And the #1 Beatles' song is....

not what I expected. :confused3

I agree with some in the top 10 but not necessarily in that order.

Top 10 Beatles' songs

There was a segment about this today on "Morning Joe". They were discussing that you can actually put out a list of the 100 greatest Beatles songs and still be arguing about the songs that didn't make the list. No other group has had that many good/great songs.

Totally agree with that. :thumbsup2

Wow, I was way wrong. I do like the number one song, though!:thumbsup2

LOVE the Beatles!!! Where's Micca??? :goodvibes

A Day in the Life was always one of my favorites. It was even more unbelievable hearing Paul McCartney play it live at his concert a couple weeks ago.

Elvis? Michael Jackson? Prince?

Okay, they're not groups, but still.

I'm sorry.

You can make a case for Elvis.

Michael Jackson is pushing it a bit, but he was very talented.

But to say that Prince should be mentioned in the same breath as The Beatles is, well :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

Maybe in YOUR world but in my world :thumbsup2 Elvis??? :rolleyes1

I'd go with:

1. Let It Be
2. Hey Jude
3. Eleanor Rigby
4. Blackbird
5. The Long and Winding Road
6. Yesterday
7. Something
8. Twist and Shout
9. Here Comes the Sun
10. In My Life

Top 10 Beatles' songs

How did they decide on the top 10? I love the Beatles, but I don't agree with several of those. But, I tend to think their early stuff was better than the later, psychadelic stuff. IMO, Rubber Soul and Revolver were the 2 best Beatles albums.

During the discussion on "Morning Joe" they brought up the Rolling Stones or the Who. They said you might have 50 good/great songs for them - 100 no way.

I agree with this, except I'd say: "no other group or individual has has that many good/great songs"

I was shocked they picked "A Day in the Life" as number 1, because I never agree with Rolling Stone and that's my favorite Beatles song. If I had to pick my top 10, it would mainly be comprised of songs that were never singles. And maybe only huge Beatles fans would recognize them. As far as "She Loves You", "I Wanna Hold Your Hand"...well, those would not be in my top 10. Not that they aren't great songs, but they are songs everyone knows. Yes, I am a Beatles snob. In their entire catalog, there are so many incredible songs that never got airplay. I need to get the magazine to see the entire 100, but for now, I'll use Google to compile my list.

In no certain order:
17. I'll Get You
16. "B" side of Abbey Road
15. Norwegian Wood
14. You Can't Do That
13. What You're Doing
12. Things We Said Today
11.The Night Before
10. Another Girl
9. I Need You
8. Dear Prudence
7. Day Tripper
6. Every Little Thing
5. I Feel Fine
4.If I Needed Someone
3. I'm Looking Through You
2. No Reply
1. The Ballad of John and Yoko

Ok, so I couldn't keep my list down to 10 and I didn't even include "A Day in the Life". And reviewing my list, some of them were singles. And it's pretty clear I like early Beatles vs the later Beatles. I grew up listening to the Beatles and they will forever be my favorite group.

Well, I'll be the first to admit it.

I do not like the Beatles. At all. Maybe I liked the early, early stuff a bit, but after that....bleh.

Now Elvis, oh baby, he is still one of the most beautiful men that ever lived!!!:rotfl:
His early stuff, his cheesy movies, and then the comeback special!:worship:

I could listen to Suspicious Minds and it's Now or Never over and over again!
And then Little Sister, Return to Sender, Are You Lonesome Tonight...and everything else???

Sigh, now I must go listen.

(I'm 36, by the way!:rotfl: and don't get me started on Dean Martin and Neil Diamond!)

edited to add: I forgot Sam Cooke!!!!!!! sigh........I'm fainting.........

I love the Beatles, but "Hey Jude", "Come Together", and "Let It Be" are the three songs of theirs that I can't stand :headache:. I turn the radio station if any of those come on.

I like Let It Be.

I think that A Day In The Life is a good song. I'd go for In My Life myself but it's a hard choice.

I'd go with:

3. Eleanor Rigby
4. Blackbird
5. The Long and Winding Road
6. Yesterday
7. Something
8. Twist and Shout
9. Here Comes the Sun
10. In My Life

I thought it would be Let it Be too. I didn't see Yellow Submarine on the list. I thought that would be there :lmao:
