Hi there

Have booked most of my West Coast trip for next year - I just have the 4 nights in Anaheim left to finalise.

After recommendations on here I have been looking at the Howard Johnson, Park Vue and Candy Cane Inn. We are going in June and they have quoted me $139 plus tax per night including Continental Breakfast. The other two hotels have not released their prices yet.

I have never booked independantly before so I'm not sure if this is a good price. I don't know whether to book now, in case it goes up, or wait for the other prices to be released - I have heard about an entertainment rate at the HoJo - is that worth waiting for and how would I get it?

Thanks for any help you can give! :goodvibes

You don't indicate the dates of your travel or how many people you need to fit in your room so don't know how helpful this will be. I have paid just under $125 incl tax to sleep 3 people in a standard 2 queen room at the Candy Cane Inn in October using a AAA discount. This comes with a pretty good continental brkfst and use of their free shuttle. If I cant get the entertainment rate at Hojo's, CCI is my preferred place to stay off property. The entertainment rate at Hojo's is $59 (not incl tax) a night for a standard 2 queen room. No breakfast and no shuttle. They are about the same distance walking to the entrance gates at DLR , but I prefer the walk from CCI (no crossing Harbor Blvd, more shade, better separation from traffic). If I can get the entertainment rate, I book at Hojos. If I cant get the entertainment rate at Hojos the room is still discounted but around $100-110 a night. At this price difference I will go to CCI. You can cancel a reservation at CCI so I would make a reservation there and watch to see if your dates come up at Hojo's on the entertainment rate. If you see them, call right away and make sure that you talk to the reservation desk at the Anahiem Hojo's and not the central reservations line.

Oh yes, I have been useless with the information!! It's for June 21-24, for two adults.

Thanks for the advise, think I will book CCI and see what happens, I didn't realise I can cancel it again! Bit of a novice as usually book through a TA!

Can also book Hojo for no deposit and cancel by... 5 days out of something. Then if the ET rate comes up, call and have it applied to your reservation.

48 hour cancellation at HOJOs....totally worth booking JIC! You may be able to book June with them if you call them. I thought someone mentioning already booking the kids suite next may/june???

FYI HOJO's offers a 15% discount to DIS members. The discount code is R2, and if you are looking to call them direct, then use the phone # listed on their website and ask for in house reservations. Our family loves HOJO's, and will always stay there when we are visiting DL, but both the CCI and HOJO's are the best off site hotels, so you can't go wrong with either. HOJO's doesn't have a free breakfast, but their gift shop has lots of snacks and brekki items, such as milk, cereals, danishs, etc at a reasonable price, so it might be worth looking into.

Our favorite is the Anaheim Hilton. Rooms are usually 89-109 per night. There is a parking fee of $15 a night, $19 for valet. They have a food court, a Starbucks and the restaurant and room service are good. The pool area has a pool bar where you can get lunch or snacks. The staff is always great and even when I check in with a ridiculously low price from Priceline, they are professional and helpful. We just came back last week from a 5 day stay and had another wonderful time.
Transportation to and from the parks is via the ART system. The 3 day pass is $10 per adult, $3 per child, and under 5 was free, IIRC. The stop is directly in front of the hotel and drops you off at stop number 4 at the resort bus area.
You can request a refrigerator. We kept snacks and sodas in our room, great for our "pool and relax" day, or when you get back in the afternoon for a nap.
