asbergers diagnosis is commonly made during or after 1st grade.
I have a cousin who has autism that is the severe non-communicating type. Until I began working I had no idea the different degrees of autism that there are. I have another cousin with highly functioning autism who sounds very much like Sam~they are around the same age too.

Carolyn~I am sore today from my workout yesterday.....my arms are killing me.....right at the arm pit area from presses....ouch!!! I sympathize with you!!

Before I go to bed............

Carol, it is nice to hear Sarah is doing well.

Bethany, Sam is amazing! I find nothing odd in his ability to discuss WDW trip planning, etc. I thought that's what we wll do, adults and kids! Those that don't best get with the program. And I loved the Parade!

FM - Your daughter is creative, for sure. At least she isn't charging you for the admission tickets!

Sandy, my little dog Sadie hurt herself when she was less than a year old, we have no idea what she did, but she has holding up one foot for a while. She was able to do the stairs, tho, but she never sat straight after that, she always sits on her right hip. I hope yours gets over it, too.

I think I best sign off, I need to get in the bed and get warm. It is snowing, maybethe dogs will hold it all night so I don't have to go out in it at 11 or 1 or 3!

morning all, wasn't around yesterady and haven't caught up yet.....just wanted to say hi.

we go to New York tomorrow!!!

Carol, Glad to hear that Sarah is doing well!
SB, LK, and Donna, Have a great time at lunch today!!

Bethany, you're right. I, myself, never realized the huge variation of degrees in autism.
A very good friend of mine has a son with autism. He is not very high functioning and hardly verbal. He's about 9 years old now.
so when I hear autism, I think of Jake.

My friend, Margaret, who's husband died in December, is on a plane right now headed to Orlando with her 4 kids for their first trip ever to WDW!!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I was really feeling kinda depressesd yesterday, it just breaks my heart to see Tia trying to struggle around the house on these hardwood floors. If I'm not right there and she falls, she's stuck on her belly until someone pulls her back up.
