And Then There are the Weirdos...

Me too! I have the Lady, Tramp, & Old Yeller bone density reports. Has anyone seen one with Bolt? I'm working on getting all 101 dalmatians.;)

Once I'm through ROFR and have my title, I was going to try to get a set of all the Princesses bone density and body composition scans, but someone told me they heard that at the next owner's meeting Disney would limit people who bought on resale to non-human characters only. I'm hoping that we get grandfathered in! I really want to frame those suckers for my exercise room! :goodvibes

It was so cold 2 years ago Dec. I wore gloves through the finger print turn style and I passed right through - maybe they are also using hi-tech x-ray also!

They should meet the woman i knew who thought the government uses vaccinations as a way of microchipping people, and your microchip is scanned anytime you walk by a soda machine.....

Wait! What? That isn't true?????? But I read it on the INTERNET!!!!

Seriously? On what grounds? "Security, there's some chatty conspiracy theorists roaming the property!"?

People have a right to be strange. There was no physical threat. What would you expect security to do?

To the OP, I would have put my hands over the guys mouth and said "Shhhhh! They're listening to us right now."

That is what everyone says, until it is too late. By giving security a heads up if nothing is wrong, no foul. If they are extremely weird and security is just aware and observant, possibly a larger problem prevented.

Everyone always says after the fact, gosh never would have expected that from him or her, or them. When questioned by OP's husband, he got mad and stormed away.

Their behavior to a total stranger is not normal.

* normally~ i try not to "work" outside. however, there is a
critical point to be made. also the recent tragic event has
given me a heavy heart. ( i never thought 911 could be
worst ). :sad2: & :furious: & more :sad1:

just because we have a professional title has little value
in establishing a relationship where we can help others.
understanding this, is why we reach out and include our
feelings with our words. so here a few of mine.

since prevention is the only effective tx. for self-harm
actions ( suicide , manipulation, or simple attention
seeking) , is why i think there is a need for education in our
primary schools, colleges & in our communities support programs.

i do not believe this post. instead i am thinking of something else.
but if some strangers "saw" me as someone in an obvious delusional
scheme, then i be looking @ myself. i also wonder about any person
calling sick people names. and i can't help but wonder why a
person posted this on the dis-dvc chat board. :scratchin
my best guess would be there's more to the encounter than
what was shared.

wow, if this site shows anything, is the (ongoing) lack of knowledge-
of a lack of knowledge- over basic human dynamics. every
person is operating/functioning, under "2" major systems but
they are not separated during life. most accepts that during
life times, one will experience medical problems. why this
is not accepted for mental health is simple denial- & when it
is applies, is delusional. you will have "colds" and you will feel emotional
stress. they can be resolved or progress to worsening
conditions. no one thinks nothing wrong starting "treatments/meds"
esp. to prevent worsening physical problems, but the majority will
ignore mental-health conditions until ...legal/or losing
physical self care. so who can become crazy or mentally
impair ? we all have the potential.

i have stated this observation before but it is worth repeating.
if a person has a major change in their behavior-think
medical causes. to encourage health-the quicker one start
treatment, the better the outcomes.

oh, bone d. tests have medical applications. but there are
some legal implications too. especially for disney. i have
read some posts here seeking legal advice on accidents
that they are trying to project blame. one can have
physical problems, where the person "fracture" caused
the falls.

the point sammie made has great value for the potential
of prevention. i would have selected a different approach
but the bottom line is worth noting---if more people
were observing others for dangerous s/s ( harm to
self or others), then those in need will get help, instead
of making the "news".

why care? these events damage us all. it effects one of our
basic needs, for safety & the terrible losses. these families
and this community will need support and our prayers
for a very , very long time.

what is sad for us @ my workplace, are the things we can
do to prevent are not hard to learn..& as sammie noted ,
by observing & reporting. these "things" can be taught!
why not?

for sammie, actually, both behaviors are not normal.

I disagree. True these people aren't posing any harm "right now". But their behavior might warrant attention. Not confrontation. Security needs to know if people are acting strange if in any case just to keep tabs on potential problems. That's all.

