Me…29 self professed Disney freak (8th trip to Disney World)
Matthew…30 loves me despite my Disney freakishness (first trip to Disney World)

Day Six, Sept 14, 2002…

Now that I think about it, we didn’t set the wake up call this time. We decided that we would get up whenever we got up…we can never sleep in too long anyway!

6:00am…that stupid alarm clock that didn’t go off all week, even though it was set, actually went off this morning!! Scared the living daylights out of me!!! Apparently, even though it never went off, we never shut it off. Killed the alarm clock and went back to sleep.

9:00am…We roll out of bed. It felt good to have those few extra hours of sleep! And even though I hate to even think of leaving WDW, I’m actually kind of relieved that we’ll be leaving tomorrow. Because we’ll be able to get back to a normal sleep schedule!!

We get up, throw some clothes on, and head down to the food court to get Matthew some coffee. Now, why I waited until now to buy my own refillable mug is totally beyond me. But I buy one and fill it with Diet Coke. Before we head back to the room, we stopped by the DVC desk in the lobby to see if we can schedule a tour for Sunday morning. No problem! We head back to the room and enjoy our breakfast (muffins from Perkins) and watch the DVC channel while we get ready to go. When we’re finally ready to leave the room, I go to turn off the TV. For some reason, the remote won’t work, so I turn it off manually. As I walk away from the TV, it turns back on again! Neither Matthew nor I are anywhere near the remote! Talk about freaky…I joke that they’re trying to suck us into the DVC through the TV! I turn it off again and this time it stays off! We leave around 11:00am.

We’ve decided to do Epcot today and then we’ll head over to the MK for the parade and fireworks. We get into Epcot at about 11:30am. First stop…the photo place to check out the pictures from the night before. We love them and purchase our favorite (which is now part of my signature!) and move on to get a fastpass for TT. It’s now pushing noon and we walk over to TT…and I am just amazed. There is maybe a 5 minute wait! IT’S NOON!!!!! So, I guess we won’t need that fastpass after all!

After TT, we head over to JIYI. Again, no wait! I loved having Figment back!! I kept singing the little song the whole ride through. After the ride, we played for a bit…sent an e-mail picture to friends and family…bought Figment related stuff. Since we had done HISTA at DisneyLand last year, we opted to skip it this time around. We then head to the Living Seas and look around a bit. It was weird not having the ride in there now…but I was glad to see the manatee exhibit open!

Since I can’t do Body Wars without feeling ill, we decide to skip the Wonders of Life pavilion along with Universe of Energy. We’re just not into seeing absolutely everything this trip.

We head back to the World Showcase and start in Canada. We skip the movie but look around a little. Then into my favorite part, the UK. I love it in there! Matthew had to have his heraldry done. So we bought that paper that tells the history of our last name…it’s actually pretty cool! We check out the stores in the UK and decide to try a Picnic bar. It was really good!!

It’s now nearing 2:30pm. Earlier this morning, I let Matthew call and make a PS for the Restaurant Marrakesh. He set it for 3:30pm. So we start making our way over to Morocco. We get there and it’s still pretty early. We nose around a bit. This was Matthew’s favorite country…he has been dying to explore every little nook and cranny of this one since he began researching Epcot for our trip. So we peeked in all of the stores…I must say that this was the friendliest country we encountered! Everyone was so nice!! (Oh yeah…we were wearing our hats, of course, and t-shirts that had Lady and the Tramp and said just married on them) We received lots of congrats from the CM’s there. The guys in the shops decided to play some songs for us! It was really neat…

We wander around the corner into what I thought was another store, only to discover Princess Jasmine!! Matthew is thrilled to pieces…his infatuation for Pocahontas quickly faded away once he saw Jasmine…men! We had our picture taken with her and talked for a bit with her. She commented that she and Aladdin were also on their honeymoon and that they needed shirts like ours. I made Matthew get her autograph and when she saw my pen, she got all excited! My pen was one that I had gotten years ago with all of the princesses on it, including Jasmine. She was just tickled that I had this pen with all of her friends on it! It was really cute…I was very impressed with this Jasmine.

It’s still early for our PS, but we decide to check in anyway. They were far from being busy today…we were seated immediately. Our server was Meriem. She was really nice and very good about explaining what we ordered. We decided on the Berber Feast. I had never had Moroccan food before and Matthew wanted me to try a little of everything. The Berber Feast included Jasmina's Salad, Chicken Kebab, Vegetable Couscous, Roast Lamb Meshoui and a seasonal fruit salad. It wasn’t too bad…Matthew loved his, but I mainly ate the Couscous! We also had this amazingly wonderful mint ice tea! It was so good! When our server brought out our dessert, she also brought us a complimentary Bastilla. It was really, really good!! Matthew also wanted to purchase a cook book from the restaurant. Meriem brought it to us, but wouldn’t let us pay for it! She gave it to us as a “wedding gift”…I think that was Matthew’s favorite restaurant in the World Showcase so far…we’ll most likely return…

After leaving the restaurant, we went back across to where Jasmine had been earlier. She had mentioned that her husband, Aladdin, would be along soon. He was there! So I got his autograph and a picture with him…that was my “get back” for Matthew and his obsession with Jasmine! :)

At this point, there are some really dark and ugly clouds looming overhead. We wander back through the shops, where Matthew decides to buy a drum of some sort, and then move on to Japan.

