Angelrose's Journey

OK snappyd. Tomorrow I will take some pictures of my dolls.

Tonight at weigh in, I finally got over the 50 lb hurtle. I have now lost 51 lbs. I am very happy. Now I just have to keep it up.

I think next week I will try this new Hungry Girl recipe of pumpkin pie without a crust. Just some crumbled low fat cinnamon graham crackers on top. It sounds good. I just have to borrow Karen's deep dish pie plate.

56 days to Disney World!

OK here are some pictures of my Cabbage Patch dolls dressed up for Christmas

This picture is of the Christmas House my DH made for me many years ago.

Each little window has a Hallmark ornament in it with a Christmas card as the backdrop. It's covered in red velvet with white glitter to make the snow on the roof. It had Christmas lights in each window and around the outside.

Angelrose, LOVE the house your sweet DH made you and the Cabbage Patch Doll collection :thumbsup2! My.... you do have some energy to do all that decorating ;).....I hope to get started tomorrow and throughout the week. We've had 6 family BD's the first part of Dec, and I don't get moviated till after they're all celebrated properly. :goodvibes

Thank you 4nana. I want to hear all about your cruise!

Our BD cruise was fabulous :lovestruc - 10 days of spoiling in Caribbean at St Johns, St Kitts, St Thomas, St Lucia, Barbados & Antigua. We arranged for some fun excursions on the islands....learned much about their culture, visited many historical sites, also went jet boating, played w.baby monkeys, drank from fresh coconuts, visited plantation and picked bananas off trees, hiked in rain forest, lunched on Creole food at out guide's parents home, swam in the beautiful ocean blue, and got wet at Devil's Bridge :). My fave was a massage on the St Kitts ocean beach front - DH's was Sea Trekking to pet the beautiful friendly fish...LOL! :goodvibes

:santa: Anxiously awaiting those sweet grands C'mas photos!!

Thank you 4nana. I start decorating on November 2. It does take me a few weeks to do. Just a couple of hours every morning is all I can manage. But I do enjoy it. Every room is decorated including the kitchen and the bathrooms, my bedroom and computer room. The big living room is where the Cabbage Patch dolls are and the Christmas house. Also there are two glass tables by the window that have lots of decorations on them. The small living room is where I have my tree and ornament stand that has all my lighted ornaments on it. I have lots of decorations underneath the tree and ornament stand.

Ron used to say that he was afraid if he stood in one spot long enough I would decorate him. :rotfl: I probably would have.

I put away my Christmas decorations around the middle of January and get out the Valentine decorations. Not nearly as many though. After that I take out the St. Patrick's day decorations. After that comes the Easter decorations. I have lots of them too. Last comes the 4th of July decorations. Then nothing until Halloween comes around again.

I may sound manic, but it helps me get through the year. Always something to look forward too.

4nana that cruise sounds wonderful!!! glad you enjoyed it!

Angel, love the pics, can't wait to see more! yesterday was my birthday and I had a great day shopping and having lunch with my sister!

love, love, love the house your husband made!

And your Cabbage Patch kids are so cute. How fun to decorate for all the holidays.

We have our trees up. This morning, with the cats no where near it, my 5 foot Disney tree toppled over! I think the ornaments were too heavy for the flimsy tree. DH came out to see what the crash was. We cleaned up all the pieces, and I'll spend some time this afternoon gluing some together. Looks like some hands and heads were knocked off - those were the cute Jim Shore ones, darn it!

Oh Julie, I'm so sorry that happened. I love Jim Shore too.

snappyd, I'm glad you had fun shopping and having lunch with your sister.

OK I can post more pictures.

Here's our Christmas card LOL

49 days and counting until our vacation. I'm getting very excited about it. Of course I've been excited about it since we came back from Disney two years ago. LOL

I've been enjoying all my decorations and the lights. I just miss having Ron enjoy them too. Sometimes he seems so far away from me. But then I look at Jesse and I see so much of Ron in him. I still miss Ron so much. He is missing so much. And his grandkids are missing having a great time playing with him and loving him. They will never know him and that is so sad.

He should be here to enjoy them with me. Sorry for being a bit down tonight. I'll try to do better.

Angelrose I've read most of this thread and cannot tell you how strong of a woman you are know that your husband is watching over you and god bless your son and DIL and what about your two litlles grandchildrens .
love those xmas family pictures :thumbsup2

Thank you 4 mickey. I know he is watching over me, but sometimes, it's just not enough. I guess it's the time of year that gets to me.