I respectfully disagree. If you notice, the OP repeatedly writes "DH asks...", which infers that DH was actively involved in the conversation. If the other (strange) party didn't like the OP's husbands tone or response and frustratingly walked away, I simply don't see what you would report to security. There was no threats of any kind. This was a conversation. Again, we all have the right to be categorically strange. Welcome to America. I would say that if the OP had encountered or heard any veiled threats, or if they felt endangered or uneasy, then sure, it can't hurt; but the OP relayed this story as being a somewhat comical encounter. I went to dinner recently and sat at the bar with my wife while waiting for a table. The couple next to us quickly started explaining to us that the presidential election was fixed, and that there is a world governing body that controls our US government, and that Romney and Obama were working together, and something about a long term plan to turn us all into servants of the government. When I respectfully dismissed the notions being presented, the guy told me I "had not idea what I was talking about", and scoffed at my opinion. Should I call the police because they were delusional? I guess based on this precedent, you'd say yes?
People are allowed to have differing opinions. And if somebody is obviously a fringe-thinker, to put it mildly, it's not our right to snuff out their ability to think that way by subjugating them to a private security detail.

That is what everyone says, until it is too late. By giving security a heads up if nothing is wrong, no foul. If they are extremely weird and security is just aware and observant, possibly a larger problem prevented.

Until what is too late? And again, what exactly are you reporting to security? That these people think Disney is spying on them? What's the crime? Again, I reiterate that OP detailed a conversation, not a case of harassment. There's nothing in this recounting that says "we tried to get away but we couldn't", but there is plenty of anecdotal evidence that suggests that the two parties were freely engaged in conversation. If you freely engage in conversation with somebody and don't agree with their somewhat laughable opinions, that is hardly grounds to bring law enforcement into the picture. Again, no threats of any kind were issued, no veiled references to forthcoming harm or danger; this was just somebody who believed adamantly about something that we all agree is strange.

I respect yours and others opinions, and obviously we all have to do what we feel comfortable with. I am just stating that the OP relays this is a conversation, not a case of harassment. I do also believe that sometimes we can unnecessarily bring law enforcement into situations where their authority is not best served, while simultaneously distracting them from more important responsibilities.

Just my two cents, people can react (or overreact) however they are most comfortable.

Honestly the thought to report them to security never even crossed our mind. We just saw them as eccentric. They're free to believe whatever they want. We wouldn't report them any more than we would report our friends who are now convinced after seeing a TV show that we really didn't land on the moon. We didn't feel threatened by them. They probably believed they were doing us a favor by informing us of the "truth". DH engaged in the conversation to find out why this man really believed what he did. All in all, they just gave us a good chuckle. If they were playing us...well done. :thumbsup2

I thought that was just a waiter cleaning my table, little did I realize he was an evidence collector and took my fingerprints and dna off that glass! ;)

Yep they needed to be banned from Disney for life .They did harass you.

Seriously, why try and twist, this is into something it wasn't. :confused3

If someone comes up to me and starts going of on Disney and finger scans, there is no harm in saying something to security as a heads up. If nothing happens than no foul to anyone. If they had asked for directions, or even asked if we were members and did we enjoy it or not would be different.

But based on what the OP shared this man is someone with a grudge against Disney and their policies. If others feel different so be it. We all base our opinions on situations based on our own personal experiences, professions, background and training.

This conversation between two people that know each other is not odd, approaching a total stranger and for the soul purpose of venting about Disney and bone scans and then getting mad when questioned is odd behavior.

As to what security does or does not do that is their decision.

Actually once before while at Disney my family noticed a woman acting odd and we reported it to security and they found she was on medication and had not taken it and had become disoriented and confused and security helped her find her way safely back to where she belonged and they got her meds. Her family had been looking for her, as she had wondered off without telling them.

I was on a 2 night cruise a couple of years ago, and there was this old guy pulling an oxygen tank, with a younger woman caregiver. He would insert himself into the entertainment, etc. I then noticed that the tank was actually an inflatable prop. The young woman turned out to be his long suffering wife, who went along with his shtick to keep him happy. Maybe this couple at WDW were also amusing themselves?

i used to think they were throwing away my trash to be nice, but now know they are collecting my DNA..hopefully not to access my bank account.
