Angelrose's Journey

4nana, I hope your mom is still on the road to recovery. Let us know how she is doing. Still sending prayers.

Angelrose, love that pix of Jessie asleep. Bless his heart. :cloud9:

Glad you've started planning your Disney trip. Always great to have something on the back burner to look forward too! :thumbsup2

Ladies, thx so much for all the prayers . Praise God, Mom is improving a little each day and thankfully pain lessening. We moved her to the rehab center over week-end, so of course the new environment, surroundings, people and meds, take time to adjust, along with bouts of anxiety. Had her staples out today and ortho says fractures are healing and will move to next step in physical and occupational therapy. :goodvibes

My bro stops by to see her in morns, DH & I take afternoon shifts, and my sis takes evening shifts. We feel more comfortable having family with her till she's a little stronger and familiar with place. She has always lovingly been there for us, now we are more than happy to be there for her. Again, thank you so much for the continued prayers, I can feel your love and appreciate it. ((hugs))

Thank you 4nana. Jesse is quite the handful. He's almost 6 and still having those temper tantrums. We thought he would be over them by now. I guess we have a ways to go yet. Zoey is the calm one. She can sit still and cuddle with you or her stuffed animals and be happy. Jesse always needs to be active doing something.

Glad your mom is improving. She will get used to her new place in time. It's wonderful that you and your family can be there for her.

Angelrose the vacation home looks amazing! I love staying on property at French Quarter but the idea of having your own space, plenty of bathrooms, and a pool is really enticing. We hope to go with friends in a couple of years and that might be the time to do it.

So glad you're planning your trip. Honestly I enjoy the planning almost as much as being there! I said almost. :)

Praying for your mom 4nana.

Thank you teacherlisa1978. These homes are wonderful! So comfortable and only about 15 minutes from Disney. It's very private and quiet. You really feel like it's YOUR home.

For the price we wouldn't even be able to stay at one of the value hotels at Disney. This way all 5 of us are together. We each have our own rooms and the master and queen rooms are suites. You don't have to worry about kids in the pool because it's only yours. LOL I would never go back to staying on site. I think this one is around $105 a day for the first part of February.

I love planning Disney trips! Not sure when we'll go back to WDW. Disneyland is our home park and only a 6 hour drive away. In fact, I need to think about whether I want to plan a trip for DH & me this Fall. I have a milestone birthday in October & I think I'd like to go to Disneyland.

I had a relaxing 3 day weekend with my sisters this past weekend. We went a little north to Santa Rosa, home of the Charles Schulz Museum. Sunday was my oldest sister's birthday and she's a Snoopy nut. We can't believe that we've never gone there. We also took in a winery and went to the Jack London House in the small town of Glen Ellen. Such a beautiful area. Unusually cool weather lately which was good, since it can get hot there!

2 more weeks, then back to work. At least I can't say "where did the summer go?", because DH & I had our 12 day trip to New York!

(4nana, continued prayers for your Mom.)

Hi minniecarousel. We each told Karen what restaurants we want to visit. Now that we have that down, she will get the reservations and then we can plan what park on which day. It's coming together nicely.

I had such a fun day on Friday. My cousin Joan and I went to IHOP and stuffed ourselves. We stopped at Walmart, Acme, the mall, a beauty supply store and finally Kohls. We were in her pool by 12:30. We talked and laughed and did some "remember when". By 2:30 I was pruned out and went home and washed my hair and relaxed for an hour and then got dressed to go to Chuck's. Chuck called me on my cell phone to tell me that my phones were out. So I had to run upstairs and reset my modem AGAIN. I have to do that every couple of days for some reason.

Chuck drove me to Red Robin where we met Karen and the kids. Jesse sat next to me so I could keep him occupied until our food came. After we finished, we played "spider on my head". He would put his hand on my head and I would say, "OH NOOOOOOO, there is a big spider on me head". Then I would slowly whap myself in the head, and strangely miss that spider every time. He would laugh so hard at this. In fact the little boy in the next booth laughed at it too.

I drove home with Karen so I could stay in the car while she ran in to get some bras. When we got home I got each kid a story after they brushed their teeth and got on their jammies. Off to bed they went with kisses and hugs.

