Android notifications

If there a way to stop my android phone from receiving notifications from the new app?

It buzzes and pings all night long and is starting to drive me crazy!

I think I worked it out...

Open up the app, on my samsung galaxy s2 I press the soft key button on the bottom left (not the return key, or the home button, the other option ) which brings up a menu.

I then press settings and then make sure the "Push Notifications" box is unchecked

That looks to have done the trick for me...

I have an HTC EVO, and I can't figure out how to turn the notifications off. Anyone know how?

I have the Razr Maxx and I'd like my phone to notify me of PM and replies to my threads. Anyone know how to set that up?
I do have the 'push notifications' checked.
