and we're back. [Walt, Wizards, and....Woolungasaurus?]

Gotta get up early early again tomorrow to make the continued reservations.

Then gotta make sure Robert is up.

Then gotta get us all up to take Robert to the dentist. Why can't he take himself? Because his dentist has showed a strong interest in turning around his past experiences, and prescribed valium. He took one about an hour ago, and he has to take one tomorrow morning before the appointment. Loooooopy.

All Old Key West, all the time. :rotfl:

I think, maybe, we'll not travel at this time in the future, leaving Yuletime for DLR, if we actually want to stay anywhere other than the OKW resort.

Got the one bedroom for the second part of our trip.

Well, Yuletime at DLR is wonderful so that isn't a great loss is it.

Poor Robert, I hope all goes well at the dentist.

Ain't that the truth!

Things went well. Because of the valium I did drive him, and then I drove him up to work (all 3.5 hours of it, LOL), so E and I were hanging out. They kept coming out to give me updates...it was so funny. "He's doing really well, everything's fine"...that sort of thing.

This is going to be an expensive series of visits, though. :headache: And today marked the first medical-billed expense of the new insurance year, so we spent half the flex plan with that, then another third of it at the dentist's...jinkies.

Since I woke up so early for DVC and never went back to sleep, and then we went up to Edmonds to buy a new bit of luggage at the Rick Steves travel store, then toodled our way down to Seattle to pick up Robert after work...I'm just exhausted. Alas, E had a big nap (he woke when I did, silly dude, and then the sun was warm on his face in the car on the way home) so who knows HOW late he'll be up. :scared:

I am glad the valium worked. I am one of those people that has an irrational fear of dentists. I saw a dentist as a kid that was a bit sadistic, ever since then I just can't face them unless I have no choice. Dentists are so expensive. I am amazed that even with insurance we pay the national debt.

It sounds like you are in for the long haul tonight. Have you seen the video of Mickey in Toontown in Disneyland? I think it is so cool.

Do you have a link for the video? I know my kids would love to see it (okay, so would I). :earsgirl:

Every year we crunch the numbers about dental insurance. We pay a lot in premiums, and then it covers so very little. I think once Robert's teeth are all fixed and cleaned (he has to have that awful cleaning over FOUR visits, but that's in the future b/c it's going to be scads of money) and he's on a good maintenance schedule, we might very well drop it. It barely makes sense when you have work done, let alone if it's just 2 visits per person per year, and you already know what they charge.

Our dental insurance is actually really cheap because Scotty's work is really good about it. He works for a company from Australia and they are huge benefits. Yay for good benefits, but the dentist office itself is outrageous, our oldest daughter broke a tooth when she was 11 years old and they did a temporary repair and it lasted like 5 years which isn't bad. So last Thanksgiving she had to have a root canal and it cost $800. And that was just our portion. I hate to think how much it would be without our insurance.

Yowza! I just got a 1 bedroom savannah view, Jambo house (the hotel, not the villa building, so we're closer to restaurants), Animal Kingdom Lodge booking to end our trip. Made it for longer than needed, as we haven't fully figured out when the end will be. Cannot believe it!

What's weird is...even though we're here at my brother's and I have no reason to be up early (or so I thought), I woke up around 5:45. Tried to stay asleep, didn't work, got up, moved to the other guest bedroom so I didn't disturb E, then about an hour later he got up and found me. Then suddenly I realized the date, whoops, and called 1 hour and 21 minutes later than I would have wanted to if I'd remembered...but it all worked out! It's funny, though, that some part of my being remembered I was supposed to be up (and on the phone) at 6, though.

Now can someone explain to me why I'm in San Diego with so little urge to visit Disneyland??????? I mean, I yearn to go, but not...right now. It's really weird.

Maybe because you are in the mind set for Disneyworld? I am going one month from now and I am less excited than I was six months ago. So, who knows? I hope you get your Disneyland groove back before you leave San Diego.

