Angel Alert?

Hi,
We are leaving for Disney in less than 2 weeks with our DD who will be 3 in June. I was in Walmart today and noticed something called an "Angel Alert" it is a small monitor that the parent and the child wear. If the child goes too far from the parent (I'm not sure what the radius is) the parents alarm will go off. There is also a panic button that will sound the child alarm. I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this. It sounds like something I may invest in for our trip. I would love to hear some testimonials :D Thanks in advance!!

Most reviews I've read where these have been tried at theme parks have said that they turned out to be impractical. The reason was the ambient noise. The alarm apparently is not loud enough to be heard over the general hum to be found in a theme park. (The ones I've heard are about as loud as the avg. cell phone ringer.)

When I was little my mother had something like that because I have ALWAYS been very curious. A couple major problems were if I stepped on the other side of a wall the pager would not work. Also it was so faint it was very hard to find or narrow down where it was coming from. We tested them to see what my limits were going to be and things and if they would work for my brother. It generally worked better if I had the parents pager so when I lost sight of mommy I could hit the YIKES button and it would beep hers and then she would know to look out for me. There are some really odd limits. Try it out at home if you wanna try it at Disney.

At Walmart they are $34.95. I may try one out. We leave for WDW May 7th. I'll let everyone know how it worked:D

$24.95 through Amazon.

They work ok. The problem we encountered is that we have two little ones and the AA must work on the same frequency. As long as one of the boys were within range, the alert would not go off. Therefore, we had to choose which child to use it on.

Where it on a lanyard. It will be plenty loud.

Angel Alerts didn't work out as anticipated. The crowds are too large and the alarm was going off entirely too frequently.

Also, our child kept messing with it.

I used something similar about 4-5 years ago. I loved it. In an open area it allowed my son to go about 35 feet from me and in crowds it was much closed something like 10 feet. When it did go off people would stop and turn. That made it much easier to find my son. Also if someone tried to remove the transmitter from him it would alarm. When he was in the stroller we would turn the receiver off or if he was in the bathroom with me or Dad we would turn it off. If this works the same way I would get it.
