Quite pleased with myself today, I've finally set up my standing order to an account I can't reach so that I can begin saving for the next WDW/Florida/Wedding trip

I know it's not an actual trip booked, but its a smaller step closer to returning Just hope I can keep putting away extra on top of the money I'm saving!

And I'm sorry for sharing such a small amount of information, but I think only my DIS friends will understand this step. Other friends will think I'm crazy!

SO is a wonderful way to save! We do it each week and it's wonderful when you forget about it for a while and then look in the savings account what has accrued!

Great idea, I bet you'll be surprised at how quickly the savings mount up and every penny you put in there makes you one step closer

Every penny counts tinks. We wernt going this year but leaving it 14 months planned car boots and 4 money box jars it will happen (hopefully),An expensive hobbie we all have on here . You will be back there in the blink of an eye,

If you don't mind a Yank's 2 cents worth, Congrats on getting started! I've always wanted to go to England, but never did. I guess if I skipped a couple of years at Disney I could make it a reality. I admire your dedication...keep it up!

Yes I this totally understand! My DH pays his car off in May so thats when the serious saving begins! I don't think people realise how expensive it is for us Brits to go to WDW. I would love to be able to go even every other year. We are going next year and in all probibility won't be able to go again until 2015 unless we win the lottery!!

Completely understand this way of thinking. We save every single week for our Disney holidays and to pay our DVC mortgage. Without the planning the money would be spent on something less usefull or enjoyable and would be money we wouldnt have otherwise - but it takes discipline to keep doing it.

Oh I have the determination to get back, that's for sure. Even more saving is required though, as we'll hopefully be getting married on that trip too

I have a huge whisky bottle which is nearly full of change too and that will be going into the savings. Along with the money from our terramundi pot which our friend bought us for an engagement gift We're only putting notes and £2 coins in there, so hopefully that'll build up without us noticing too.

Thanks for the fantastic support though guys, it's nice to share with others how hard it is to save for these trips, whether we're from the UK or the US! We'll get there though, won't we?

It always feels better when you have a plan in action. It is quite amazing how quickly it all adds up though. After a while you stop counting it and just leave the savings to accumulate. When you look again, you have a tidy little sum set aside. Well done!

I totally understand where you are coming from. We started saving in the summer of 2009 for our trip in Oct 2012. I have enough for flights and accommodation now! Like you, I was determined and saving is the first step.

I'm very pleased you've posted that Joolz I thought I was going crazy saving so soon for a trip that's down as May 2013! Makes me realise there's not just me what's gone through it. Thank-you

Congratulations on starting your savings it's amazing how much pleasure you'll get from seeing it grow!

When we got back from our last WDW trip in January 2010 I started saving for our 2013 holiday which is our silver wedding anniversary year. At first it seemed such a long time away but now we're into 2011 it seems like it's gradually getting closer!!

We had a little extra left over from moving house in 2009 (thanks to a clever solicitor who avoided stamp duty), which we saved and added to, so that 4 of us could go (me, DF, and his two DS's). What an EXPENSE that was! But well worth it.

We've been saving since we came back, so that we can have a small non-Disney wedding in April 2012, and then after that we start saving for a Disney-moon in September 2013! We want to stay at AKL for 2 weeks, 14 day tickets, free dining, flights - and if we can manage a bit more saved, we'll maybe do the Universal parks for a day, Cirque du Soleil, Kennedy Space Center, an everglades trip, Sea World... the list goes on...

It's a HUGE thing to start saving for a Disney trip, and congratulations on setting up a separate Disney account, and starting the direct debits! Well done!

OMG we are all bloomin mad. Scrimping saving,going without....well without lots actually.Every spare penny,off it goes into Disney fund while i stare at the hall walls thinking,"What I wouldnt give to have them re-plastered",but not out of my Disney fund
out of all the trips, we could have had a beautiful extension on the back of the house But no, not out of my Disney fund.Do they have a section for that under the mental health act?

We have just booked for the podcast cruise 3.0, got one of those tins that you cant open and from this week £45 a week will be going in it £20 from my pocket and then sons keep is £25 so putting that in as well - it should sort a good chunk of the cost out
