I'm so sad to hear Agassi is going to retire after the US Open this year. He has always been one of my favorite players, I've watched him since he started. He has done a lot for charities and is just a nice guy. Tennis will not be the same, I will miss him.

i'm not a big tennis fan, but do know how big he was in the sport.

enjoy his last event!-(U.S. Open?)- :grouphug:

He'll actually have more than 1 event before retirement. He's playing 2 more majors - Wimbledon, which starts Monday (and I can't wait!) and the US Open, which starts end of July (can't wait for that either). Plus I think I read that he's playing 4 or 5 smaller tournaments in between those two in order to prep for the US Open, since he has only played 1 match in the last few months. He didn't play the French Open this year, which made me sad.

I read he will be playing a couple hard court tourn. between wimbledon and open. I was sad he didn't play French open. I'm glad James Blake is doing well, he's fun to watch. I think Agassi would have won US Open last year if he had been playing anyone other than Federer. I love Federer but unless your name is Nadal he's unbeatable.

Can't wait til Monday!!!

Have you taken the look at the draw for Wimbledon?

Agassi is seeded 25....so he'll have to play Nadal in the third round. I love both, but have to say that I hope Agassi wins that match.

And one of my favorites - Tim Henman - will have to play Federer in round 2! Ugh!

I was sad to hear this too. I played tournament tennis in Florida growing up and went to the Lipton tennis tournament every year. I met all the players of the time and got all their autographs. I had the BIGGEST crush on Andre Agassi, I'll never forget the first time seeing him play, my grandma had a really nice camera with zoom lens and took the best pictures of him and we blew them up and hung them on our wall. The next year we took the poster blow up and had him autograph it. A few years later it was just my sister and I, we had taken the train down to the tournament, I think I was like 16. We had box seats and we thrilled to watch him play on center court. After the match, he took off his shirt, rinsed it, wrung it out and threw it into the stands and I was the lucky captor of the shirt. I still have it, 13 years later!!! And yes, it's been washed since then... lol.

 Hey! Are you starting the thread or am I? ;) I am so excited!!!! :cool1: TIVO is all set! :thumbsup2

Melissa, next year we need to get together and go to the NASDAQ together. I go many days each year! :)

Oops, forgot to say, I believe Andre has had a great career. He has done great things for the sport and even greater things for his community! He is truly a sports world hero! :thumbsup2

He's from Vegas and so am I. You're right, he has done a lot for the community. He even started a private school for underpriviledged kids. It is a nice school and it gives kids chances they probably would never have otherwise.

LOL - I was going to wait until Monday to start it, but you'll probably beat me to it because I don't usually DIS at work!

I love this time of year because there are 3 majors so close together.

I keep saying I'm going to go to the Legg Mason classic every year, but nobody will go with me! Any takers? :)
