and we're back. [Walt, Wizards, and....Woolungasaurus?]

My mom tells me I am too old to let it grow. That may be why it isn't getting cut.

Ha! Silly mom...doesn't she know by now? :rotfl:

The hard part about the friend's apparent infidelities was that I only knew her one year longer than her husband. He and I were friends, too. That's a big part of what I was struggling with back in '08.

Michele, it was so crazy. All I needed to do was TALK with my friends. I needed to get it out, to work it out, to figure out where everything had gone wrong. And from this friend I got "well at least you know that having babies hurts" (I knew that, and how on earth did she know with her VERY early epidurals, ya know?) and "I am worried you're becoming an angry person". Our friendship was started with *venting*. Venting so you wouldn't explode. Talking about our fellow friends so we didn't keep the anger in. etc. YOu can see what I was so surprised at her reaction!

I had other friends do similar things. Not let me talk. Not let me figure it all out. It's actually how I got totally into cyberfriends, b/c they were there for me when the IRL people were not.

And then when a cyber-turned-real-life friend dropped me, I realized what the huge weirdness was, of these friends leaving my life...they were so *worried* about me, but they left me alone. Wouldn't that have been a horrific mistake if I actually had been as depressed as they thought I was? Wouldn't it have been the exact opposite of what they really should have done?

The logic was just not there.

And yet...if the friendships could somehow be reformed...not the same, never the same...but...

Bleah.

I need a vacation! Hey....:rotfl:

Yes, and you would think I am old enough to be more grown up too.:rolleyes1

Sometimes people are afraid to help or just don't know quite know how to help so the back off. I don't understand it, but I have seen it first hand.

And yes Molly you do need this vacation. You have earned.

Thanks. :)

I don't really buy into the age/hair length stuff to begin with. If you like your hair longer, keep it!

This'll mess with you...I have an old friend (8th anniversary was yesterday, wedding and reception as the Giants played and lost, their wedding colors were orange and black AND they had a TV at their country club reception site to watch the game!) who has all sorts of rules. Can't wear nail polish if your nails are short. Can't chew gum while wearing a dress or skirt. And...can't have long hair if you are short.

Gah! Her rules messed with me for a long time! Still do, actually. :3dglasses

Wow I am sure they were happy with tonights game.

I would go nuts with those rules. It's like the white after Labor day. I am a roll on my own type of person. My closest friends kind of roll their eyes but I have always been this way.

Wow - I only missed a day and you guys had this great conversation going!

I am a short hair bob girl. I currently have my hair just about jaw length. It is easy, fun and usually looks good. My hair is naturally curly/wavy so sometimes I just put product in it and scrunch it up. :thumbsup2 I have grown it out and cut it soooo many times in my life. DH never gives me grief about it (which is smart of him). So, I say cut it if you want! It will grow back.

Michelle, I do think girls can be way worse than boys - especially if they are the type with high hormone levels. Although I think my 14 yr old gets a "period" too. He always seems to get super out of sorts when he is behind in Math and when he has HFCS. He has been really careful about HFCS, not so careful about Math! :confused3 He can be really dedicated to things that don't make sense to me!

Molly, you will probably spend less money than you have saved and budgeted unless you decide to go super crazy - which I don't sense is your style at all. If getting the car will make it easier on you, I say get the car! I'm like Michelle, I don't like to be stranded w/out a car. Besides I also like to explore round about where I'm staying and being reliant on public transport makes me a little crazy.

And may I say - GO GIANTS!! We are super Giants Fans at our house. DH was born and raised in SF and I was raised even more north of there.

I have - finally - after almost 24 yrs of marriage learned how to read my hubby and how to have a conversation with him. It only took about 22 years. :headache: We do have friends that have been married a long time and friends that have gotten divorced, some after long years of marriage. It is sad to see something that you thought was permanent disappear. And when you throw crazy antics into the mix it makes it harder. I've also seen people stay together who should really get a divorce. Just makes me glad we decided to do this for the long haul and divorce is not in our vocabulary - we've made it through some really tough things because of that. :thumbsup2

"My hair is naturally curly/wavy so sometimes I just put product in it and scrunch it up."

That's what I almost always do when it's shorter. My hair doesn't do much of anything I try to get it to do, so I just try to find things it likes to do, LOL.

Of course, as always happens, whenever I start threatening my hair, it starts behaving.

So today the Y is having a Halloween party, and E woke up wanting to put on his costume (Costco-purchased Bumblebee from Transformers) and GO. Then tomorrow we go up to Robert's office for more tot'ing around the cubicles. Saturday is off, LOL, then Sunday the real madness begins. I've learned, this week, from the Community Board, that we are EVIL b/c we both take E out TOTing without leaving someone behind to answer the door AND we go to a different neighborhood. The horror, the horror....

Someday we'll own a house, and assuming E's still our only, one of us will stay behind to pass out candy, and we won't care if a busload comes up from kids in other neighborhoods, I'll still be happy to do it. Harumph.

Have been busy composing my reply email to my friend. She said that it meant a lot to her that I wrote...seems like an opening.

I hope that the Y was fun today. How nice of Amazon to do that. We hand out candy every year. We live in a neighborhood where a lot of people bring their kids.

That sounds like your friend would like to try, so that is good.

We LOVE that amazon does this. They certainly never did it when we were in customer service! And since the building he's in is pretty locked down, this is the ONE time a year (if they continue it, that is, otherwise it's the ONE TIME ONLY) that non-employee adults can wander their offices. Forbidden fruit.

I know that corporate culture is not always fun, but wowie do I miss other parts of it! In my 20s I really thought that healthcare was my forte, but being self-employeed was NOT, so I really enjoyed my corporate jobs. And every time I visit amazon I miss it miss it miss it!

Just don't know where I'd put the kidlet! :) Perhaps he could come with me and sit at my desk? :rotfl:

Anyway, he totally scored with candy. Alas, most of the small candy pieces don't have ingredients on them, and I know very well that not all PB cups and not all kitkats are made equally. So almost everything has to be swapped out. And I know that this isn't really fair to those who bought the candy, and I feel bad. Perhaps I'll send the swapped-for candy back to amazon when hubby gets back from his upcoming trip.

But the point is that he scored with the candy. Buncha techie Seattlites seeing Bumblebee from Transformers (and a pretty good costume compared to the other purchased B'bee costumes we saw! guess no one else shops at Costco), they just throw the candy at him. :upsidedow

Sunday is going to be...interesting...the kid will have candy for months. :scared:

My kids are bummed because I told them that at the ages of 14-17 that they are just too old to trick or treat. I mean come on, especially the 17 year old, she is counting down until she is 18. If you are in such a hurry to grow up Missy then you better start acting like it.

I hope that E enjoyed yesterday and I am sure that he will enjoy tomorrow. We live in one of those neighborhoods where people bring their kids because it is a pretty good neighborhood. We have custom built homes across the street from our tract home so that side of the street always has the best candy. We have had neighbors that gave away little stuffed animals and all sorts of good things.

Aw, stuffed animals! That's adorable! One of the employees had some lovely toys in her candy basket. DS took one, a wooden giraffe, that toy where you press the bottom and the animal collapses, then un-press it and it goes back up? Simple and traditional, and he likes it. :)

I'm totally with you on the teens not tot'ing. I think I got away with it for a short time b/c I went with my younger brother, but eventually you just feel goofy doing it...

We just watched How To Train Your Dragon. Entirely charming movie!

One line made us cry...when he says he looked into the dragon's eyes, and he saw that the dragon was as afraid as he was... Totally reminded me of when I finally realized that something was "taking over" Eamon, and that it was causing his behavior... And of course we came up with "dragon" as the description for his corn syrup behavior. Robert felt sad for the boy...but I was tearing up b/c I'm the one that was there that day, looking into Eamon's eyes, seeing the fear and bewilderment through his raging face. Anyway, I could totally understand Hiccup's statement there...

