I have the Samsung Galaxy Avant which I think is an updated version of the Galaxy Light; the Avant is a T-Mobile exclusive I think.

An iPhone user here for six plus years so I'm pretty biased.

If you do decide on an iPhone 6, just be sure you get AT LEAST 64 GB's of storage. Even 32 GB leaves little room for pictures AND a bunch of videos if you're really into taking them like I am. I hated having to delete, I don't get how someone can survive with the 16 GB model. After the iOS updates, you'd be lucky if you were left with just a handful of room for apps and a few pics....forget video shot in 1080p.

There is no 32 gb iPhone 6.

I have a 32gb iPhone 4. I still have 21 FB free. But I wouldn't want a 16gb. Cutting it too close. So i would go with 64 gb. I just can't decide whether to buy a used 5s for about $350 or buy a 6.

Right, my bad. Bottom line, don't ever buy the 16 GB "six".

Get the 6 simply because of screen size, you'll hold someone's 5 or lower and wonder how you ever survived on such a small screen. Plus the A8 chip makes it worth it in the end in terms of speed. The 6 could easily last 3-4 years if kept in good shape due to its performance. It's a no brainer, imo.

The biggest bonus to an iPhone is the fact that Apple is very strict on what apps make it to the App Store, so you are less likely to download something that will crash your phone or give you a virus.

Check out the Moto G and Moto X if you decide to stick with Android. I just got DD14 an unlocked Moto G LTE for Christmas - they are running $200 on Amazon, and are very well reviewed. While there is only 8GB of storage on the phone itself, you can expand it with a microSD Card. And the phone plays well with the microSD card, allowing you to actually put apps on it (not all phones allow that). There is a new version of the non-LTE Moto G that was just released that has more GB options, and a nicer display, but I wanted the LTE version for DD. The X is a step up power-wise from the G, which can be sluggish if you are a really hardcore user. (I wouldn't do heavy gaming on the G, but it should work fine for things like CandyCrush and the few other lightweight games DD likes to play).

I have a Nexus 4 and love it. The Nexus 6 was also just released, but they've decided to put it at a higher price point that means I won't be buying it. But my 4 is still going strong, and Google has said it will get the Android L update, so I'm good for awhile.

Thanks for the info. My 4 is about four years old and still working pretty well so I would definitely keep the 6 for a long time. Straight talk only sells 16gb so I mAy wait a year and buy a used one or switch to boost mobile.

That may be the official line, but I've got 2 androids that are 2 months old and an iPhone that is almost 2 years old, and the androids crash daily running the same apps as the iPhone.

And I have had both an Android phone and tablet for several years now, and don't have any problems with apps crashing but I have had problems with DDs Apple iPad and iPod. That's why the "official line", based on data from many users, is important - because one individual's anecdotal experience really isn't enough to base a decision on. And reading the details of the official line is also important - phones running older versions of Android (before version 4) do not match up and do have more problems. Many of the cheap Android phones you can get are still running Android 2.x, not 4+ - do not buy one of those!

I think the biggest advantage for the iPhone is the fact that it plays nice with a Mac computer. It integrates w/iTunes (as it was designed to do). I get text messages pop up on my MacBook and all now which I thought was pretty cool. Also considering the fact that I have been using a Mac of some sort for several years now w/iTunes. I have all my playlists and stuff set up like I want them, and they sync perfectly w/my phone.

I tried an Android phone, but it just wouldn't work flawlessly for me w/iTunes and all. As far as phones go, Android is fine IF you aren't married to Apple products.

I have a Galaxy S3 and it works fine. No issues with apps or phone calls.

I have multiple iPads and iPods in the family and have used an iPhone in the past. Again, never really had any issues with apps or phone calls either.

It does seem that Apple is playing catch up in a lot of ways to Samsung. Seems like a lot of things Apple recently came out with were already available on Samsung products.

However... I am fed up with Apple and the control they want over everything. I don't like iTunes (needlessly complicates processes) and I don't like that you can't use SD cards. We don't really use the iPods anymore (they just sit on the speaker stands) and will be replacing the iPads when necessary with non-apple tablets.

iPhones are very easy to use and has more apps available to them. Also as someone else said, they are less prone to viruses. I have been using them since inception and can't imagine moving to another product. I know several people that have had iphones and then switched Android and went back to iphones as soon as they could.

My iPhone 6 is ordered so I can't speak to the fragility of that but my husband has his and has dropped it a few times and it is fine. I currently have a 5s and it has been dropped countless times on pavement and has been completely fine and I don't have a super strong case on it either.

My Iphone 6 has been fine as well, but I always have my iphones n a case( I sell them back when the new ones come out).

We have BB, iPhone5 & Galaxy. I like the iPhone the best although all do what I need. It comes down to cost. Iphone's initial cost is more plus monthly plans are more. I dont feel the extra costs are worth it.

It is all personal preference....just like PP said "Coke vs Pepsi." I happen to prefer apple. My brother and SIL prefer android.

I started with a blackberry, had it for a year and got sick of it. I then moved to android, yet again had it for a year and wanted to throw it against the wall. The minute Verizon got the iPhone I switched and have been a happy camper ever since.

My brother picks up my iPhone or iPad mini and can't figure them out (and probably wants to throw them against the wall ).
