Anaheim Hotels

Hi

We are planning a trip to Las Vegas/California next year and I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a hotel in Anaheim.

We are planning to stay at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas and the Town & Country Club in San Diego, but when we have been to LA in the past we normally stay in Marina Del Ray or Santa Monica, but thought that Anaheim would be good for a change.

When you read the guidebooks/brochures they all seem to say nice things and I would prefer to stay somewhere on someone's recommendation, so if anyone can help that would be brilliant.

Disneyland is surrounded by mostley motels ( Exterior corridors) and some hotels ( interior corridors ). Do you want to be next to Disneyland so you can walk over. If so there are alot of nice motels right there. Most of the hotels are a bit farther away and can be walked but are better to use the hotel shuttle. It also depends on your budget.

don't stay at Best Western Stovall's...it's pretty dingy and noisy. we booked there to be in walking distance, which it was, but the pool creeped me out and we were generally dissatisfied.

we stayed, another year, at a Comfort Inn Suites that provided a shuttle to DL...it was much cleaner and it had a free breakfast. it was on Katella, don't remember exactly where.

since we spend most of out time at DL and not in the motel (our kid is almost 7, no need for naps), we go for price rather than hotel ameneties.

We've stayed at the Anaheim Marriott (conceirge level) and have had amazing stays. Best part is that you can charge your park tickets to your room and get Marriott Rewards points on them! They have a shuttle that will take you directly to the parks or in the alternative you can simply take a very short walk to the Timon and Pumba shuttle that Disney runs. I would highly recommend staying there.

I second what padawan said about Stovall's, that was the only *bad* place I've stayed in Anaheim.

I really like the Howard Johnson's too, the price is right, and it's more like a hotel than the rest, with interior corridors and ample parking. It's walking distance, but they also have a shuttle.

We stayed at the Residence Inn by Marriott. It was about 300 yards from the entrance. It had a pool and free breakfast every morning. On Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday they serve a free dinner (Pasta, Tacos, Chili).

We rented a two bedroom room with a hot tub on the patio. It was wonderful. It had a full kitchen so we went purchased food and cooked a lot of our meals.

We paid $119 plus tax but it was supposed to be $259 / nite. We got a break when the room was not available our first nite so they took care of us.

I am familiar with the hotels you stay in and here is what I recommend:
Sheraton Anaheim
Hilton
Candy Cane Inn (but make sure you get a room off the street)
or what about one of the on property hotels? The Paradise Pier has some decent rates.