Maybe you're just overloaded in the planning mind set for WDW. Or DLR seems like just another job to do or something right now??

Hopefully by the end of your trip to San Diego you'll have made it to DLR at least once - because you want to go. :goodvibes

Hi! Thanks for answering, you two.

Today my brother brought up Legoland, because they just now realized how into Legos DS is (um, the last two monetary presents they sent were spent almost entirely on Legos and I told them about it!), and it looks like it could be fun.

We're also looking at scheduling issues b/c of sis in law's hectic schedule. Carlsbad is much closer to here than Anaheim is.

And they have a Clutch Powers "4D" show...E loves Clutch Powers. :) (sort of a Lego quasi Indiana Jones character)

All E has mentioned is the Zoo, even though he's only been there once, at 1.5 years, and has NO recollection of it at all.

Legoland sounds like it would be a lot of fun. Alas my kids are all teenagers. I love the San Diego zoo, I haven't been since I was a teenager, oy I can only imagine how much it has changed since then.

If you don't get to Disneyland this trip you can still have fun.

Piping in here, kept putting off catching up on this thread. Now I'm home with a sickie so I have time.

Yay for Legoland! You'll love it. I haven't been in several years, though. But I very much enjoyed it the times we went. It's a more European-style theme park. Lots of interactive things to do together. E is at the perfect age for it!!

I am glad you're having success getting some DVC resorts you want. That's why I am so nervous to try a split stay! I have only stayed at Kidani Village (my home resort), we loved it so much we are going back again this November for another 5 nights. I liked Jambo very much, but we really need the larger 1 bedroom- that sleeper chair is for our DS, since DD 13 no longer wants to share a bed with her brother! There are so many fun things to do at AKV. We loved talking with the cast members from Africa. I think you may in the end be smart to have bought BLT instead of AKV. AKV will be much easier to get at 7 months if you call right away, than BLT ever will be.

I didn't know you could only book 7 days at a time! Ack! We booked the AKV part about 9 months out, and then booked our Vero stay exactly at 7 months. We're really excited to stay at Vero and try it out. This is only our second WDW DVC stay. I find keeping track of our points (what's been borrowed out of what use year) to be the hardest part so far. I suppose if I wasn't perpetually borrowing, it would be easier!

We're very excited about the AKV part. Even though we wanted it for the big family part, ultimately having the nice big OKW villa for everyone will be so much better. And as my cousin said, OKW is near DTD and Epcot, which is nice (even though they have small kids, they've been going to WDW since they were in their late teens, and love ALL parts of WDW, they aren't MK-only people)...and I reminded myself that AKV is really only close to AK. Which isn't bad, but it gives OKW a slight advantage. :)

And having the 1 bd at OKW after the big family time will be nice, because we won't have to move far. It'll all work out well.

Now I've started working on what days are for the parks and what days are for pools. Except for the day that the family leaves, I think I want all "transition" days to not be WDW park days. I'm really not sure we want to upgrade to APs on this trip, so we have to keep it to 10 WDW park days (oh, the humanity, to ONLY spend 10 days in the parks, LOL), and we REALLY want to spend time at the pools, looking at resorts, and just relaxing.

OK I gotta go deal with E. He finished another, more minor, "school" book today, and as we went up to make his award (they have award pages at the end of the books) he started a nasty tantrum and is currently in time out. We've been going going going, taking big long walks, going to parks, and swimming, every day since we got here, and I think he's super-tired (despite thinking he wanted to go to the zoo today), so maybe I can turn this timeout into a (very rare) nap...maybe. Knock wood.

Roberto leaves Eire tomorrow (well, really, tonight as it gets towards pacific time's bedtime) then will arrive here in SD on Sunday, so that's pretty cool.

By the way, thanks for stopping in, Silly Little Pixie! Of course I adore my two most regular responders, but it's always nice to hear another voice as well. Maybe once the planning REALLY starts things will get more exciting for us all. :goodvibes
