Hi dis

I plan on going to wdw in november this year and next year so was thinking about getting anaual passers can someone tell me about pro and cons of them and how they work

We are doing the same and upgrading from the 14 day pass when we get there. There is a sticky on this under themparks. There was a lot of disrepancy about whether uk people could upgrade the 14 day pass but we can. However if you use any of the extra days eg waterparks, disneyquest you can only upgrade to the premium annual pass. If you do plan on going to the water parks the annual pass will give you a discount on admission. You will get discounts of some resturants and shops and special events.
I think if you are going twice in 12 moths it is definatley worth it.Combined with one of your party buying the Tables in wonderland card if you dont have the free DDP you will get 20% off your meals in the world. If you upgrade to the annual pass as you dont all have to in your party but if all gong back is better to remember to ask them to ensure your free dining is kept on the card. If you do go to a booth and the cm says you cant upgrade ask to see a manager because you can definatley upgrade. You dont have to upgrade on your first or second day you can do it on the last but just remember if you use a water park you will have to upgrade to the premium pass.
Hope this helps a little. Spoke in length to the guy who deals with this querey on the theme park thread.:thumbsup2

Oh dont forget free parking but if staying onsite doesnt count as its free anyway

im even more confused now sorry  how do you look for your room discount online without already paying for it as i do not want to buy it then find out when i want to go i can not get the discount :surfweb:

I think you have to call if you want the AP rate but not 100% as not buying for that purpose. Obviously you will need to have the AP before you can apply for the discount on rooms.
What are you confused about? Pm sent

It is my understanding that the 14 day can only be upgraded to the premium AP..? That is what I was told by a CM when I upgraded in November (I hadn't used any of the DQ/ water park admissions).
As for the room discount I think you'd need to have a valid AP to book. You could by a voucher whilst over here for the AP to exchange for the ticket when you get to FL but then obviously you wouldn't be able to do the upgrade.

You can definitely upgrade your 14 day ticket to an ap, it can be a regular annual pasr as long as water parks and dq havent been used on the tix.
You can book ap rate rooms but cant check on line, you need to call disney or use dreams unlimited, you just need to show the pass at check in.

As long as the price for the ticket you want to upgrade isn't higher than what the AP costs you can upgrade.

For the past few years we've both got annual passes, but next time we go, one of us will get a 14 day ultimate, and one an annual pass so we can still get free parking and the discounts.

You can book an AP rate room as long as you have the AP when you go to check in. If you don;t hold an AP you need to call CRO or use a US travel agent.

At the moment AP rates are out until the middle of August. They only release them about 6 weeks before the start of the travel dates so for the fall rates I expect a release date around the middle of July.

Currently they are offering 10% off in Disney owned stores for AP holders. There is discounts on mini golf, water parks, Disneyquest, and a few restaurants mostly lunches.

You can buy the TIW card which gets you 20% off at most restaurants including alcohol :thumbsup2

Just another point to consider, although if you are staying off site it wont make any difference in your decision.:)

But we too are going this coming October and next August, however, as we always stay on site we only qualify for the free dining when purchasing the full package ie Room & Tickets. For us the savings made through the free dining totally out weighted the savings made from purchasing AP.
