and we're back. [Walt, Wizards, and....Woolungasaurus?]

Thanks Molly. I hope the drs can help your MIL. The healthcare for women is kind of sketchy. Sad but true.

Two is a good number!!

OK, seriously? Water guy calls today, says "I'm in the area, do you need more water?" Hubby says sure, that would be great, tells him to come by. Calls me to let me know (I was just getting home from Very First Zumba class) at 11:55am.

He JUST delivered it. It's 2:52pm.

AUGH.

And oh boy do I know that healthcare for women is sketchy! If you're heavy, every single thing is blamed on that, and since it's the first thing measured when you get there, it colors the entire appointment. If you're NOT heavy, they hardly know what to do with you. You're either dismissed as "hysterical" (a rude, demeaning, nasty word based on a certain root word to begin with), or you're diagnosed with everything and given 18 medications, half of which duplicate functions or won't work for you anyway.

When MIL was diagnosed with diabetes, the "type" was figured out thusly, but in Korean, not English. "your blood sugar is too high, but you're not fat, so you're type one, take insulin." She refuses insulin, and hangs out at 140 and up to around 180 blood sugar. IF her pancreas were truly not working, aka type 1, that wouldn't happen. "i.e. e.g." (as a microbiology teacher I had said incessantly), it ain't type 1. But she's been given NO dietary advice, because it's type 1. When I've watched with my very own eyes as her blood sugar spiked after eating certain things. Since she was in the hospital (and being given insulin instead of metformin), I got fairly fast info on what her blood sugar reading was shortly after that food....surrre it's type 1...you just keep on telling yourselves that.... (actually the hospital knew it was type 2, but her doctor REFUSES to rediagnose her, and they won't send her to an endo)

And with hubby's diagnosis, the ER guy said that it presented just like type 1...but the family doc guy, literally (and in English) said "you're fat, so it's type 2, you don't need testing and you don't need an endocrinologist". (as I've said, if we choose a doctor, steer clear, as they are bound to be horrid)

I'm almost certain that she didn't know she had a recent heart attack b/c it presented in a "female" way, and she was likely looking out for the "male" way of the elephant on the chest feeling. I do think those (the "male" type of symptoms) are the symptoms she had with the heart attacks before I met her, but she didn't report a feeling like that to us, so I think it was a sneaky one.

All that said, we aren't interested in *forcing* care on her, that's very much not what we're all about, but we want her to have appropriate care full of information, and no sloppy diagnosis. We want her to KNOW what's going on so she can make the proper decisions for what she wants. Thankfully that's what she wants too, and she's finally realized that we're the ones who will help her with that. Robert has her POA now, ever since the shock wore off after her husband died, and she realized that we were sane while her oldest son and her daughter were very very much NOT. She wants sane people making decisions if she can't, not insane people like what happened with the FIL, as hubby and I were shouted down repeatedly....

Anyway, we just want her to have knowledge. Not kneejerk medicine, not fear-based, but with appropriate tests and good diagnostic procedures.

Telling her that she has Type 1 because she isn't fat is just insane. I believe that Type 2 is called adult onset not fat person onset. Ah the joys of medical care for women. I won't even tell you what I want to call them.

I am glad that you are there to take care of MIL. Chances are that she took care of FIL and never took care of herself when they were younger.

And your water guy would totally tick me off.

OK, here we are...less than 2 months from the trip! YIKES!

Last night I suddenly started freaking out...all inside my head, quietly, but freaking out all the same! It was thanks to a WDW commercial, the one where they are showing the parents saying "we can do that" about the 25% off rates... And the kids are seeing Dumbo etc and are SO excited, and I wondered if E was that excited, after all it's....HOW MANY DAYS AWAY??????? What??????? (and this shouldn't have been a surprise thanks to my ticker, not to mention the big countdown chain right outside the bedroom doors)

Realized I have park days, I have food each day...but imagined us just walking into a park (once we found the park) and just standing there...uhhhhhhhh what do we do now? Where we'd be one of those families that just stands and looks at park maps, and doesn't find the WDW rides b/c they are inside of buildings and we don't realize it, get in two lines of 2 hours each, get lunch AT noon, dehydrate, become miserable, etc etc etc....

Now of course, that stuff won't happen. Not to a big extent, at least. But wow did it throw me into a tailspin!

Since I'm focusing so much on Eamon's schooling (and now I have to teach myself how to play the recorder, so that I can teach him how to play), working out, and trying to get multiple surveys a day on sunshine rewards, the time left for planning is much diminished, and I've frittered away lots of other time (hmm, wonder what I frittered it away on...) already....aughhhhhhh.