You know, my son and DIL and Jesse and Zoey are what get me through the bad times. I just get the "I wishes" around this time. It will three whole years in June. Just doesn't seem possible that it's been that long. How he would love going to Disney with the babies. Oh well, he's there in spirit, I know.

I don't know about being strong. I just know that I have to get through each day. I know he would want me to be happy, but sometimes it's just not possible.

Oh, Mary - how hard this must be for you! I, too, am very fortunate to have a special husband and would miss him very much if he were gone. But you're right - you have an amazing family! Those grands are so special (and so cute too!).

Hang in there.

Thanks Julie. I'm trying to stay busy and positive. I made a batch of cinnamon almonds this morning. Boy did that make the house smell good. They tasted pretty good too.

I didn't mean to sound so down last night. I just need to vent sometimes. I don't want to vent to my son or DIL. They have enough keeping up with those two babies. So I come here to vent to my friends. This is my only outlet for that. I can't tell you all how much I appreciate your support. It gets me through a lot.

I have read your thread many times and just wanted to tell you how absolutely adorable your grandchildren are. Your granddaughter resembles you so much! I know this is a difficult time of year for those of us that have lost loved ones. I miss my parents desperately this time of year. Since my dad died 2 years ago I have had a really hard time with Christmas particularly because my parents loved it so much.

Try to remember that although their grandpa isn't here physically, he lives on through your memories and they will learn to know him through you. God bless and happy holidays.

Thank you Tigger2252. How nice of you to post that for me.

Thank you for the compliment of my grandchildren. It's funny you think Zoey looks like me. Another friend mentioned that too, but I think she looks exactly like her mom. LOL I guess we'll have to see when she grows up a little more.

When they get a bit older, I will tell them about Ron. I am sure he is looking out for them.

I think we all miss our loved ones that have passed more at this time of year. It's just something we have to live with. But it is so hard.

God bless you too and Merry Christmas to you too.

Hugs to you AngelRose!  Just keep thinking about that Disney trip, you will have such an awesome time with those beautiful grandchildren!

Thanks snappyd. It's been raining all day here and the same for tomorrow. Not helping my mood at all. I did get to spend a couple of hours with the grandkids this evening. They were both pretty good. Jesse was being stubborn about going to bed. He would not lay down so I could tuck him in and kiss him goodnight. I gave him three chances. After that I told him that was his choice, turned out his light and closed his door. He was crying, but he has to learn. I was just coming downstairs when Chuck and Karen came home. Chuck told me Jesse has been doing that to them too. And they did just what I did. LOL It's tough to be a parent or grandparent.

We all talked about our plans for the week. I'm going to babysit for a couple of hours on Thursday before I go to WW meeting.

Friday I think I will do most of my grocery shopping for the week.

Saturday they will bring the kids over around 10 and bring lunch. We will let the kids play in the big living room with the door closed while Chuck gets the play kitchen out to their car. After they leave, I will run out to get the rotisserie chicken for our Christmas dinner.

Christmas I will go over around 3pm to give them a chance to let the kids open their presents and take a nap. Karen is making her stuffing, green bean salad and au gratin potatoes and buying a small dessert from BJ's. That sounds perfect to me. Not too much cooking for Karen so she can enjoy the day too.

We all decided that we didn't really need anything for the sales on the 26th so we're all staying home.

Then we can all enjoy the rest of the week. I babysit again on January 2. No daycare that day for some reason.

Keeping busy helps to keep my mind off things. After the New Year, I guess I will be getting some things ready for our trip. I usually take down the tree around the second week in January. After I get all that put away it will be almost time for our trip.

I do like to plan ahead. LOL

I give you so much credit for keeping up with your traditions, decorating, etc.
After my parents passed, since we don't have kids, I kind of stopped enjoying the holidays. I haven't put up a tree in years. We just found out on Wednesday that my DH's "stepfather" passed away. All of our parents are gone now, he was the last one.

I decided next year that will stop. DH is retiring June 1st and next year we will have plenty of time to decorate. We will probably give up the apartment in NY and live full time in NJ - that will make our lives so much easier!

I am going to take out my snow villages next year, put up a big tree, etc. and start enjoying Christmas again.

