Leaving DL on a Friday morning in August for vegas. What time would you recommend leaving the DL area.

Do you have anything you’re getting to?

Fridays, traffic through LA can be so hit and miss. And then weekend driving to LV picks up as people get off work.

I did a quick google maps search and it looks like you’ll want to get on road no later than 10 in order to avoid additional traffic, the earlier, the less traffic you’ll hit.

I’d be leaving straight after breakfast and an early breakfast at that. Friday is the worst day to head to Vegas so I’d be on the road by 7am, 8am at the latest or leave another day. It can easily be 6-8 hours or more if you leave too late. If it’s a holiday weekend, forget it.
Same thing returning to LA on a Sunday.

We just took this route 3 Fridays ago. I’m not sure when we left, but it wasn’t before 10. The drive wasn’t bad at all, but there was quite a bit of traffic. We weren’t in a hurry, however, so I didn’t really check the time. We got into Vegas around 4. Not sure if you’ve taken this route before, but I recommend taking a cooler of water. There were quite few overheated cars off the road.

Getting out of Vegas and possibly into LA will likely be heavy.