We spent about an hour discussing our trip and then I drove home. There was a lot of lightning in the sky but it was south of us. It was really beautiful to look at. I kept wishing the red lights would be longer so I could watch it. LOL

Today I got up at 6 and was at the grocery store right at 7 when it opened. I got a few things, came home and put them away, and then got the trash loaded in my car for the dump.

I came home and read for a half hour and then went back to Chuck's. We went to see Wolverine at the 10:10 showing. There were a whole two other people in the whole theater. But we both enjoyed the movie.

I got home around 1 and had my lunch. I thought about getting in the pool, but just couldn't get my body to move. I took a nap instead.

Tomorrow I have to get up at 6 again to be at Chuck's by 7:15 for swimming lessons. We will have our usual bagels for lunch and I will stay with the kids, while Chuck and Karen do their shopping. The kids will be taking a nap, so I can read. I'll probably be home around 2.

I'll get back to swimming on Monday I'm sure.

I needed that today. I have been getting phone calls from Horizon Blue Cross everyday for three weeks. All times of the day and into the evening. The latest they called was 8:45pm. The reason for the calls is that they wanted to offer me a free in home health evaluation. I never answered because I wasn't interested. You would think that they would get the idea. Nahhhhhhhh

Today was the best. I got four calls in a row. The fourth time I picked up the phone and before she could go into her spiel, I cut in. "Are you people MENTAL?? You have called me twenty times and I never answered because I WASN'T INTERESTED. Now today you call me four times IN A ROW. LEAVE ME ALONE". I think I may have scared her. I think she was afraid I was going to hit her through the phone. :rotfl: She immediately said she would put me on the do not call list. I really would have liked to slam the phone down, but you don't get the same satisfaction from the handheld ones.

I am here getting caught up in your latest updates, I am going to your Dollywood TR next but wanted to respond to this. My MIL has gotten these calls from here Health Insurance too, she has one called MVP/Preferred Care Gold and they called her last week and she let the guy have it. LOL

Good for your mom mdmr2. They just get beyond annoying. Hope she made their ears ring. :lmao:

Hi snappyd. I'm sorry, it said page not found. But I only take pictures with my camera.

Oh sorry! It was a news report that showed someone can track your location if you post a picture taken with a cell/smart phone. You need to go into the settings and disable the gps for the camera part of the phone.

Thank goodness the weather has cleared, I can actually breathe today :thumbsup2

DH is taking some more vacation time, so I'll be away again for the next 9 days. Hope everyone is enjoying their summer :beach:

4nana. Thank you! Not necessary but very much appreciated.

Hello my friends. I know I haven't been on in a while, but I've been in a slump. I've finally started to lose weight again, so I feel better about myself.

I've been having a good time with my cousin the last couple of Fridays. We eat at IHOP and shop and last week it was too chilly, so we went to a movie. Now anytime we get together you know something is going to go crazy. I checked the movie schedule to see Paranoia and it said 11am was the first.

So after IHOP we did some shopping and got to the movie right on time. Before we get to the counter, I look up at the time and it says the first show is at 1pm. I guess they changed it. DRAT! So we did a bit of shopping and we go back at 1, only to find out that whoever put the time in the slot, didn't put it in all the way. So it showed 1 instead of 11. Now we had to wait until 1:50 for the next show. You couldn't help but laugh at this.

So we went to 5 and below. It's like the dollar store except it's $5. Joan got mad at me because she was spending more money at each store. LOL We finally stopped in the frozen yogurt store and had a cup. That used up our time and we did get to see the movie.

I knew we would like it because it got bad reviews. It was really good and I could watch it again.

I came home to find Chuck in my drive. He returned some tools he borrowed and was concerned because I didn't answer my home phone or cell. I forgot to turn my phone on after the movie. He wanted to know if I would babysit while he and Karen went out to dinner and did some shopping.

So I put all my stuff away, grabbed a hard boiled egg for dinner and was out the door.

I got there just as Karen was coming home with the kids. Both kids ran up to meet me as soon as the car door was open. I love those hugs.

We went inside and they got their dinner while Chuck and Karen went out to dinner. I let them watch one cartoon each before bed. It was a trial getting them into bed. Zoey has to have about three hugs and kisses before she goes to sleep. Then I had to rub her arm and back for a few minutes. Then she was up to go potty. Then Jesse was up to go potty. I finally got them both to lay down and turn off the lights.

Chuck and Karen came home around 8:30. They showed me some of the party things they got for the Pirate and Princess party in September. We chatted for a while and I got home around 9:30.