I'm so glad to hear that you will start enjoying the holidays again. Having a tree with all the lights on does keep the spirits up. I know after I put away the Christmas decorations, the living room seems so dark. LOL I do get carried away with the Christmas decorations.

Ron enjoyed our decorations so I couldn't stop doing it. It would seem disrespectful. I'm sure Ron can see them from Heaven. And knowing that, does help with my feelings.

Oh my I had a great Christmas. The kids came over here for Christmas Eve lunch. We had a great time with the kids playing around. They are so much fun to watch when they are getting along. I gave them each an ornament to hang on the tree and they left around 3.

Before the kids came over for lunch, I made a quick trip to the grocery store to pick up the rotisserie chicken and a box of Christmas cookies and some petite fours. I love those things! Not recommended by weight watchers for sure. As I check out I said hello to my friend there. She told me she saw my family the night before. I have shown her so many pictures of them that she new them! Karen said they had checked out when my friend said "Mary"! "You're Mary's family." Then she said hello to the kids and told them how she loved the PJ Christmas card.

The kids ate well and then Zoey wanted to sit on my lap and get her cookie. I asked if she wanted the blue snowman or the red candy cane cookie. She picked out the snowman and so did Jesse. Of course they both had blue lips. I picked out the candy cane cookie and took a bite. Zoey wanted it so I gave her mine. So she had a cookie in each hand. So I got another candy cane cookie and ZOey wanted that one too. LOL I guess Grandmom's cookie was better. But I ate that one and she finished her snowman and took another bite of the candy cane one and she was done.

After they left, I watched some Christmas movies.

Christmas day I got there around 3 and the kids were both so excited to see me. Jesse just had to show me all his gifts. They both gave me a big hug. Then we let Jesse open his gifts and Zoey opened a couple but she was more interested in playing with the paper. Jesse loved my gift the best of all. It was something that Chuck had picked out. It was a chain saw with all the sounds and lights. I gave him the Hallmark husky Jingle that has an interactive book. When you say his name he barks or whines. It's really sweet.

I gave Zoey some clothes and a soft doll which she ignored. She likes Jesse toys much better.

We had our dinner and then we took a nice long walk around the neighborhood to see all the lights. That was a lot of fun.

They put the kids to bed and then we had brownies and peppermint ice cream. After that I went home around 8.

Monday Chuck called to apologize. ??? They had forgotten to give me my gift. :rotfl: I laughed and told them I had forgotten too. Christmas is all about the kids and their presents. We were all going out to buy me a new tv and get a new warmer coat for me. But Jesse was throwing up, so it would just be Chuck, Zoey and me.

We went to Best Buy and I got a 32" Panasonic. It was more than I thought I would spend, but it got the best reviews. Then we went to Kohls and I found a nice warm coat and some gloves. Zoey was being so good too. She wanted her juice and she drank it all.

We had to stop in Target for some things that Karen wanted. Zoey was in the cart and reached for her sippy cup. I told her it was all gone, but she got it and sure enough it was all gone. So I put it back in the back pack.

Then she reached for it again and I said no and gave her "the Look". She laughed and then she reached for it again. I said no and gave her the Look again. Same thing. Now I'll tell you, I had the hardest time not to laugh along with her. She thought it was a game. She would look me right in the eye and go for that cup. Finally Chuck came over and said NO. And that was the end of that.

Chuck kept the tv at his place and will bring it over on Friday. He won't hook it up until I get changed over to Comcast triple play. I hate to lose my Dish, but it is getting just too expensive. It's around $100 a month now. I can save at least $60 by switching every month. Plus I will get a new dvr. Mine are so old and I'm having lots of trouble with them. Plus the remotes hardly work anymore.

So that was my Christmas. I won't see them again until January 2nd when I babysit for a few hours while Karen goes to the dentist for a crown. That will be fun.

Today I had lunch with my cousin. But before that we went to Kohls again. She wanted some scarves. I got a scarf that matches my new coat, a pair of gloves, two long sleeved t's and one turtle neck, and a fur (faux mink) vest. I also got three pair of socks. I really cannot spend another dime until I go away.

We went to see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. This was the American version. It was good, but I think I like the Swedish version better.

We had lunch at Red Robin. I will not be going to my WW meeting this week. I have been VERY bad this whole week. I need a week to get back to my normal eating. I know I've gained at least a pound. Not what I want.

Tomorrow I am having lunch out again with my friend from WW. LOL That will be interesting.
