And now i'll show my ignorance--- what is wishes?

i'm assuming that wishes is the parade in the magic kingdom....is that correct?....how does it differ from past parades?....

Wishes is the fireworks show at MK. Lots of really neat fireworks, narration, and music. Really special!

If I may elaborate... you have to think of it as more than just a fireworks show.... the music and narration, as well as special lighting on the castle, make it a whole "show". The current daytime parade at the MK is called "Share a Dream Come True". Very nice parade.... characters in giant snowglobes. The current evening parade at MK is "SpectroMagic"..... I love it! The current parade at AK is called "Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade" and it is fantastic.... I really loved it. And the current parade at MGM Studios is "Disney's Stars and Motor Cars parade"..... good but not fantastic (just my opinion of course). There is currently no parade at Epcot (Tapestry of Dreams was discontinued last year) and the evening pyrotechnics show is called "Illuminations". Honestly I haven't seen it since 1992 and I am told that it has changed a lot since then. Most people seem to love it.

ok...that explains why i've seen posts about wishes viewing from the grand floridian...
so i guess we'll try to see it....we're not big on fireworks so we usually don't bother....

we'll also try to catch the parade at animal kingdom...
as far as MGM goes, our favorite was the alladin parade years ago (i never liked the mulan one)...

illumination's is nice...but i wouldn't go out of my way to see it again....(same for fantasmic.)...as i said, we're not big fireworks fans...although i have to say that we really enjoyed the fantasmic at disneyland when we saw it from the gallery balcony...

the only way i'd see fantasmic at MGM is doing the dinner package...

PLEASE try to see Wishes. I know you said you're not big fans of fireworks but it is truly amazing. The fireworks over the castle and the music playing, it brings tears to my eyes. It's at that point in the day that I say to myself, this is why we came here.

I don't know if you can see Wishes from the Grand Floridian, but even if you can, you'll miss the great effects on Cinderella's Castle by watching it from there. We watched it from the top of Main Street (right in front of the Castle) and it literally blew us away! The music, narration, the Castle, the fireworks all brought tears to my family's eyes. It's not just fireworks; it's an awesome experience.

thanks for the quick and easy to read definitions of the "special" activities. I was also confused on all of the parades, shows, etc. You made it clear as to what was where and when!