Karen has been sick this whole week, so we didn't go to swim lessons on Sunday. She is feeling better now, but still has no voice.

Chuck asked me to meet them at Red Robin tomorrow night for dinner and fun with the kids. We will do swim lessons on Saturday and Sunday to make up for missing last week.

I just bought Zoey two Disney nightgowns for her birthday. One Cinderella and one Doc McStuffins. I'm going to get her Lambie tomorrow. I'm going to get her the Doc dress up for Christmas. I have no idea yet what to get Jesse for his birthday and Christmas. It seems like a long time before Christmas but I know it will be here before I know it. I do have most of the presents for my friends. I just need to finish with Zoey and start with Jesse and I will be done.

Hi Ladies!

Got back from NJ on Sunday night. We had lots of fun, saw 4 concerts! We saw Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes in Connecticut on 8/16 and on Long Beach Island on the 19th. Then we saw two free concerts by the bay. The first was Shorty Long and the Jersey Horns, the second was Jimmy and the Parrots. We both had sore throats, head colds and backaches, but we kept on plugging along. Went to the beach a couple of times as well.

I'm feeling very out of sorts, kind of frustrated and depressed. I guess it's the end of summer syndrome?

Hope everyone is doing well! :wave2:

My goodness snappyd, you did so many fun things. Sorry to hear that you both had colds. That takes a lot out of you I know.

I have only a couple more weeks at most before I have to close up the pool. I hate that. Then it's back to weight lifting and cardio. GRUMBLE!! My second million, I'm going to have an indoor pool so I can swim all year. They say the second million is easier, so I'm going to start with that. :rotfl:

Saturday my little princess will be 3 years old. I wrapped her two nightgowns and a little Doc purse with a tiny Lambie inside. I also got her a couple of books.

I sent Karen a few ideas of what I would like to get Jesse. Maybe she can give me some better ideas. It's funny, but I like to get all my Christmas shopping done by the end of summer. The only Christmas present that I have to wait to buy is for my hairdresser. She loves the Bath and Body peppermint bubble bath and lotion. They don't get that in until after Thanksgiving.

I had a very busy weekend. Thursday Chuck called to ask what I was doing on Friday. I told him I was going to IHOP with Joan. He asked if I wanted more company. He and Karen had taken Friday off. We had such a wonderful time. We laughed and talked and stayed there for over an hour, just chatting away.

Then they left and Joan and I did some shopping. We came back to her house to go swimming, but it was just too chilly, cloudy and windy. I decided to just come home around 3. I was surprised at how tired I was. I just vegged the rest of the night.

Saturday was Princess Zoey's 3rd birthday. I got up early and did my grocery shopping and then went over to Chuck's to go with Karen and Zoey to get her birthday pictures taken at the mall. She looked so adorable in her new outfit. Karen brought along her Cinderella outfit too. I wanted to post those pictures, but for some reason, I can't download anything. I'll have to get Chuck to come over and see what's wrong.

Zoey did very well with the picture taking. After that she was rewarded with a Build A Bear. She chose a pink Disney princess bear. While she was helping to stuff it, I went over to find a princess dress for the bear. I also found a small beanie sized pink flamingo for Karen. I also found (cough, cough) a rainbow bear for me. I found little outfits for them both too. Zoey named her bear Pink Teddy Bear. :rotfl: We got the pictures and let Zoey ride the merry go round and then we headed to Chik Fil A for lunch. Chuck and Jesse met us there.

We all had a nice lunch and then went back to Chuck's. Zoey needed a nap and so did Karen. I voted in favor of that. I fell asleep on the couch and Chuck took a short nap also. Jesse could not sleep and woke me up to go and play with him. I told him I needed a nap and he had to go downstairs and play quietly.

Yeah that lasted all of 20 minutes and he came up to wake me up again to play. I just couldn't get up and told him to go back downstairs and I would come down when I rested a bit more.

You know what happened. About 10 minutes later he came upstairs again. I gave up and went downstairs to play with him. We played for a few minutes, then he wanted to watch a movie and snuggle with him.

So we started to watch Monsters, Inc for the 4,693 time. A little while later Zoey woke up and then it was a fight to see who would sit on Grandmom's lap to watch the movie. So I had Jesse on my left leg and Zoey on my right, trying to read my Kindle. I loved every minute of it.