So I bought some Rescue Remedy (a homeopathic-like flower essence that calms me right the heck down) and felt better, but now thinking about it I'm getting nervous again....should probably go look at next week's learning plan for E anyway!

Remember how....I wanted to make buttons for the days that E and R wanted to have matchymatchy shirts? But I don't know anyone with a button maker?

Look at this site!

OK they have "campaign" sized buttons and one size bigger, and then they have a smaller size, and then the smallest is for "bands"...so those would be like when I had Duran Duran and Billy Idol buttons? How hilarious would THAT be? Everyone else with the big Celebrate buttons etc, and I have these little buttons? Would be unique!

I just now did the math...going from what our current tickets are worth up to what 10 day tickets cost, going from current to DVC AP prices, and also seeing what 3 day tickets would cost...bwa ha ha, not even funny! If we even want to have 12 days available for the parks, it's better to upgrade to the DVC AP than just buy extra 2 day tickets.

Yes yes yes, I know...but you're having resort days! Oh yes, I'm sure we will. And I'm sure that halfway through those much asked for resort days...there will be at least one person saying "OK that's enough sitting around on my bum, let's go see a parade!" or something like that. ;)

Just planning for all contingencies you know....

Molly is it snowing outside your house right now? Because I sense a Disney snowball fest coming on! :woohoo:

Of course you'll want to go see a parade or fireworks or some sort of show. Those are relaxing things to do on resort days. Spend some down time - sleeping in, eating a leisurely breakfast and lunch, maybe swimming, go to the park (whichever one you want) and see a parade or show or whatever. Boom! You've just had a great day! (My enabling side is coming out!) :thumbsup2

Anyone ever told you two that you're really good at enabling? :rotfl:

Not-trip-related...right now the hubster is moving all of his computer stuff into our smallish, but walk-in, closet. He's had his stuff out all over the place, despite my asking him to consolidate and find space, because, well, big long emotional mental stuff, he feels he doesn't "deserve" to have his stuff in a proper spot, etc etc...long-time feelings of not fitting in etc etc.

But he's finally doing it! He's finally feeling good enough that he's moving MY stuff around (and when I say "my" I halfway mean my stuff, and halfway mean stuff for all of us, like sewing supplies etc) and finding PROPER space for his stuff! It's a day of joy, seriously, it's been a long time coming. I'm so happy he's finally feeling the urge to "move in", so to speak. And now I have more floor space! Someday we'll both be moved in enough to actually have friends over! Maybe have a house-warming party! It's been 2 years 3 months since we moved in, but still. :)

We've both lived like nomads for SO long...we've moved around from place to place both together and before we met, so it's hard to really settle. And there's always been this feeling of "as soon as we settle in, we'll have to move", but we've been living like this for too long, and if we do suddenly have a house gifted to us just as we move in, well, who cares? We'll just go settle at the house! :upsidedow

Wow, he's really doing it right! Not just shoving everything into a corner of the closet! Yay! Seriously, this is big. :goodvibes

Gotta make a list of the things we still need for our trip...I simply must suck it up and just get shorts to fit my rear, even though it will be scary and awful to do. I'm *hoping* I can fit into some pants and capris already owned...if I really start doing zumba and my pilates DVD I'm quite sure I can, so I guess the *hope* is that I do those things! I have hit a plateau with the elliptical, I guess. E needs a few more pairs of jeans, another pair of sneaker-type shoes, maybe a few more tees and a layering long sleeved shirt or two more. Hubby doesn't really need much more than shoes, though we both need another few sets of non-cotton socks!

OK I didn't mean to make my list here! :rotfl: Should get an autograph book/bag for another cousin who will visit for one day of the trip; it would be bad to not have anything for her when I bought them for E and the other cousins! Luckily I already know that she likes princesses. :) And I want a better hand strap for my camera. What else, what else....

Oh yeah, asking that while amidst the enablers! Next I'll end up with another tattoo or something! (my big peer-pressured purchase...the friend that pressured me owned a leather jacket thanks to me, when she was not in the market for one, so I guess the tat was her way of getting me back):3dglasses

Ooh what kind of tattoo shall Molly get.:scratchin

No no no! :rotfl:

Well, we'll figure out tomorrow or so if this was a mistake, but we just watched Men in Black with E. It was pretty obvious we hadn't watched it in awhile except for on TV, because we were surprised by the naughty language! And there were some scenes (mainly involving Donofrio) where E and I were covering his eyes, LOL (I wasn't doing a good enough job so he put his own hands under mine) as Robert fast-forwarded it (we only have it on VHS!). But he also really liked a lot of it.

We figured that we should show him some of the movies featured at Universal, and that was the first. ET is also on the list.

