I need to lose weight, get in shape, and start to live! I could probably fill up a whole post with reasons why I weigh 333 pounds at 5'5" but that (IMHO) would be just more excuses. At the age of 47, I'm sick of taking medication, swollen ankles, and feet and I am really sick of being tired all the time.

So I've tried before...but for some reason I feel determination deep within my soul. I don't know how else to explain it.

And so I begin.....my new life....On Saturday, May 30th I joined NYSC...got on the treadmill and walked....40 minutes. I have been every night since then (5 in a row). I am not obsessed. If I miss a night here or there I know it will be ok. I feel so much better after only 5 days. More energy already. Truthfully, my 333 weight...I got on the scale last night....I don't even know what I was on Saturday and I don't want to know....that's in the past.

So I have the exercise thing started.....the harder part for me.....FOOD! I know this is a life style change so I'm not doing anything drastic or unreasonable. First, I am watching my portions. Second, I am trying to eat three meals a day vs. the two that I did in the afternoon and evening with loads of "bad" snacks in between. For now....that's it. I want to make this my new habit so for the next month....that is my goal. Three meals a day with watching my portions.

Good luck to everyone else!

Good Luck to you! Keep track of your progress on here, it really helps alot. Many people here for support.

Keep up the great work, one day at a time.

Remember portion control and no processed food- actually eating like a caveman is the "diet" we should all follow- all natural.

Chime in on my journal any time you want, we are all here for you!

What is your first name?

Linda

Ok you'll love this....my first name is Linda! It really is. And thank you so much for the encouragement. I'm about to write my next journal entry. It helps to keep me focused.

Isn't it funny how you are so motivated when you start something. I guess the real test....besides beginning....is the long run.....so as I am in the early stages of my marathon...I am still quite motivated and feel right on track. I am finding it is much easier to say "no" to poor food choices since I am exercising....I guess I'm thinking about how much hard work I put in to lose that one slice of cake!

Truthfully, other then my immediate family...DH, DD, DS....no one knows I've decided to change my life. Other then you fellow WISH DISers! I guess I want it this way. One day I may spill the beans...or maybe I won't have to say a word and it will be obvious .....just by looking at me!

I find chewing sugar free gum helps me.

So I've learned one thing about myself....I don't do journals well. I've continued on my endeavors and am doing really well with my exercise program and my portion control.
