Anaheim Desert Inn & Suites

Hi all. Just stayed at the Anaheim Desert Inn & Suites for 3 nights a couple of weeks ago. Location is terrific!! Right across the street and the suite we had (sleeps 10, I believe) worked perfect for my family and my brother's family. The room was great and housekeeping was fine. The only negatives: breakfast was meager at best and didn't open until about 7:30 when we were already on our way to Disneyland 2 of the days. Biggest issue is the internet. It was slow when it worked at all, and when my DH discussed it with the manager they kept saying okay now it's working. It sometimes worked after that for a brief time and then would be down again and sometimes not be back up until we called again and again. If you don't care about internet service, I highly recommend it, but if that is important to you, try somewhere else as this problem may not be fixed any time soon, based on the other reviews I have read on this and the conversations with the hotel.

Good to know about the breakfast times! We'll be staying there in a couple weeks. Could you give details of the meager breakfast? I know we'll be supplementing, but I'd like to know how much for that first morning. :)

I have heard the same complaints before about the Anaheim Desert Inn and Suite. It seems for a couple years ago the internet is getting fixed and upgraded. I imagine they have the server in a poor place with a lot of concrete around it.

That is a bummer about breakfast when the park has long hours.

Basically what looked like white bread for toasting and some dry looking pastries. I didn't actually eat any of it because it didn't look too appetizing to me. Also they had some apples and bananas, which we already had for the room before coming to the hotel. Did have juice and coffee. Juice was the usual from the dispenser. Coffee needed lots of cream & sugar, but there was coffee in the room also, so that wasn't really a problem.

We ended up going to the bakery in DTD before shopping on our last day. We had our stuff in the room and had planned on eating lunch early anyway to take advantage of a coupon and less of a line.

By the way, there is a Cold Stone Creamery next door, great for a treat on a break. IHOP on one side & Denny's on the other, so no shortage of breakfast places. We didn't waste time at sit down in the morning, though.

One other thing. Used ride max, got there before opening (not early entry), and collected FPs, and really had very little lines. I think maybe we had a couple of 15-20 minute waits and that was about it. We even adjusted things a little bit off the schedule and did fine. The only things we didn't do that we had sort of wanted to were Storybook (line was short, but did some other things 1st and when we returned didn't want to wait in the longer line.) and HM (got tired and decided we didn't need to do it this time).

Okay one last thing: I highly recommend Ariel's Grotto. We went for dinner on the WOC package since we planned on eating there or Wine Country for my brother's birthday anyway. It was expensive, but the food was awesome and the service was spectacular!! After a little bit of a wait (not a problem for us at 5:00), everything after that was just wonderful!

Have a great time on your trip. The location is the best.

I'm staying here in September for the first time, so it's good to know you enjoyed it for the most part. (We pick it for the location).

A little bummed to hear the breakfast is lacking. I love having continental breakfast.

If you sign up for a Boingo account, you can at least get reliable internet at McD's whenever you are there. It's around $18 a month for both a laptop and a smart phone with wifi, etc. You can cancel at any time, to only pay for that one month service. We always sign up for BOINGO before our trips as you can use it at airports as well.

OK. Sounds like we'll only be getting fruit from that then. I was hoping for milk and cereal for the kids, but we'll just pick some up and keep in the mini-fridge.

Thanks!

Did they have milk by any chance?

Sorry, can't remember about the milk. :confused3 There may have been some there for the coffee, I just don't remember. I am asking my brother & sister if they remember and will let you know if they do remember either way.

Actually, they may have had some dry cereal also, but if they did it didn't look very good, so I didn't give it another thought. You could try it, but if you have some kind of cereal that you like, I would go with that. I'm not much help, now am I .

Breakfast is pretty much worthless. Pack some granola bars or something and have a nice lunch in the park later in the day. Hotel was great otherwise. Location was amazing.

We will bring some of the girls' favorite cereals with us - but we may use their milk and bowls in the mornings! Thanks! :thumbsup2
