Angelrose's Journey

I have had a wonderful weekend. Saturday we had our Christmas pictures done at the mall. Then we stopped at IHOP for breakfast. I had their egg nog pancakes. Oh so good, but oh so sweet. We drove home and Karen showed me the card she designed on the computer. Then she added the new Christmas pictures. It looked amazing. She asked me if I would like the card with different pictures. YES. She she did that for me and ordered them from Shutterfly. I can't wait to get them.

We all took a nice nap and then I babysat while Chuck and Karen went shopping.

Sunday I went swimming while the kids had their swimming lessons. I don't swim well. hmmmmmm Let me rephrase that. I swim terribly. Karen kindly gave me some pointers because she was a competitive swimmer in school. The pointer that had me laughing was, "Mom, keep your butt up in the air". :rotfl2:

When I remembered to kick I was doing it all wrong too. She had me holding on to the end of the pool and trying to keep my butt up and kicking. It was hard! I could keep it up for all of 5 seconds and then my legs would be down to the bottom. But I had fun and it was a good workout for an hour, and I will keep practicing.

Today Karen and I took Jesse out for the day. His birthday is Wednesday, so we gave him one present today and he gets the rest on Wednesday. We took him to Toys R Us and Karen let him pick out one present. Then we went to Chuck E Cheese. Jesse loves to play the games. I sat there and read my Kindle while Karen stayed with Jesse. He had so much fun.

We stayed there for two hours and had a pizza for lunch. We stopped at Sports Authority so I could get some swim goggles and a cap. We picked up Zoey and went to Target to see if we could get their flu shots there. Their pediatrician had run out. Well, Target is not allowed to give children the flu shots. No there is something very weird going on. The doctors have run out of the shots. Who has them?? Target has them, CVS and most drug stores have them, grocery stores have them, but no one is allowed to give the shots to children but pediatricians. Talk about a vicious circle.

We came home and rested for an hour and then took the kids to the dentist for teeth cleaning. They both did so well. Zoey didn't cry at all. I watched the kids in the play room while Karen watched the other while they were in the dentist chair.

We got home a little before 5 and I said hello to Chuck and goodby and went home.

I get to see them again on Wednesday when we all go out to dinner. Well, actually I get to see them tomorrow when I pick up Jesse from the bus.

I love being so busy.

And I love hearing how your family keeps you so busy!

Your Monday sounded like fun. And when my kids were little and in swim lessons, I took a few lessons from their teacher. I still can't turn my head and breathe properly when swimming!

Thanks minniecarousel. I would like to be able to swim correctly. I can do the breathing right, just not the swimming part. LOL

Today I did a new ab workout that Karen gave me to try. It's crunches, leg lifts and planking. I can do 20 crunches, 19 leg lifts and can hold the planking for 30 seconds. That is a workout!

I'm looking forward to tomorrow so I can give Jesse the rest of his gifts and go out to dinner with the family.

We had snow flurries today. It was pretty to look at but I'm sure glad it stopped after a couple of minutes and didn't stick to anything. Definitely too cold and windy today. It's much too early for that.

Good morning ladies. I've been away from the computer lately, hope all is well. Last week I had a very stressful day, had to give a deposition on a car accident I was in three years ago. I was worried for weeks ahead of time, so glad it is finally over. Now to see if there is a trial :crazy2:

Lots to catch up on, see you all soon :wave2:

So good to see you again snappyd. I hope everything goes well with the accident outcome. I have been through that and it is very upsetting.

I have been so busy with the kids. Jesse had a couple of bowling birthday parties to go to. I haven't been bowling since I was in my teens! I used to love it and would go every Saturday with my cousin. One memorable day I got a 181. The first three frames I got strikes. I was so excited. It never happened again. But I used to have an average of 120.

This day I played three games. The first game I broke 50. :rotfl: The second I got 68 and my very last game I got a 76. YIPPEE I was happy......until I looked at Jesse's score which was an 80. sighhhhhhhhhhhhhh I was beaten by a 6 year old.