When Chuck and Karen got up, Zoey opened her presents. Jesse was a little jealous but he handled it as well as an almost 6 year old could.

Then we went to Red Robin for dinner. We let them know that it was Zoey's birthday. All Zoey wanted to know was when do I get my ice cream? She did eat her dinner and then they all came around to sing happy birthday to her.

Well, if you've ever gone to Red Robin and it's someone's birthday, you know they sing LOUD. Zoey didn't know quite what to make of it, but she was happy to get her ice cream.

It was a fun filled day and I got home around 8 and watched the inside of my eyeballs for an hour while pretending to watch a movie.

I forgot to tell you about our trip to Story book Land. It was fun as usual, but one thing made my little heart so happy. They were both fighting over who Grandmom was going to ride with. We took turns and all was well. But I think I will remember that day FOREVER :lovestruc:lovestruc.

ahhhh......sounds wonderful! I know you know how blessed you are to have grandchildren and to also be such an important part of their lives, but WOW, that makes me smile!

Glad you checked in. We all get so busy. I'm not on the Disboards as much as I used to. I'm back to work with my little 19.5 hours per week job. Always very busy at the beginning of the school year. AND - this getting up early makes everyone act like they have jet-lag (teenagers and staff!)

Love reading about everyone’s fun summer adventures! All too soon fall will be here - my fave season! :goodvibes

AR, altho I can’t visit your thread as much as before, I still enjoy reading about your adventures and all the fun you have with your sweet grands . Your WDW trip plans sound exciting! We’ve always enjoyed having something on the back burner to look forward too. Nothing more exciting than planning a family Disney trip!! ::MinnieMo ::MickeyMo

And great you are ahead of the game and about done C’mas shopping…OMG, I haven’t even thought about it yet…lol. :santa:

Zoey is 3, say it isn’t so , golly what fun it's been to follow her progression! Can’t wait to see photos! Know the Red Robin was fun and Build a Bear always warms my heart :lovestruc. It reminds me of the many trips I’ve had with my grands there and we’ve even taken DH to build a Wolf w/the heart ceremony and all!! Too cute :teeth:! Glad you got one for yourself also – afterall, we must keep our spirts young at heart! :flower3:

Thanks again ladies for all the prayers, they have really helped . My dear Mom is getting stronger each day with PT/OT, probably stronger physically than before she broke leg, but still lil confused mentally. Unfortunately, she’s down to 99 lbs, so they started her on some new meds that help her appetite. We go to the ortho Thurs to see if she’s strong enough to bear wgt. on that leg….fingers crossed! Sadly we have the cancer battle in the back of our minds, doc says we’ll cross that bridge when she fully recovers. Meanwhile our families enjoy all time we can manage with her, as we lean on our faith, one day at at time ^j^. Sunday is her 84th BD so we've planned a little party at the rehab center, I've bgt her a new outfit, ordered a corsage, and made an appt for them to do her hair ~ she's really looking forward too. :littleangel:

We d manage to have a lil fun over the week-end. DD and family fr NC surprised us and came up. So we had a fun filled week-end w/all 3 DD’s and families celebrating DH’s 77th :bday:. Saturday nite we all met at a local Mexican Restaurant which was fun - after din grands enjoyed fried ice cream :). Sunday, DD’s hosted w/a BD feast, then boating, jet sking, tubing, hot tubing, etc. It was a lot of fun allowing us to catch up, the grands had a ball, and to briefly get our mind off my Mom’s illness.

I miss seeing our grands as often as they have started grade, middle, high school and 2 in college :worship:. But we've had our first college soccer game, soon cross country and other activites are around the corner. Can't wait for fall and Pumpkin Farm! :)

Thx again for all the prayers, ya'll are the best! :grouphug:

4nana, so happy to hear your Mom is doing well, and Happy Birthday to your DH!

AR, I love the relationship you have with your family, I think it's wonderful. :)

Not much going on here, DH is back to work after all his summer vacation days and I'm kind of bored. We did get tickets to see Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes again in November. Trying to get a last minute trip together for October but the resort and airline prices are not cooperating.

We are going to a wedding the first week of October, have most of my outfit together, just need shoes.

I'll be sad to see another summer fly by so quickly, but I'll be happy when the weather gets a little cooler and dryer.

:grouphug: :grouphug:
