And thus ends 2010

I was there Dec.7-10 and thought I too had food poisoning...there must be some sort of bug....I had such terrible stomach pains I thought I was going to be admitted to the hospital....but I have seen this same issue brought up on other threads and also on some threads on Trip Advisor so it most defineately must be a bug.

Interesting! My mom and dad and husband all got it. Their stomach's hurt and they were violently ill (both ways) and extremely weak.

I cannot believe how many other posters have stated what a terrible year 2010 was for them.
In March my dad became ill....lung cancer....started chemo and radiation.
thought we had made it through the woods.
July 2nd found out he was in stage 4 and to be generous given 6 months.
since all was pretty well at that point I went north for a 10 day vacation..I left on July 3rd. Called home on July 6th to find that the roof on a section of his apt. had fallen in...(my house has a mother-in-law apt, where he lived) I had 4 news stations in front of my home along with the St. Petersburg Times, all this going on while I was 1400 miles away.....The Red Cross put my dad up in a hotel.
My neighbor was a saint and gathered all my cats and secured them, all 8 of them and took the next day off to handle the restoration team and to pack up alot of my dad's belongings.
They were able to seal up the door so my dad could move back into his bedroom and bath and he used my kitchen.....
I have had one headache after another with the people rebuilding the living room/kitchen area 300 sq feet and it is still not completed!
I had to dismantle the deck and fell hurting my hip, which to this day still gives me a problem!
Then my great home owners insurance informed me that they will not renew my policy come May of 2011.
Then I had to break down and have carpal tunnel surgery...it had gotten so bad in my left hand that I could not even feel when my hair was wet! 10 weeks later and I still am not back to work!
Two days before Thanksgiving my father fell, after having the FD come here 3 times to get him up, they finally had to take him to the hospital...after a battery of tests it was found that the cancer had spread to his brain. He was then transfered to a HOSPICE facility where he died last week.
Maybe nobody wanted to hear all of this but honestly it has been a very long and hard year for me....all this time NO ONE has come to help me or him other than HOSPICE. I am a single woman trying to keep up a house and yard, my pets, work and my dad.
I can only hope that 2011 is at least a less tramatic year for many of us...I wouldn't give up one minute of the time I had with him, although at times I really complained about it, I now am regretting some of the things I had said.

Sorry for the pity party... I know there are so many people that have nothing.

When were you at AllStar Music? We stayed there and three of us got a really, really bad case of food poisoning or stomach bug. Luckily, I was not one of them. :) I don't think it was the food court because we only ate there once, on our last morning. We were there from October 1 - the 8th.

Yes, it was the AllStar Music. Maybe they don't keep the public areas as clean as they should? I don't know, but I was (and still am to a degree) very ill. My symptoms started within 1/2 hour after eating in the food court. I spent Friday in bed (in my hotel room) unable to function. I managed to scrape myself together to get on a plane yesterday morning. Not fun!

I don't know what it was about 2010. My sympathies to those that had a terrible year. We are still reeling from my nephew's unexpected death; he was only 28. 2 months later my cat died in my arms, less than 20 hours after the vet swore she'd hang in for a few more weeks. I had scary results on a mammogram, which proved benign. It was one after the other after the other.

I have to laugh because in November, I went to Las Vegas specifically to see Barry Manilow and guess what? He cancelled the concerts because he was ill! (I saw Terry Fator instead. Lots of fun, but not Barry!) And now, for my Disney vacation, I end up ill.

I feel like wrapping my world in bubble wrap until the end of the year.

Here's hoping all of you with such a tough year be given a wonderful 2011. There are some incredibly brave people here-wishing you good fortune and positive outlooks.

 to those of you that had a bad year.

This actually was a pretty good year for me as compared to the past 3 years.

I'm not buying a new car.

17 years ago I bought one and ended up with stage 3 colon cancer.

Nov 2009 I bought a new SUV and in May I suffer a stroke followed by open heart surgery and find out I'm diabetic to boot.

Something about me and new vehicles.

What a year!!!!!!

While 2010 sucked far less than 2009, I will be glad to usher in 2011. I am ready for a change and hope that is what 2011 brings. I hope to find a job, graduate from college, and be a better person all around.

2010 was a year of challenges but we overcame them. For the first time in a decade. we lost no family members so all in all 2010 has been good.

If I could erase 2010 from my life, I would do it in a heartbeat. Things have to get better in 2011 because they certainly can't get worse.

Never say that! I hope that next year is much better for you though.

I hope that it's better for everyone! 2009 was worse for us but 2010 wasn't great. I think that 2011 will be a good year.

I'm so sorry for some of the losses posters here have suffered. Sort of puts my own complaints about 2010 into perspective. We've been knocked around a bit in the last six months and will definitely enjoy seeing the back of 2010; but Christmas is next week, and we still have our jobs, our home, and our family.
Here's hoping for a better 2011 for everyone who has suffered or struggled this year.