We browse through the store…decide to buy some chopsticks…and Matthew is just fascinated by the pearl process. So, we go ahead and get a pearl. We go over and choose our oyster and eagerly wait to see what we got…We actually got a nice pearl!! I wanted it set into a necklace of some sort, so we found one we liked and waited while it was being set.

It’s now nearing 4:30pm and we need to make our way out of the park. We go to head out the door and wouldn’t you know it…our very last day in the parks and the heavens have opened and the downpour begins…

We decide that everyone else are just chickens so we don our ponchos and head over to the American Adventure. We don’t have time for the show, but we wanted to see the WTC flag. That was really neat to see. The most amazing part to me was that the only parts damaged were the stripes. None of the blue part or the stars was damaged! I felt that just demonstrated our strength as a nation…

The downpour is still raging on outside, but we need to leave. So we play in the rain all the way up to package pick up. Since we’re leaving tomorrow, we couldn’t have everything sent to our room. So we wait and wait for our stuff. Meanwhile, the rain has now let up. The hot and steamy ponchos come off and we head out to our car. Just after we cleared the turnstiles, we notice an abandoned wheelchair sitting there. There is no one around but us…the wheelchair starts moving! It would roll backwards and then frontwards! First the possessed TV and now a wheelchair!!

We make our way back to our resort. We didn’t intend on going back there, but we were soaked to the bone and I just couldn’t go to the MK like that. So we change into some slightly dressier clothes (that’s all we have left!) and head back out. We get to the MK, have to park way out in no man’s land, take the tram, and choose to hop on the monorail. As we are nearing the MK, we notice the crowds at the gates…Oh my goodness! There are soooooo many people!!! I knew that it would be busy since this was the only night they would be running the parade and the fireworks. We make our way through the crowds and on to Main Street. There are so many people. We decide to make our way along the parade route to see if we can find a spot. It’s only about 7:30pm. By the time we get to the end of Main Street, Matthew decides that the parade isn’t that important to him. We were both a bit hungry, so we decide to just skip the parade and find someplace to eat. We head over through AdventureLand…don’t see anything there. We don’t want to eat anywhere along the parade route due to the insaneness of the crowds. So we wander back through FrontierLand, Liberty Square, FantasyLand, and end up in TomorrowLand since nothing else was open. We head in to Cosmic Ray’s and end up having the best burger we’d had the entire week!! We sat outside on the patio and had a perfect view of the castle. It was a really nice way to wrap up our honeymoon.

We could see the parade from where we were at, but not clearly. That was ok though, because from what I’ve heard, the parade wasn’t as spectacular as normal due to the rainy conditions. Matthew asked one of the CM’s at the restaurant if we would be able to see the fireworks from where we were sitting. She said yes and that they would pipe in the music from the show. Great! So we just sit tight enjoying the view of the castle all lit up. The fireworks begin!! We couldn’t really hear the music very well and Tinkerbell didn’t fly and we couldn’t see the fireworks at all! So everyone else that had been sitting in the same area all jumped up and ran out to the front of Cosmic Ray’s. We followed. We ended up standing in the light drizzle on the walkway by the castle that takes you towards the tea cups. It was an awesome view! Couldn’t hear the music very well, but we enjoyed the view…we just stood there…Matthew’s arms were all wrapped around me…it was just like our trip to DisneyLand last September! So very romantic…this was exactly how I wanted our honeymoon to end!

On our way towards Main Street, we were just strolling along, oblivious to the rest of the world, when we saw a slightly familiar couple standing there looking right at us. It was Kelli (tc) and her hubby! That was the 2nd time we had just blown right passed them this week! We all had a good laugh about that. We chatted for a bit there in front of the castle about our weeks and how we were ready to go home. We told them that we rescheduled our DVC tour for tomorrow since we couldn’t function very well when we were supposed to take it the first time! Time just flies when you’re having fun and before we knew it, there were two CM’s approaching us, urging us forward. It was kind of funny to be “kicked out” of the MK. We joked with them for a bit and then began the trek back to the front of the park. Didn’t stop to gawk in the shops…just kept going. Since we had driven, we had to go back to the TTC so we said our goodbyes to Kelli and Stephen and stood in line with everyone else for the ferry. It probably took about 3 ferries to come and go before we were able to board one. We get to the TTC and head to join the line for the trams. I kid you not…6 trams later, we’re on our way to our car!

It’s now pushing 10:30pm…our original plan was to go to DD and finish up our shopping. Well, by the time we got to our car, we were just too tired. So we head back to the resort. We stop at the food court to refill our mugs (I was determined to get my $10 worth of diet coke out of this mug in less than 2 days!!) and do some shopping in our resort gift shop. Matthew buys some cigars and some other miscellaneous stuff and we’re on our way back to our room. Matthew’s not quite ready for bed yet, so we went down to the pool and sat there for a bit. He wanted to have one of his cigars before bed. While he enjoyed his cigar, I caught up my trip journal. Soon after settling at a table by the pool, a group of, I guess, they would be considered young adults made themselves comfy at a nearby table. They were using some of the foulest language I had heard in a very long time. Now, I don’t mind a few swear words, I’m guilty of using them myself, but these kids were driving me insane! So, we went back up to our room and stood out on the balcony in front of our room. No sooner than we get up there, the kids leave the pool! Go figure.

It’s now about midnight and we do some packing and then head to bed…
