Has anyone ever stayed at this place and can give me your opinion?

We will be renting a car so I was wondering what the drive from this place to DL is like, and how long does it take. Is it better to leave the car and take the hotel shuttle to DL? I know it's cheaper this way but I don't mind spending the $15 on parking.

We thought about the Hojo but when I showed both places to my 8 year old daughter on the website, she liked this place better. I think she has a bit of a fancy taste. The other option I'm considering is the Disneyland Hotel or The Paradise Pier but those two cost a lot more, so I have to decide if they are worth it to us before showing those to my girls.

Thanks!

Well, there's quite a difference between Hojo, Marriott Suites and the Disney properties. Hojo's is economy, MS is moderate and the Disney properties superior.

I like the MS and its location although farther down Harbor Blvd. It's on the same property as Homewood Suites and several restaurants: Oggi's, Red Robin, Joe's Crab Shack, Starbucks in the MS lobby, and directly across from Target for forgotten incidentals. You would however, have to take ART or drive to DLR from MS, it's not walking distance and that could pose an issue during peak seasons on the ART. We personally never drive, it's just too much of a hassle for myself and my aging hormonal nerves, ha. Off season is when we go (if there is an off season anymore) and we've never had a problem with ART and go a few times a year. The property is nice and we stay at Homewood often or Residence Inn which is just across Chapman behind Hyatt. I personally would choose RI for your girls, they have free ice cream nights, face painting, bbq nights, complementary hot breakfast buffet and light dinner Mon-Thurs evenings, a kids' Disney movie room and the suites will have a small kitchen and bit more room. And parking there is free. Homewood does have its own shuttle which would aleviate your ART issue in peak seasons.

But debating staying on site at a DLR hotel vs. off property, that's a whole other issue...

We got the Marriot anaheim suites off priceline for $43 because we added an extra day to our trip sort of last minute and HOJO was full up. We found out later that HOJO opened up at the et rate right after that...sigh...
Worked out allright. We decided to just drive and park at Disneyland that first day, it was Fathers Day and for some reason we ended up not paying anything to park--strange. The 'hotel shuttle' is not the Marriots--it is the ART which is generally agreed to be a major pain in the rear while HOJO is a 7 minute walk. Marriot is right across from Target and it has a nice little jacuzzi, so we were happy enough. Hojo is just the perfect Disneyland Hotel though--not very many people know it was designed by the same person who designed the Disneyland Hotel. To actually choose a hotel that is that far away from Disneyland over HOJO just puzzles me-- unless you are going to try for the priceline rate in which case I understand. Have you checked the entertainment rates for HOJO for your dates? If you have young girls--the pool at HOJO is so much better. The grounds at HOJO are so much prettier--the Marriot--well--has no grounds-- is smack dab in the middle of a lot of asphalt.

I also have stayed at Marriott Suites after a priceline bid of $40ish. It was very convenient to have a suite, but I thought the furnishings were a bit shabby. I definitely prefer Hojos. Hojos has some of the Disney magic, and the pool is amazing.

I spent one night at MS for about $40. What we like to do is arrive at a neighboring hotel the night before our package starts

When the park opens we go in and never leave the property. We only live 3 hours away, but when you consider the cost of one day it makes sense to be in Anaheim the night before your trip starts.

MS is a 4 star hotel. While not a DL hotel we found it very nice.

I think it looks great, not shabby at all. For that price I'd grab it in a heartbeat.

Thank you all for your insight! After a lot of research on this site, we have decided to stay onsite at DLH. We are going in August, which will be a very busy time at DL, so we will benefit from the early entrance. Also, if the girls get tired midday, it will be easier to go back to the room for a rest.

I think you made a great choice, we stayed at ms 2 weeks ago and the transportation with ART was horrible! we waited near 1 1/2 hours on our first day in both direction, my husband raised you know what and it improved a little bit......but never again, I will stay on property or across the street.
