Told you I don't trust those quick strep tests. I think they are just another way for the docs to make a little money. When the kid stays sick you have to get another test. Grrrr.
You guys are nuts today. All I could think of was "an Oklahoma hello" from the musical Oklahoma.
I'm frustrated with my mother and need to vent a little. First, she went to our doctor the other day for the stress test and passed it. But still keeps having tightness in her neck and shortness of breath. The doc wants her to have a balloon procedure and she refuses to do it. She's scared. She says she passed the stress test and it's just asthma related. When we were at MIL's a week or so ago, Mom got on the treadmill at 1 mph and had to stop because she couldn't catch her breath. That's not right and I'm the one that is going to suffer if she has a major heart attack or stroke. How do you MAKE a parent do what they should do? Sorry that sounds selfish, but if it can be avoided, why? Our doc is a good friend. I told her I was going to talk to him about it next time I see him and she got really angry with me. But I'm scared for her not to have it done.
Secondly, she has a new boyfriend. She has been very blue since Harvey broke up with her, so I'm happy that she's met someone new. She is a people person and gets very lonely. She thinks life can't go on if she doesn't have someone who loves her. This guy seems reallly nice. I've spoken to him on the phone and will probably meet him this coming weekend. He's very much a gentleman, hasn't expected to jump into bed, etc. But she's doing the same thing she's done before. She's head over heels and she hasn't known him long. I've begged her to go slow, but they sound like a couple of teenagers. I'm sure they've talked about getting married. Since my dad died, she's been hurt several times by rushing into relationships. Why can't she go slow? And why does it make her think I'm not happy for her? I'm thrilled. I just want her to REALLY get to know him before they get engaged. I told her this afternoon that she didn't have a very good track record - she's made some poor choices. That was the wrong way to go. She got really upset with me. But it was true. She has fallen for a couple of guys who treat her like dirt and then continues to let them treat her like a doormat. I hate it.
Okay, vent over. Any advice would be appreciated. Anyone else having to parent a parent?

Uneventful day here. I spent a good part of the morning listing stuff on eBay, then I spent a good part of the afternoon reading my Cleopatra book. I did a couple loads of clothes in between chapters.
I also got my invitation to be room-mom again this year. Another mom and I have been calling each other every couple of days 'did you get one yet?' We both get ours today, so we are happy to be working together this year. She was room-mom for the afternoon kindergarten last year, I had mornings. This year our kids are together so we both got picked along with one other mom (we dont know who yet)

MP...I go through similar things with my dad, I am almost ot the point of washing my hands of him. He is on a very self destructive path and nobody can reach him

Well, I'm finally home... rather tired today and after checking in I am going to take a long hot shower. I went over to Kevin's mom's house (sister of the family friend that died) and we had a nice time over there. Haven't done a thing else today and kind of tired.
Steph, so sorry about AJ having strep. I don't trust the quick tests either... actually Luis had it pretty bad in February I think, and the one test didn't show it, but the 2 day thing sure did and they were shocked it wasn't picked up. Hope he feels better soon.
Missy I wish I had advice for you... I am not quite there with my dad yet and I admit he has never dated once since my mom died almost 11 years ago. My heart goes out to you!