I'm still decorating. I got the big living room all decorated and Chuck put up my tree. Now I have to decorate the tree which will take 3 or 4 days.

Tomorrow I have to get Jesse on the bus which means I have to get up at 5:30 so I can leave at 6:30 to be there at 6:45. Chuck and Karen have to leave early. Then I go back at 1:30 because Jesse has a half day. I will be staying until around 6:30. They have parent/teach conference at 5. Jesse still has trouble being quiet and listening but he is getting better.

We all went to see Free Birds Sunday. It was really cute. Don't tell anyone, but I fell asleep at the beginning and woke up about a half hour later. When it comes out on dvd, I will probably have to watch it again. For the original Star Trek fans, you will recognize the voice of Sulu (George Takai). And at the very end he gives his signature comment. I loved that.

This Saturday we will be going to another birthday bowling party. I hope I can beat Jesse this time. How pathetic is that??

Wow, I haven't been bowling in years! We used to get up early on Sunday because it was 1/2 price! Now I want to go bowling - I remember the last time I went high top sneakers were in style - I had a new pair of pink and white Reeboks. We ordered french fried and I spilled ketchup on them! :lmao:

Oh my goodness. :rotfl2: Isn't it funny the things we remember?

When my cousin and I went at first there were actual pin boys resetting the pins. We were so excited when they went automated. Then that small alley closed up and a big, modern one opened up on the boardwalk in Atlantic City. WOW it was so amazing to us. They had about 20 lanes instead of the 4 from the old one. Each game was $1 and you had to keep your own score.

Now each game is $2 and it's automatic scoring. Times have changed.

My cousin and I each had our little Buddha for good luck. Then we each got our own shoes and ball. That was fun. There was also a very short Italian man who used to come and just sit and watch the people play. He never did. We used to call him the "Little Old Wine Maker" after a commercial popular at the time for, I think Gallo wine. We always had good luck when he was around.

One time my cousin got a strike and he jumped up and then fell down. I laughed myself silly and so did he. Then I got up. And did the exact same thing with the exact same result. :rotfl:

Good times.

Wishing you all a safe, healthy and HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!!!!

Same to you snappyd.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING to all my dear friends. I am so thankful for all of your support through the years. You'll never know how much it means to me.

Well, I had a very busy Thanksgiving holiday. I was at the kids house by 8 on Thanksgiving. I played with the kids down in the basement and Chuck and Karen decorated the tree and some outside. We came up for lunch and then thankfully the kids both went down for a nap. So did the rest of us. I really needed that nap. After 2 or 3 hours of playing with the kids I am exhausted.

The kids played by themselves down in the basement while I relaxed a bit more and then went back down to play with them while Chuck and Karen finished up the tree and did the outside.

Our turkey dinner was so good. I ate more than I should, but just couldn't help myself. The turkey was moist, the stuffing was so tasty, the green bean casserole was good and so was the mashed potatoes. We waited a couple of hours before we had dessert. That was a pumpkin ice cream pie and it was amazing. Chuck said he would rather have a regular pumpkin pie. What can I say? My son is boring.

Black Friday I was there again by 9. They were finishing up the the decorations for the house. Then we went out to Bob's Garden Center to look at their decorations and ornaments. Oh my I just love to do this every year. I found an angel figurine and an elf. Karen found a silly light up tree for outside and I bought the kids each an elf for their room. We stopped at Target and picked up a few things and then came back home.

We had left overs for dinner and I got home around 9.

Saturday I had the morning to myself and then Chuck called to see if I still wanted to go to Storybook Land with Karen and the kids. Of COURSE I did. It was really cold, but the lights there were so pretty and both kids loved the rides. Both kids wanted me to ride with them on the ferris wheel. Then I rode all the rides with Jesse and Karen rode with Zoey.