So the last time I ate HFCS, I got a headache. Last night I snuck some unsafe candy, and almost lost my hearing entirely. I always have tinnitus, but it got SO BAD that I was almost in tears. Scary scary. Took upwards of 2 hours for me to finally finally finally put two and two together! Gol dang...it's keepin' me honest, though!

Absolutely fainting at my countdown calendar....

I like giving out playdough but Costco didn't have any this year. I was sad about it. I feel more responsible handing it out instead of candy.

Your body is just protecting you, and trying to keep you from screwing up all that weightloss.

One month!! Oh my goodness!!

I should mention that by the morning my hearing was better. But it felt like I was under water for hours!

Very.

We were out most of the day today, and at around 1 E shouted "my tooth just came through!" The adult tooth that replaces the primary one lost when he was 6 months old had been under the gum for probably a month now, just sitting there...and boom, today it came through just like that. :) I'm so happy to see a tooth there...it's been a LONG time since he's had a tooth in that spot. :lovestruc

DH's work does the same kind of trick or treating thing. I took DS 6 to DH's work on Friday after he was done with school and we took him around the offices doing some trick or treating. Nathan also got to wear his costume to school - which he was soooo excited about. Then our Church had a Halloween party with "Trunk or Treat" where people pass out candy to the kids with their cars/trunks decorated. We already have a boatload of candy in our house and already the candy wrangling has begun. "Mom, can I have a piece of candy now??? NO, you haven't even had breakfast yet!"

It will now be candy for after breakfast, lunch and dinner and an after school snack for weeks! :scared1: Tooo much candy.

The biggest problem for me is that I don't eat chocolate - anything caffeine related really gives me a huge headache so I avoid it. BUT, Halloween can certainly make me falter in my no chocolate resolution. I will be strong, I will be strong!

I'm with Michelle on the teenager's trick or treating, too. Only for us the cut off is 12 unless you are escorting a younger sibling. Jeff (14) doesn't even want to go with the 2 younger boys this year. Of course, watching the World Series could have something to do with that!

Molly, I miss the days of teeth other than wisdom teeth coming in. And how cute they look with the missing teeth.

Teeth teeth teeth. :) Now I see that the upper tooth that was just poking through with a side edge (that makes no sense) is now a whole big top middle tooth starting to come through. He'll have teeth, he'll have teeth!

This is how he has looked for a while now (this is just after the top one came out, and before anything else started poking through).

And while I'm messing around in photobucket, here is one of the series of pictures I took to get a 1st grade picture. :)

And here are 3 of the autograph bags that I bought. The books are inside, and have matching fabric. The straps are adjustable, and you can see that she puffy-painted the name on the strap (E's is shown, but she did it for each). The one I got the other cousin is Ariel and is very cute IMO.

OH, and I booked our free night stay at an airport hotel before our flight out, b/c we had it and b/c it's better to be 5 minutes away from the airport than 25-40 minutes away from the airport.

Robert's prepping for a very early morning flight tomorrow off in the wild blue yonder, sigh. A place I have always wanted to visit but probably won't b/c I'm too nervous about it...and I'm nervous about his trip, too.

Made another purchase for the trip, this time earplanes, earplugs, toothpastes (OK that's for more than just the trip but I had to get up to free shipping and we need it anyway!), snacky bars, that sort of thing. Will the purchases never end?

I love the toothless smile.:lovestruc So very cute.

I wanted to share our Woody with you. This is my great nephew Jason.

And those bags are so cute and what a great idea.

Aw, what a cute Sheriff Woody!

I kept calling kids dressed like that just "Woody", and E finally said "please call them Sheriff Woody"... Well OK then! :)