The newly reorganized closet is lovely! We even put our suitcases in there instead of in the "linen" closet, which left more room for, you know, linen, in the linen closet. OK, not linen, but sheets and towels. :) Without me saying anything, Robert said how glad he was to have finally moved in! :upsidedow

OK, back to scouring menus for one last figuring out if the dining plan would work for ANY of our trip... (with DVC you don't have to have a package, and since we have several separate reservations we could add it to just a portion of the total stay)

Awww come on just a little one.

I used to forward through what I thought was bad parts when my kids were little. I can't remember how old my kids were before they saw all of Lion King.

How fun about the closet. I hate that our linen closet is used for junk that I would rather throw away. And I would rather have my towels and sheets in mine.

I love pouring over menus and planning all of that. It looks like I am going to be in planning process soon for my without the family trip. Woohoo!!

Wooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know. I am going to go with Bella Ella from the boards. I am supposed to go with my bff but her plant is closing, and she isn't sure what is going to happen.

Totally forgot to say that I'm happy for you and BE, and hope that your friend is able to go as well! Because if she can go, that means that things are OK, and with a plant closing, one hopes that she will end up OK!

Went to the craft store yesterday and found these $1 notebook things. Bought 3, and last night the three of us each covered our own with scrapbook stuff, stickers, whatever we wanted. Figured that I would keep notes in it, DS could use it to amuse himself when bored (at meals or whatever) by drawing, or if he's writing more by then he could write things, etc etc. Who knows what hubby would use his for, but figured he should have one. :) It was fun! Sittin' around with my guys, doing little scrappy crafts. They both thanked me when they'd made theirs. :3dglasses

OK, gotta start the learning work with DS before we both get too sidetracked...having grumpy people trying to do the work isn't fun!

Thank you.

When the kids were younger they would write stories. Whether it was with pictures or "chunking" out their words. They had great fun. Kody now writes on the school paper and writes stories all the time. She writes "fan fiction" and posts it online and gets great feedback. It pays off in the long run, and it is fun.

I wish the downstairs neighbors didn't smoke.

I wish I wasn't so sore from jogging for 10/60 minutes on the treadmill yesterday. And then doing Zumba this morning.

I wish I wasn't going through this...whatever it is...if any of you have had bodywork done, you might recognize it...just a body shifting, emotions shifting, weird oddity thing... Exhausting, somewhat troubling...but it's helping us hit my deductible with chiro visits LOL.

I am GLAD that my adorable mary jane Trekker shoes just arrived from Land's End. There was a sale on them the other day, mentioned on the Budget Board, so I got 'em for 6.29 shipped! Awesome.

I am confused why I am considering getting a pedicure before the trip. I don't get those. I've done it once or twice and hated it. But that's mainly b/c I let them do that horrid cuticle thing...I won't do that again! Cuticles are there for a reason, don't trim them! Ack!

But if I DO get a pedicure somewhere...what color should I get?

I am glad I didn't buy new athletic shoes a few weeks ago. Why? Because now they are $30 off at Road Runner Sports. Excellent.

I am finding better deals on rental cars! But...should I try priceline???

I am undecided about taking Magical Express then renting closer to the resorts (costs more per day, but fewer days) OR just renting the car at the airport and forgetting about ME for this trip.

I am needing more sleep! Thankfully, tomorrow is E's late day at the Y and I can sleep in. Monday and Wednesday are his 10am swim classes, and Tues and Thurs are 9am Zumba...Tues I didn't go to Zumba, but E woke up anyway and made me get up too. But then on Saturday it's back to not sleeping in, with a 10am appt at the chiro, a workout, then E's gymnastics class.

BUT this weekend we're also celebrating my birthday (41!), so that will be most excellent! I am insisting on dinner instead of presents (though R insisted on presents anyway...says if I don't like them I can send them back, no hurt feelings, but he's sure I'll like whatever "they" are), so it'll likely be a Chinese place up in Seattle, yummo.

Tonight I book a free rewards hotel stay for the night before our flight...our flight leaves before 7am, so we figure we'll make our way to the hotel the day before, save ourselves some travel time in the morning.

Robert has let me and his friends (via facebook) know that he's going to be working his booty off to start losing weight. I mean, he'd been losing, but he knew that he could do better, even while he was rejecting that he could do better. It's been a long time coming, and I'm so glad I never pushed him. He'll do much better with his own inner force driving him. He's working out right now. :)

Hopefully soon we'll both be able to go clothes "shopping" in our closets! :cheer2:

Oh Molly, my mood has been running like yours has right now. I think I managed to pull myself out of the doldrums a little bit by downloading Pollyanna on my Nook. If ever there was an attitude adjustment that book is one for me.

How much of your mood has to do with your birthday?

I hope you feel better after your Chiro appointment.

And good for Robert.

I see your ticker.....