Then we went on the merry go round. I climbed on my horse and a certain part of my anatomy froze. That was one looooong ride. I told Karen and she thought that was quite amusing. I bought the kids light up mugs with hot chocolate and one for Karen and myself. That really hit the spot. So did the funnel cake. After that we went home.

Sunday I went swimming and then played with the kids in the water while Karen finished her laps. Finally I had to rush the kids out of the pool, because I had to use the rest room. It kind of sneaks up on you in the pool.

I got both kids dried off and into their clothes and then me. Karen came in and after getting dried off and back into clothes we all left.

After all this activity I was so tired, all I wanted to do was sit in front of the tv and vegetate.

Monday I went out and had a healthy omelet at IHOP and did some last minute Christmas shopping and came home. I picked Jesse up from the bus and helped him with his homework and then came home.

Today I spent an hour and a half blowing leaves off my front yard. Each year I forget how much I hate doing it. LOL But I got one side done and the other side almost done. Tomorrow I will get out there and blow the ton of leaves off to the other side of the driveway and hopefully do the rest of the driveway. I have a loooooong driveway. I want to get it all done by the end of the week. We're supposed to have rain on Friday and then ice pellets on Saturday and rain on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Perfect weather to stay inside and write out my Christmas cards and wrap all the presents.

I take it you have your shopping & decorating done? I've barely started!

We had a great Thanksgiving. I need to learn to sit down once in a while because my feet & legs hurt by late afternoon. Sooo glad we put in a "bubble" tub - very relaxing and helped my legs.

We had 2 turkeys and a ham, along with the usual side dishes. My brother and his wife brought their 6 foster kids, along with their triplets and college-aged son. Us aunts/uncles have decided to pool some $$ and buy gifts for the fosters. We're all wondering how long these kids will be with them (it's been since May). The kids are either steps or half siblings and the custodial mom won't get her act together (drug rehab).

The topper to the day was a phone call from my son in New York. They had a nice day with his wife's family. Still miss him!

Decorating was done last week because I start on November 2. Shopping was finally done Monday.

My goodness what a feast you prepared! No wonder your legs and feet were sore. But so glad you had a wonderful day.

I finished blowing off the leaves this morning. It took me a little over two hours, but it is all done. My right arm is 10 feet long now and my legs and ankle aren't speaking to me. No more yard work until the spring, thank goodness.

Only thing I have left to do is cards and wrapping and of course baking. Those will be the fun things.

Hi all! It was nice to see the family for Thanksgiving, but also nice to go home to a quiet house, lol!

I'm not a shopper - I give all the nieces and nephews money for Christmas, I have no clue what any of them would want. As for the adults, it's usually bottles of wine or a gift card.

I am enjoying my Christmas music on the iPod, but I can do without all the TV advertising - I think I'll scream if I hear "every kiss begins with K" or the like one more time - and we have weeks to go!

Wow, I sound scrooge-y, lol ;)

snappyd, you are so funny. But I agree with you 100%. That's why I dvr everything so I can zap through commercials. I think the only shows I watch are Rachael Ray and the Price is Right in the morning. Those I can watch while doing other things and don't really see the commercials.

WHen I'm not watching a show, I usually keep the tv on Music Choice. Right now I'm listening to all Christmas music, but the rest of the year, I'm listening to easy listening. Yeah, I like Lawrence Welk music.

Some people have an elf on the shelf. I have a mischevious bear. This morning he said Eeyore looked thirsty (I think he was trying to drown him!)

I have my hands full with this little guy, but I'll be back soon.......

snappyd that is so funny. Poor Eeyore, he does have his problems, doesn't he?

Are you sure it was the bear? He looks so innocent!

Looks can be deceiving! He also broke into my wine!!

Oh nooooooooooo, not your wine. Say it isn't so. :faint:

You wouldn't think something that looks so sweet could be so devious!

He said the snowman looked "cold" and he was trying to warm him up :scared1: :sad2:

Goodby Frosty and Hello Melty. I think Bear is going to get coal in his stocking!
