We have never been to DL only to WDW.

We have started the surch for Hotels. We will be in the area for 9 days. We received rates of $106.00 a night using a goverment discount at the Anaheim Hilton.

If anyone feels they like someplace better for less $ I welcome the advice.

WE are looking for a hotel with a gameroom ( for my 12 year old for down time), pool and continential breakfast.

we don't ask for much do we.

Has anyone stayed at this Hilton? If so what are your views?

I have used these boards alot for past disney trips and everyone has been so helpful.
Thanks in advance.

I've stayed at the Hilton a few times over the past 20 years, although not real recently. It is a nice hotel with typical hotel amenities. It is geared more for the business traveler than for families though. You now have to pay for the transportation to the DLR, but then, I think you'll have to do that most anywhere that isn't within walking distance. (You actually can walk to DLR and DTD from the Hiton if you are very ambitious and don't get sore feet easily). One of the things about the nicer hotels around Disneyland is that the rates you can get vary alot. Often, they are affecting by things like whether there is a convention in town at the time, especially for the Hilton and Marriott which are right next to the convention center. I will often book something I can cancel, but then keep my eye on rates through Expedia or other web sites to determine if a better deal comes along. Sometimes, you can get Disney's Paradise Pier for around the amount you are paying for the Hilton. Expedia will sometimes offer some great rates a week to 10 days in advance when they are underbooked.
When are you going?

Hello there,

We have stayed at the Anaheim Hilton a few years ago and found it a great place to stay! At the time my children were 6 months and 3 years old. We walked to and from Disneyland each day, with just one stroller, sometimes several times a day. In the past few years we have also stayed at Paradise Pier and Grand Californian and was not overly impressed especially for the exorbanant prices.

We just booked again for Easter with a rate of $120 for executive level or $79 standard room. Thought that both of these prices were great considering that GC is priced over $300/night. I'll take the bit of extra walking to save a couple hundred a night!:cool1:

Check the Net Direct rates on-line @ www.hilton.com. You might be able to do even better than the government rate!

Have fun!!!! We can't wait. Jody princess:

We stayed there last March thru a Priceline bid of about $40.
Very much geared for business travel but it was still nice.

We found they didn't have much info about how the ART system works or hours of the park opening. We had to buy daily ART passes as they didn't have the 5 day ones at the hotel.

Ask for an upper floor with Disney view and you can watch the lights out on DCA and beyond at night. We could see a tiny bit of the fireworks from our room.
We looked down and saw the roof top pool complete with FOUR big sized hot tubs.. mmm.. it was very nice to soak in a hot tub all to ourselves after a long day at the park.

There is a restuarant in the lobby- kind of over priced IMO but they have a nice breakfast buffet that is NOT on menu at reasonable cost. We found that most of the dining options/stores closed early in the hotel.. we found ourselves with limited choices after park closing.
I found the beds were not the best- they kinda sawyed as we got in- so we pushed the mattress up to the wall and that helped.
(The beds at the Marriot right across from the Hilton were much better (plush top, firm mattress and soft blankets) - they were also more friendly to Disney visitors. There is a Pizza Hut in the lobby of the Marriot if you need a bite to eat on the cheap and late at night).

We walked to the parks in the morning and took the ART ($2 per day) back at night.
It was a nice walk across Harbor Blvd to get fresh fruit and vegies at the farmer's market/stand in the morning. Walk down a few blocks and cross Harbor again to stop at the 7-11 to get water bottles and other treats. We them walked down to the parks and sat in the picnic area in front of DL to have our breakfast and repack our bag for the day. Our tummies were happy to get fresh healthy foods.
You could have a shorter walk by entering the parking lot and taking the tram.. but we were too excited to wait that long and had to keep moving . No to mention we kept ourselves at our usual time routines for waking up .. which meant very early in CA time!
