...and a happy New Year! 12/30/2010

Nikki - I know you said you just got a trader Joe's in your area. I just looked in our freeze and there was some Candy Cane Jo-jo ice cream. DH must have bought that last time he was there.... But think of it as oreo cookie ice cream with peppermint.
Trader Joes can be a good thing and sometimes a bad thing.
Laura

Laura--We haven't tried to ice cream, but we did buy some of the Peppermint Jo-Jo cookies. Yum! Today is actually my birthday, and as luck would have it I'm home sick! But, we bought some of the chocolate lava cakes from TJ's that we planned to bake after dinner as my "birthday cake". Don't know if I'm going to feel up to eating them though...[/QUOTE]

Bummer that you're sick for your B-Day, I hope you feel better soon! Have a happy one anyway.

I went to the doctor yesterday and got antibiotics, so I am feeling MUCH better today! Being a teacher, I unfortunately get coughed and sneezed on way too much.:scared1: The doc says there is lots of icky stuff going around right now, so keeping my fingers crossed that the kids and I stay healthy as we get closer to the travel date!

Yes, that is what my doctor said here in TX. He said it was a type of bug that needed a little extra to be able to get over it. I went to my ENT doctor today and he told me and DD a few other things to do to help get over things a little faster without having to go get antibiotics.

Oh it is cold out there. Went for a 6AM 4K run, and did a little shoveling of snow. We were lucky - maybe an inch, but a town an hour west got 180 cm or over 5 feet. It shut down a larger city for 2 days. I will not miss the cold weather. The day we leave for Florida is forecasted to be freezing rain in Ontario and rain in Florida. I hear that Florida is chilly. At least there is no snow. I can not thaw the feet from my run. I think I will have to get a fire going. Oh I am do excited. Here comes the sun.:cool1:

Kathy--what types of suggestions did your doc have for you? I'd love to know!

We got our first snow of the season today, and the whole state of Iowa is under a BLIZZARD WARNING! Yuck, I just wasn't ready for this. It's making the warm Caribbean waters seems even nicer....

Wow, just nineteen days to go!! Can hardly wait. Just booked two weeks ago on category 12 GTY and checked last night to find we'd been upgraded to a category 9 oceanview!!! Cannot believe our incredible luck! We are a family of four and category 12 staterooms only sleep three, so we knew we'd be upgraded, but expected that it would be to cat 10 or 11 interior room. What a great surprise.:woohoo: We are definitely ready to be on our way to warm and tropical as it is well below freezing here. Does anyone know if either Pirates in the Caribbean or formal night is going to coincide with New Year's Eve? Just curious! :cool1:

He said to use Musinex along with our other allergy maintenance medication. He also told me since I was getting over a spell that Robitussin DM would help. He is big on OTC to try to avoid having to go onto antibiotics.
DD has used Musinex a lot and it really works on her.

We are supposed to be back in the 40's tomorrow. It was really nice today.

Last year NYE was a stand alone special night. Formal and Pirate night were on a separate evening. My assumption is that this year would be the same.

We did 10 miles this morning, temp in the mid-60s. A front is coming through now, temp has dropped 10 degrees with wind and rain. At least it isn't snow.

We just got about another 4-6 inches of snow this am and now it is changing over to freezing rain and ice, maybe rain over night. No fun!

I am ready (but not at all prepared) for the cruise!

I am with ya'. I am ready but not prepared.

The person that offered to make my FE gift, changed their mind. Now I have to start all over.

Just had my mother and brothers for our Christmas celebration. Now that is behind me, I have more time to focus on the cruise. Ugh - I really ate too much ... back on good nutrition focus tomorrow. Geez, no one took the left over Guiness cake - forgot to offer it to anyone - my nephew is still here working on my renovations - I think he will take it. I gotta save the calories for the cruise.

Well out to shovel that wet snow before it freezes tomorrow.

I am so with you... I am ready and more than ready. Just not prepared! :rotfl:

Tonight was the first night of Nutcracker rehearsals in the theatre. Ahhh such drama and it was all backstage. :scared1:

Tips are now prepaid! Pre-night flight hotel is booked!

But nothing is packed or even thought of...

I was talking to my preacher's wife this morning going on about how many days til we leave (she is so jealous). Then my mother looked at her and said, Ask her if she is ready. . . . and like y'all, no I am not, but I am hopefully getting there.

I'm still trying to get it together for the cruise, but with the cruise being my kids big X-Mas present I can't do anything I need to do while they are off school and since I work at the school I'm having a hard time finishing anything. Now they only have 7 days of school left before vacation. :scared1:

I am having pretty much the same problem getting things done for the cruise. LOL.... We are leaving the kids at home, so getting stuff done is almost impossible, with one in school and the other one at home. Most stuff is getting done while the Baby (3) is down for her nap, or late after they go to sleep.

Just when I thought I was getting ahead!

I had the red shirts, the iron-on paper, and the DISisgn and YUCK! IT did not work. Part of it was the red shirt, and most of it was the iron on paper... DD's was partly burned and DS's the paper would not peel off.

I was afraid the design would look lost on a white shirt and my only other option for paper was black, so I went with white/clear.

I think I am going to totally change my plan since I do not want to throw away more shirts and do not have the time to get them anyway.

We leave on Sat. for 2 weeks of Christmas family time and I need to have them done!

That stinks! I was nervous about doing our shirts since I've only had messes in the past. I just did a couple today and they turned out fine. I don't know what I did differently than in the past.:confused3

After the kids find out about the trip on Christmas, I'm going to let them choose a couple of other DISigns I've saved for the rest of their shirts.

My kids are done with school this Friday so I've got to get off the boards and throw myself into some packing while they aren't around! Getting really excited now!!!
