...and now for something completely different?

Here are a few of the things I have not yet done, but really want to try:

Archery lessons at Fort Wilderness

The early morning fishing trip that goes into World Showcase.

My son, his uncle, his best friend and his Dad, who love to fish, really enjoyed the Bass Fishing Excursion! Since buying into DVC, we try to find non-park, relaxing things to do and this was a winner. You can have a group of up to 5, they provide water and the fishing gear! Etc. They've talked about doing it again!

We all did the archery lessons when they were younger, I don't think we ever laughed so much!

2 years ago they also did the surfing lessons at Typhoon Lagoon, talk about wiped out afterwards!

We've done the Illumination Cruise under the bridge at Epcot, next I'd like to try the other cruise.

This summer the boys both want to try para-sailing!

Thank you. I just watched the video on the link posted by OP. My only concern is that we are two adults, just a friend and myself. I'd feel a little funny that it's mostly kids....:confused3

We, 4 adults, did it with our kids and their friends! Talk about laugh, let's just say, in an apocalyptic crisis, I will not be part of the hunting team. Don't be self conscious, go and have fun!

thank you! i'm going to see what my travel buddy would like to do.

Have you done Splitsville (Bowling) at DTD?
Do you go off-site?
If yes, try touring the Gaylord Palms Resort, one of the "other" theme parks, or maybe a shopping day at one of the malls.

Our new "things" on this last trip were the Tomorrowland Terrace Fireworks Dessert Party (a great last-night-of-the-trip thing) and the Wild Africa Trek. Both were wonderful and worth it!

Happy planning!

Was going to say these 2 exact things! There's also driving a fast/race car at the Richard Petty driving experience...my DS really wants to do that someday.

Is miniature golf just for kids?

The archery lesson is lots of fun for everyone and the instructors are the usual fun-loving CM's.

We have twice had "CM in control" days or "CiC" (we pronunce it "sick") days where the next CM you see when you exit an attraction or enter the gates etc. tells you what you should do next (as long as it's not a duplicate). It's more fun than it sounds and the CM's have fun with it. Take your picture with them and ask for their autographs and you will have a day of memories. You might be surprised what they say for you to do isn't what you might expect. We had the most fun with this at Epcot. Got a henna tattoo and did some cultural things I might not have ever done without their suggestions. If you get tired, you can always stop but I'm betting you don't. :)

That's such a cool idea! I think I'll try it on my next solo trip.

Love it.

I always try to plan new fun things for each trip as well. In December we watched fireworks from the Top of the World Lounge in BLT (any DVC person can). We also did HDDR and took a wonderful sleigh ride through the FW area to see all the decorations (Amazing what people construct over there!!!)! We also did a fantastic new night-time tour that starts at 10 pm at AKL. It is a night safari through the savannas of Jiko and Kidani, with night vision goggles. We rode an open-air truck and got so close the the animals we could have touched them, if we had been allowed. Best tour ever! Exclusive pins and light-up bracelets were our gifts. Free ponchos too as it started to drizzle the last 5 minutes of the tour.

Now you're giving me some great ideas! Thank you!!!!

(And none of these even require a park ticket. Such great ideas for non-park days, or non-Disney days!)

though I've only been a member for 8 years (however I've been frequenting WDW for 12 years) I try to do the same thing (something new each visit). Last summer we did something that I've always over looked: the Winter Summerland Mini Golf. Holy crap what an amazing hidden gem! It was the most spectacular golf course I've ever been on and now, as we are planning this summer, my kids keep asking if we are going back and if we can do the winter side this time (we did the summer side).

We love Fantasia mini golf also! Haven't played summer side, but we did winter side. but our favorite is Fantasia.

We always look for something different. A couple of years ago I surprised DH with a fishing trip leaving from BW. He said, as we were gettng on the boat, "we're not going to catch anything". Well, 22 fish later he bit his tongue. We went down to DHS and then the other way towards EPCOT and then the Friendship captain waved us on so we got to take circle the WS lagoon at EPCOT. Amazing time and fanstistic pictures. Your boys would also really enjoy this.

The tours are fantastic. We loved Keys to the Kingdom and are trying Wild Africa Trek this November. Pick a restaurant you never went to, the Wishes Dessert Party. There is so many different things to do.

This is our list of things that we are going to do this year (or at least try to do). Most is new to us:

-Rent a canoe @ Fort Wilderness Campground.
-Archery @ Fort Wilderness Campground
-Dessert and fireworks
-Best cheeseburger search (post a photo and review every day)
-Air tunnel (that flying experience in Orlando)
-new test track ride
-new fantasyland section
-Beach Club pool
-Disney Quest
-Bowling in Disney at Splitsville
-Best milkshake search
-first hair cut for my nephew in MK
- Fort Wilderness campfire
-Jellyrolls piano bar at Boardwalk
-Wilderness Explorers
-Find an alligator -- either on property or off
-Go to Tom Sawyer Island (oddly we have never been there)
-Find the talking trash cans and drinking fountains in Magic Kingdom and Epcot.
-Find the phone booth in Epcot where people from the “outside” call
-Get one of the 3 cabanas by Tikes Peak (kids play area) at rope drop at Blizzard Beach.
-Art of animation at Hollywood Studios.
-Get ice cream at Beaches n Cream.
-Watch the fireworks from the top of Bay Lake Tower or the bridge going from BLT to Contemporary.
- create a "Where's Waldo" theme photo album -- with an actual Waldo hat
-Try to find WDW employees from every state.
- Be apart of a show.
-Be investigators: Discovery Island/River County...get some long time staffers to talk about it or try to find it.
-Behind the Seeds tour

Our last visit included Lunch with an Imagineer at the Brown Derby. Our gracious host was the WDW head librarian, who had many stories to share about the parks and studios. (No, he did not reveal any corporate secrets or future plans.) And the meal included the amazing original Cobb salad (much different from what most restaurants serve today) and lots of other great things to eat. The meal lasted over two fascinating hours, and ended with the Imagineer autographing individual glass Disney souvenir plates for all of us.

I have done this, and think it's an amazing experience!

Also, dine with an animal specialist at Sanaa!:thumbsup2

On our last trip, we mini golfed on the summer side (still have to try the winter side, but the wait was too long) and we also did the Behind the Seeds tour. My boys loved it and it was inexpensive. You can schedule it the day you want to do it. It was highly informative and the kids loved releasing the ladybugs, feeding the fish and tasting the produce. We would love to do some of the other tours, but the ages of our boys and cost is prohibitive.

We're headed to WDW soon and look forward to trying out some of rutgers1's list. Thanks for some great ideas.
