Thoughts?

I didn't watch. Too political, PC and hypocritical.

I have never understood why actors aren’t allowed to use their voices to support one thing or another.

I know, I know, they should just shut up and act; that’s their job. Well, here you are giving an opinion on something that I’ll bet dollars to doughnuts has nothing to do with your job, so...

At least Three Billboards didn't win best picture. That's really all I wanted. Oh, and Jordan Peele winning writing? Icing on the cake.

I didn't like the Shape of Water but I wasn't surprised it won. All of the winners in the acting categories were spectacular. I thought Sally Hawkins could have won best actress but glad it went to Frances Mc Dormand. I was surprised Baby Driver didn't win one of the sound mixing awards. I love that Jordan Peele won. I was reluctant to watch Get Out bc it was billed as a horror film but it was terrific.

Inquiring minds wanna know....but the short answer is Hollywood hypocrisy.

Why does Roman Polanski get standing ovations?

Why was Harvey Weinstein beloved until he wasn't?

Why are all the political jabs one sided?

The overnight ratings look dismal.

Let's see....we've got the Golden Globes, the Grsmmys, the NFL, the Olympics and now the Oscars....I wonder what they all have in common?

Has anyone seen The Florida Project? I'd never heard of it before watching the show last night, but now I'm in intrigued.

Because having Ben Affleck & Leonardo DiCaprio preach to me about global warming then get on 2 private jets to fly to next hypocritical speech is just plain insulting. Practice what you preach, take a bus or just shut the ...heck up !!!'

I did and thought it was pretty good. The main characters were all well acted and written. It's set in a low budget/welfare hotel right outside Disney World.

I was happy Allison Janey won. I like her

I'm honestly not so sure she should legitimately win all of the awards and get all of the accolades she does. I am convinced she is in fact a chameleon.

I'm sure I am unfamiliar with most of her roles. As for the ones I do know, she does an incredible job completely disappearing altogether into each role.

Why would you even consider my "rational" besides assuming the obvious, which is that I had never heard the Oldman accusations? Fortunately that says more about you than it does about me.

Really? You never heard of the Oldman accusations? It made the headlines. Just as much as Kobe's.

But this goes back to my point. It appears you quickly went on the attack not knowing there's a bigger picture. What does that say about you? That's the rational I'm referencing. If you would have actually read into what was happening and understood the position some are taking against Hollywood, you would see that last night there were several nominees and winners that have a checkered past. But again... you decided to pick out just one and stop there. Interesting

Personally never heard anything about Gary Oldman until this thread. I was aware of Kobe's situation because it was in the headlines at the time and involved law enforcement.

One wonders how "interesting" that makes me? Gotta wonder who is the arbiter who decides the rationale for deeming something a rational worthy of being "interesting"? What's the criteria?

I totally forgot about the Kobe rape accusation.

The charges were dismissed in 2004. There was a civil suit that was settled out of court. I guess this becomes a question of whom you believe. Did the justice system work in this case and Kobe was innocent? Was he guilty anyway? Does the fact that he was just accused mean he's now considered to be an asssaulter in the eyes of the MeToo movement?

I also don't recall hearing about the Gary Oldman accusation either.
